How Pinteresting: Grateful to Be Pinning Again!

I've had to take a long break from Pinterest as I've been going through what I've affectionately termed my "shoulder saga." With it being so painful to be at the computer for the long months pre- and post-surgery, I'm just now getting back to wasting time having fun adding to my various Pinterest boards.

And you know me. I have just as much fun naming my boards as I do pinning to them. Check it:

My husband and I will be putting in a new kitchen at the beginning of next year, so I've been dreaming about what features I'd like to have in my dream kitchen in my board entitled Kitchen Fiction. While I still haven't settled completely on a style, I do know I'd like to have antique white cabinets like these:

...and I'm loving those blue accents as well--especially that TDF subway tile back splash!

We have a large picture window in our kitchen that overlooks our pasture with a broad view in the distance (we can see all the way to Massachusetts which is over 40 miles away!), so I love the idea of this nook with all its windows, and the beauty of it is that this is something we could actually do:

For me, the best part about Pinterest is being able to assemble images of things I love, knowing that I'll never have the space or the budget to indulge in all of them. For example, I've always loved funky accent chairs, and I recently pinned these to my Chair-ish board:

After I pinned that flor-rific chair, I realized that one of the reasons I love it so much is that the fabric is adapted from the pattern in this 2012 calendar from Rifle Paper Co. that hangs in my office.

I seem to be drawn to similarly short and squatty chairs, as I just pinned this one yesterday:

Here are a couple of funs from my What a Great Idea board, including these button push pins:

...and these twig plant markers:

One of my favorite things in the whole wide world to do is cook, and now that I can stir again (hurray!), I'd love to try these recipes from my Try Me board:

My daughters will be here for a visit exactly two weeks from today, so I'm thinking these S'mores Cookie Bars--so seasonal and fun--will be fun to try.

I don't know about you, but I absolutely adore all things lavender. I even wrote a poem about it once. I've tried lavender lemonade and lavender ice cream, so why not this Honey Lavender Cake?

I could go on and on, but I do realize you have a life to get back to, so I'll finish with these recent lovelies that I pinned to my board entitled Cards I Just Love. While I have boards associated with the content that I pin from the Moxie Fab World and Paper Crafts magazine (of course), this board is for the myriad of moxie fab cards that I see when I am out and about, a-bipping and a-bopping from place to place in my online travels, for no other reason than to celebrate the pure and simple joy of card making.

Here's a clean and graphic wonderment from Maile Belles:

This delightful concoction by Danielle Flanders brings me unspeakable joy:

How about you? What is your favorite thing about Pinterest AND/OR which of these pins inspires you the most and why? Leave me a comment by midnight EDT on Sunday, July 22 and I'll draw one random lucky to receive something delicious from my moxie magical prize drawer!

Grateful to be pinning again,

~Cath

PPS Would you like an invitation to Pinterest? Send me an email at cedvalson@papercraftsmag.com and I'll hook you up!

PS CHA is in full swing! And even though I'm feeling much, much better and am getting back into the blessed and much-missed routine of my life, it was such a good decision not to go as I'm still not able to sleep in a bed (I tried once again last night but still couldn't get comfortable) and I still tire easily from basic tasks. But Susan and Kelly have got it covered on the Paper Crafts Facebook Fan Page, so be sure and tune in to all the goings on over there. AND, we're teaming up with our dear friends at Creating Keepsakes as well, so be sure and check out their Facebook Fan Page for a double dose of new product inspiration!

I am loving all your pins today...well, the grey chair threw me a little sideways but those smores cookie bars...I didn't even wait to finish reading your post. I had to go check them out! I have company coming next week and I think they will be needing some.
You must be excited to start your kitchen. Our's is still under construction but I am glad it's taking a while since I have the ability to make changes as we go. (We are doing most of the work) Like my DW is built up over a small cabinet so it's easier to unload. It's all ivory right now with bead board trim and pink knobs. :)
Glad you are feeling better. Next CHA you will show them how it's done!

I have not joined Pinterest as I hear its quite addictive but I have enjoyed seeing other peoples "pinned" projects. I am glad you are starting to feel a bit better and I bet you will be so excited to be able to sleep in a bed, hopefully very soon. Thanks for the chance to win....kim.scrapper@yahoo.ca

My inspiration is very much fueled by seeing things. I'm so visual. Pinterest helps me to see my ideas, even if it is just a starting point for spinning off on my own way. It has been the biggest help in the massive purging and organizing I have been doing.

Carmen Nuland said...

I love that Pinterest is so visual. What I don't like is that it can be a total time suck LOL! I don't pin a lot myself, but I love seeing what ends up on the boards I follow. I do have a "for the home" board where I pin ideas for our next home and inspirational crafting boards

I am totally addicted to Pinterest. I loved setting names for my boards too. As the selfish narcissistic person that i am, each one of my boards starts with 'I ..." hehehe I recently a whole bunch of my favorite music in the "I listen..." board. And in the last couple weeks, my "I want..." board has been filling up with loads of CHA releases that i absolutely cannot wait to add to my stash! Glad you're feeling better Cath and thank you so much for your posts every day! :)

It's the little things, isn't it, Cath? Glad to hear you can get back to pinning again. My fave thing about Pinterest is that when I receive emails from Better Homes and Gardens or Etsy, I can pin the images I like and clean out my email. So nice to know my boards are there for me to refer to - and the bonus is that others repin my pins, which is kinda fun.

brenlubrant said...

I don't pin, but I love checking out other people's pins. I just recently received a lot of inspiration for ideas to create a gallery wall in my livingroom,

I love "dreaming" on Pinterest. lol It is my place to pretend that I can wear skinny jeans or have a mansion, or make cards as gorgeous as my favorite artits. So FUN!

I love ALL of the things you posted. Those chairs are awesome and the cards are both gorgeous. Love the kitchen. The Better Homes and Gardens photo gave me great inspiratin for colors.

I love the fact that Pinterest gives me a system that allows me to collect fun ideas in a way that's easy and accessible...and space saving! I used to keep binders of photos or recipes torn out of magazines, etc....no need for that now. I can just create a new pin board. Love, love, love!

I have to confess, I have yet to try pinterest, the main reason--lack of time! But I do enjoy looking at other people's stuff-on their blogs or Facebook. I have friends that do lots of pinning, but I've told myself if I do that I will have NO time at all to craft, and I'm currently addicted to a few crafty blogs, like this one! I'm glad your shoulder is getting better Cath--and I love checking out your pins!

I can so relate to the difficulties of sleeping after shoulder surgery. I had a torn rotator cuff and a bond spur fix last October. I was out of work for two full months which I had not planned for (doc said 3-4 weeks - not!). For sleeping, my new best friend became my travel pillow, you know those half circle pillows you see on planes. I found this to be the perfect thing to use for my arm. I would wrap part of it just under my shoulder and then have the other end rest on my chest with my hand on top for support. I used that for almost three months but it truly helped me to sleep in a regular bed again. I also used it while watching TV to help support my arm. My husband used to laugh at me while I searched for this pillow before going to bed. Hope your arm continues to improve.

Cath, my favorite would be the kitchen nook from Better Homes and Gardens. I have seen and loved this photo before and what I find so intersting is that other crafters and card makers love the same things I do! I equally love the happy feeling that that give me. LOL So glad you're feeling better. Something to help you with stamina, would be water exercises you could do at a heated indoor swimming pool. ;)
