The Next Challenge in the Moxie Fab World: Card Play

Stack the trendy deck in your favor by using playing cards in your paper crafted designs. Let's begin by shuffling around the Internet for some suit-able inspiration, shall we? Check it:

How's that for a trendy deal?

And not only are playing cards all the rage, they're readily available in paper crafting collections, stashed at home in your game cupboard, or are even easily created with stamps! Here are three projects from the September/October Moxie Fabs column that are great examples of how fun it can be to incorporate playing cards into your game plan:

Use a Hand Card by Kim Kesti, p. 25

Moxie Fab Alert: Kim has taken a punny approach to playing cards in this fun encouragement card, but note how she reinforces the playing card "theme" with the club background paper as well.

Family of Hearts Mini Album by Julia Stainton, p. 24

Moxie Fab Alert: In this extraordinary album made from playing cards, Julia has used the "7" card for her album cover because there are seven members of her family. She's used all heart cards to fit her album's title, Family of Hearts. How sharp is that?

Future Hold Card by Betsy Veldman, p. 25

Moxie Fab Alert: The genius in this card lies in the fact that Betsy has created her own playing cards with stamps. Just think of all the seasonal possibilities when you create these puppies yourself!

Are you working on your strategy? I hope so, because chances are you're holding the trump card right in your hot little hand!

Here are the deets you'll need to sit at the table:
  • Create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates playing card(s) in an innovative way.
  • Upload it to your blog, click on the title of that post, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Tell your readers that you've created your project for the Card Play Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
  • If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Upload your projects by midnight EDT on Monday, October 3.
  • The winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, October 5 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button as well as a truly moxie fab prize.
Whether you bet high, low, or somewhere in between, I promise you this challenge is definitely worth the gamble.

Thank goodness I'm all out of puns,

~Cath

PS To see a love card using a real playing card by Cristina Kowalczyk and a thank you card by Teri Anderson that uses a playing card from the Emma's Shoppe collection by Crate Paper, turn to page 26 of the September/October issue of Paper Crafts magazine.

PPS Love the Moxie Fab World Challenges? There are four others going on at this time as well. See the right-hand side of this blog for our moxie fab sketch challenges. The deadline for each is September 19.
