Tuesday Trigger: Man-tastic Revisited

You've got another two weeks to work on this fun Trigger friends! So have at it and HAVE FUN!

In the meantime, I'm hangin' in there! I am amazed at how much pain I'm still in at 7 days post-op, but I'm looking forward to my first physical therapy appointment tomorrow. The worst part so far? Having to sleep upright. The best part? Knowing that all of you are out there pulling for me!

Thanks for being so gall-durned moxie fab!

Moxie Fabber of the Week: Ryann Salamon

Happy Monday, friends! I hope things are rolling along pleasantly for you thus far!

I'm super excited to introduce you to our Moxie Fabber of the Week, Ryann Salamon. I became familiar with Ryann's work when she started submitting to Paper Crafts many moons ago. I have always been impressed with her fresh and creative approaches to the clean and graphic style, and it seems like every single time I see one of her cards, without fail, I feel my eyes widening and my smile jumping right off of my face. Her cards are sweet, cheerful, colorful, happy, and positively upbeat, so really, how can you help but not love them--and her--to pieces?

I'm so thrilled to have this chance to get to know her better today, and I know you will be as well!

Take it away, Ryann!

What is your full name? What is your screen name? Do you have a blog or an on-line gallery?

My name is Ryann Salamon and my screen name is rsalamon. You can find me blogging at Fresh Squeezed.

Describe yourself in three short, fun sentences.

I live in sunny San Diego, CA with my husband and two cats (Parker and Posey.) I'm a loyal friend, a bit shy and get tongue-tied easily. I love bright colors, Harry Potter, indie rock, and English breakfast tea.

How long have you been paper crafting? How did you get involved in paper crafting? What is your favorite aspect of paper crafting?

I've been paper crafting since October 2007. My mom had offered to make my wedding reception invitations and while looking though her old issues of Paper Crafts magazine, I thought, "I can do that!" It wasn't until after I got married that I officially started paper crafting, but I've been doing it ever since! My favorite aspect of paper crafting is the friendships I've made. I'm fairly shy and it's really helped me come out of my shell.

What do you like most about the Moxie Fab World? What is your favorite feature and why? Do you have a favorite all-time post?

What I like most about the Moxie Fab World is how it brings together cool, hip and trendy all in one place and we've got a clever hostess. My favorite feature is Out & About in Moxie Fab World. I love seeing how other people interpret current trends and discovering new-to-me people/blogs!

My all-time favorite post is Cath's tribute to Katie Renz. Kaite and I had been on a design team together and I was lucky to have met her during Winter CHA 2010. It's a beautiful post and quickly brings me to tears no matter how many times I've read it.

We are all moxie fab in our own way. Name one thing that makes you moxie fab.

Tough question! I admit that I'm a lazy paper crafter and don't branch out into techniques much, so I guess that means that I'm pretty comfortable in my design style.

Name a paper crafter who inspires you. Why are you drawn to his or her work?
One of my favorite paper crafters is Dawn Woleslagle. She's the mastermind behind Wplus9 Design and I just love her work. She's got a great eye for design, both in designing stamps and her paper crafted projects. She also takes great pictures which makes her projects shine that much more!

Another favorite of mine is Kim Hughes. Her work is fresh, funky and just fun! Some of my favorite cards in past issues of Paper Crafts magazine have been made by Kim.

How would you describe your style? Provide an image of a paper crafted project that illustrates that style best.

I definitely fall into the Clean & Graphic category but sometimes tip toe around the border of Fun & Cute. I love bright colors, simple patterns and of course, white space! I also love to paper piece and avoid coloring if at all possible.

Who is your favorite manufacturer and why? What is your favorite all-time collection and why? Have you created a paper crafted project using this collection? If so, feel free to attach it.

Every year or so I change my mind on who my favorite manufacturer is. My current favorite probably is Lily Bee Design. They have great color combos and I love their fresh designs.

My all-time favorite collection is Happy Go Lucky from Pebbles Inc. I have used almost every last scrap of that collection and I never do that! I always have lots of leftovers. Here is a my favorite project using the Happy Go Lucky collection.

Paper Crafts magazine has produced a great number of special issues over the years. Which has been the most inspiring to you and why?

The most inspiring special issue for me has been the Card Ideas for Paper Crafters. I love not only that all the projects are based on sketches, but that the sketches themselves came from the designers in the magazine. I found that to be really innovative and very inspiring!

Do you consider yourself to be a trend-watcher? Why or why not? Do you feel that trend-watching is important to your creativity? Why or why not?

I'm definitely a trends watcher, although I don't always adhere to them. I tend to go wherever my creativity takes me, especially when designing things specifically for my blog. When I'm creating for a pub call, I try to be more mindful of current trends.

I'm thinking that Ryann is every bit as fun as her cards, aren't you, friends? I love love love the designs she shared with us today and even more loved learning a bit more about what makes her tick! I'd like to thank her for taking the time to answer my questions today, and for saying such nice things about me and the Moxie Fab World. But really, it's people like Ryann, and all you Moxie Fabbers, that make this place as special as it is.

Be sure and leave Ryann some love before you go on your way today!

Moxie Fabbers ROCK,

~Cath
