The Cool Tools Week Challenge Winners

What do you get when you combine 1 innovative special issue inspiring 5 separate challenges spawning 560 creative entries awarding 10 moxie fab winners by 1 very exhausted but gratified blog host? A whole lotta insipiration, that's what!

Myohmyohmy but you Moxie Fabbers offer up some stunning approaches to the challenges I throw at you! And again, because of the painful condition of my shoulder/arm, I left comments until I just simply could no longer, but I did look at every single entry, and all I can say is, "Wow!"

The creative ideas for how to use the various tools in these challenges were vast and inspiring. I mean, in the Around the House challenge alone, we had these innovative ideas: embossing with rice, stamping with bubble wrap, using red wine as a dye, creating a background from dish soap, as well as many others.

I could go on and on, but what you really want to see is the winners, right? So now, without further ado, I give you the Cool Tools Week challenge winners (and believe you me, the whittling down process was positively grueling!)

May I have a drum roll, please?

Here are the winners from the Die Cutting Challenge:

Rainbow Hello Card by JJ Bolton

Moxie Fab Alert: I moxie love the rainbow JJ has created by adding specially cut rings to the die-cut letters. What an innovative way to "layer" a card's meaning visually!

Little Someone Card by Vera W. Yates

Moxie Fab Alert: The trend factor in this sweet card is high, high, high! That little deer with her eclectic and oh-so-scrappy striping is simply moxie fab, and I just love that Vera's used the negative die cut to emphasize the delightful surprise underneath!

Other notable die-cut cards from this challenge include Michelle Leone, Virginia L., and Lin.

Here are the winners of the Cutting & Trimming Challenge:

Aqua Sea Card by N@

Moxie Fab Alert: The colors. The movement. The simple technique. The mood. This card is a perfect example of a how a creative use of a technique combined with good design principles can send a card into the stratosphere!

Hexagon Thanks Card by Lorena Canto

Moxie Fab Alert: Using a craft knife, Loreno has found an easy peasy way to remove the insides of the hexagons for a moxie fab effect!

Other moxie fab cards in this category include: Isha, Karen DunbrookNadine (wahinelei)Susan Zuzarte, Vera W. Yates, and Ryann Salamon.

The winners of the Punches Challenge are:

Gradient Love Card by Candy

Moxie Fab Alert: Hello gorgeous and magical card that uses a heart-shaped punch to create a palette of wonder!

What's the Word Card by Cornelia Wenokor

Moxie Fab Alert: This funky cardinal was created using various punches. I can't get over how much character Cornelia has given him by the placement of the shapes, and the sentiment is a perfect style match to the mood of her card. Moxie to the fab, indeed!

Other notable entries in this category include: Jingle, Laura BassenSmitha KattiSimone Naoum, Marion,  and Larissa Heskett.

The winners of the Embossing & Debossing Challenge are:

Love U Card by Linda Beeson

Moxie Fab Alert: Linda created the raised background in her card by simply scoring on the diagonal and then sanding the lines to create more texture and dimension--a moxie fab technique that is so elegant in its simplicity I can hardly stand it. The kicker for me, though, is the way she's layered her focal point into the design she's created by the scoring using a color scheme and eclectic mixture of fonts that just screams hip!

Embossed Birthday Card by Joan Ervin

Moxie Fab Alert: Oh my gorgeousness! I just love the idea of layering embossed elements to create a three-dimensional scene, and Joan has done it so beautifully I just want to clap my hands for the sheer joy in it all.

Here are some additional cards that I just can't move on without mentioning: Gayatri, Jen W., Steph Lee (Arty Carty),  and Lynn.

And last but certainly not least, the winners of the Around the House Challenge are:

Happy Valentine's Day Card by Heather Maria

Moxie Fab Alert: Heather used a cereal box and a discarded tulip sack to create the die-cut circles on this innovative and down-to-earth card!

Knit Happens Card by Sarah Shewell

Moxie Fab Alert: Trendy, punny, and supah fun, Sarah created knitting needles out of toothpicks. Me moxie likey!

Be sure and check out these additional household-creative cards: Jen Shears, N@, Trinh, and stampersuzz

Phew! That's some moxie inspiration, isn't it, friends? I'd love to hear how you've been inspired today, so leave these ladies some love and/or comment on how you've been motivated to create by midnight EST on Sunday, February 19 and I'll draw one more lucky to receive a copy of Cool Tools to have for your very own self!

Winners (that is, those of you whose cards have been shown), please send me your addresses in an email to cedvalson@papercraftsmag.com and I'll not only set you up with your "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button for your blogs, but I'll also send you your own personal copy of Cool Tools as well.

Thanks to all 560 who played along!

Cool Tools rocks!

~Cath

PS I got another cortisone shot yesterday in which the doc poked, prodded, and jabbed at my calcium deposits for about 4-5 minutes. It didn't hurt all that much at the time (once the litocaine had kicked in, that is), but man-oh-man was my arm sore for the rest of the day yesterday (hence the tardiness of today's post.) I feel much better today and am hopeful that this one will do the trick, but I probably won't know until I see how I progress in the next couple of weeks. Again, I can't thank you enough for all your kind words in the comments here in the Moxie Fab World, on Facebook, and in the cards and emails all y'all are sending me. I am so lucky to have such kind and concerned friends! I'm off to rest now. Enjoy your Wednesday!

Your shoulder sounds so painful, I'm surprised you can still do all the work that you are doing! I'm sure the lovely ladies won't be offended that you simply couldn't comment on 560 posts. And what fabulous projects they were. Narrowing that down to 10 (with only an additional few special mentions) must've been one of the hardest jobs ever!!! Congrats to all.

CONGRATS to all the winners and notable mentions! I am inspired and motvated by the winning cards, as well as some of the "notables." In particular, since I work with recycled mateials and burlap, Heather's simple but wonderful Valentine card certainly made me smile. I adore the personality created by the clever paper piecing on Cornelia's card. I was taken with the design of the Aqua Sea and Hexagons cards. Joan's card left my mouth hanging open! Loved looking! TF continuing to post--through the pain and discomfort. You're such a trooper. Continued good wishes. :)

My fave "complete package deal" card is "knit happens". Reminds me of a baby bib I bought once that said "spit happens" :)

The first tool I will probably grab is my score board to try out Laurie's embossing on Coredinations CS.
