The Jars of Joy Challenge

Straight from the Moxie Fabs column in the September/October issue of Paper Crafts magazine, I bring you the Jars of Joy Challenge. From the shelves of our grandmothers' pantries to the shelves of our local scrapbook stores, trendy canning jars are filled to the rim with love, light, and a joy that truly inspires.

I mean seriously, friends, Mason jars are all the rage these days. From home decor to wedding centerpieces to light fixtures to stationery to housewares, any one of us is just one little DIY project away from a Mason jar miracle. Check it:

Oh the paper crafting possibilities! Speaking of which, here are three moxie fab examples from the column itself:

Canning Jar Recipe Book Betsy Veldman
Canning Jar Recipe Book by Betsy Veldman, p. 31

Moxie Fab Alert: Betsy's project seamlessly bleands bot the shape and purpose of canning jars in this fun and cute recipe book for tasty jams and jellies.

Captured My Heart Card Julie Campbell

Moxie Fab Alert: Julie's approach to the canning jar trend is simple, sweet, and straight from the heart.

Shabby Chic Mason Jar Melissa Phillips

Moxie Fab Alert: Leave it to Melissa Phillips to create a home decor project involving an actual jar, which is at the very heart of the trend itself.

To see two additional projects from the column, turn to pages 30 and 31.

I'm hoping to have "jarred" your creativity at least a little bit today, friends. Here's what you'll need to do to join us:
  • Create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates a canning jar element in an innovative way.
  • Upload it to your blog, click on the title of that post, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Tell your readers that you've created your project for the Jars of Joy Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
  • If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Upload your projects by midnight EDT on Monday, October 8.
  • The winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, October 10 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button as well as something yummy from my moxie magical prize drawer.
I can't wait to see the kind of joy these jars bring to you!

~Cath

Such a FUN challenge!! I used jars at my wedding for center pieces in Oct. 2005!! I filled them with lavender and cream flower popturi and then found these awesome lavender vintage glass insulators to place onto the jars upside down and added candles to the insulator centers and placed them on navy bandanas that had mirrors on them!! I LOVED the way it looked and always SMILE when I see jars!! Have a FABULOUS WEEK!! =)
