Card Creations Week: The Doilies & Lace Challenge

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, some trends are simply timeless. We called attention to the doilies and lace trend in the Moxie Fabs column in March/April 2010 issue of Paper Crafts magazine, and again here in the Moxie Fab World.

As I turned the pages of Card Creations, Volume 10, one after the other, I was struck by how many stunning projects there were that incorporated these artifacts from a by-gone day, and I was amazed, once again, to realize how long-lasting some trends can be. Check it:

Hello Sweet Lady by Clare Buswell, p. 94

Moxie Fab Alert: Not only does this gorgeous card have a trendy doily as the backdrop for its stunning focal point, the cameo itself is a long-lasting trend. We featured cameos in the Moxie Fabs column in the January/February 2011 issue and here in the Moxie Fab World. Psst...and isn't that color combination to die for?

Lace & Flowers Card by Betsy Veldman, p. 113

Moxie Fab Alert: The lace handkerchief stamped and embossed on this card is about the sweetest thing I've seen in a while, and I see A LOT of very sweet things. (And I can't get over how real it looks. I was expecting the supplies and instructions to say that Betsy had used a handkerchief she found in a cherished treasure box!)

Elegant Mother's Day Card by Windy Robinson, p. 116

Moxie Fab Alert: Can you say holy cow drop-dead gorgeous of a Mothers Day card? Again, the lace element has been stamped, proving that the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to incorporating this trend into your paper crafted projects.

Are you as ga-ga about this trend as I am, friends? If so, check out these instructions in order to join in on all the fun:
  • Create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates a doily or lace element in an innovative way.
  • Upload it to your blog, click on the title of that post, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Tell your readers that you've created your project for the Doilies & Lace Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
  • If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Upload your projects by midnight EDT on Monday, June 4.
  • The winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, June 6 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button as well as a copy of Card Creations, Volume 10.
I'm diggin' on doilies and lace,

~Cath

Now that I've made my card I thought of a different way to do it to make it look more lacy. It was a fun challenge and I've never done a white on white card. I love these challenges as I stretch doing them.

While sorting through my cutting files I came across the file I used on my second entry here. It was begging me to make another card. Surprisingly I've enjoyed making a more girly card. Thanks for this challenge.

Ok....can I say....something "odd" happened....my name just double posted....one was a card from the watercolor butterfly challenge....I don't know why, and don't know if there is any way to remove it! Please disregard that one.....sorry!
