The Wonder of Watercolor Challenge

I can't think of a current trend that is more suited to paper crafting technique than the watercolor trend, friends. In fact, it's a stamper's dream, really. Color without boundaries, or watercolor style, is not only all the rage, but it's a look that is super fun and easy to re-create. What likely began as a kindergarten art activity, watercoloring could now become your go-to trendy technique with the help of the inks, sprays, crayons, and paints that you already have on hand.

And inspiration? Well, you don't have to go far to find a whole world full of this pretty painterly style. Check it:

And that's really just the beginning! Feel free to peruse my Pinterest board for 40+ more moxie fab watercolor ideas!

And how about some paper crafting inspiration to make an even bigger splash? Straight from the Moxie Fabs column in the March/April issue of Paper Crafts magazine, these designers used a variety of techniques to create some beautifully stunning looks:

Floral Watercolor Card by Julia Stainton, p. 87

Moxie Fab Alert: Julia's card couldn't be more simple. She merely reached for some watercolor paints and a brush and painted these lovely blooms directly onto her card base.

Bride & Groom Card by Betsy Veldman, p. 88

Moxie Fab Alert: Here's a super easy, clever, and effective way to get the watercolor trend into your projects. Simply apply ink to specialty paper, spritz with water, and die-cut!

Rosy Thoughts Card by Jennifer McGuire, p. 89

Moxie Fab Alert:
By heat-embossing the stamped images, Jennifer was able to add color flawlessly!

For even more jaw-dropping inspiration on how to incorporate watercolor style into your paper crafted projects, see pages 88 and 89!

Whaddayasay? Are you ready to try your hand at this fun trend? If so, here are all the deets you'll need to put your toe into the water:
  • Create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates watercolor style in an innovative way.
  • Upload it to your blog, click on the title of that post, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Tell your readers that you've created your project for The Wonder of Watercolor Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
  • If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Projects previously created that fit the exact specifications of this challenge
can be linked, provided they were created within four weeks of this posting. You must include an ETA (edited to add) that explains that you are adding it to the Moxie Fab World challenge in order to be eligible.
  • Upload your projects by midnight EDT on Monday, May 13.
  • The winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, May 15 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button as well as something yummy from my moxie magical prize drawer.
Let's have some fun exploring the wonder of watercolor,

~Cath
