Moxie Talk: Go-to Gal Kim Kesti Talks Color Blocking

I’d love to chat with you today about a trend that is really making me stand up and notice. Color blocking seems to be showing up everywhere. We’ve seen it creep into the fashion industry for several years, but the Spring 2011 shows were literally popping with color. Check out this line up.

Can’t afford couture fashion? Check out this more affordable version from Anthropologie.

Not a size six? (Ha. Ha.) How about a handbag…

Or a moxie fab pair of shoes?

Too much fun! I also found fascinating samples of color blocking in the design field. These walls are practically works of art!

And, of course my beloved Etsy had quite a few samples of this colorful trend. One of my favorites is this adorable set of note cards from New York graphic artist RueRenee.

So, has the color blocking trend made its way to the scrapbook world? You bet it has! If you know my style at all, you will understand why these bright and bold products make my heart flutter.

Ready to test the waters in your own paper crafting endeavors? Follow my lead. I don’t own any of the fantastic products above, but I DO have lots of colorful cardstock. Bet you do, too! Here’s the card I created.

Talk about simple! But, this card really packs a punch. I paired cardstock with that great button from Pebbles and a graphic sentiment stamp from Stampin’ Up!.

Color blocking + paper crafting = love,

~Kim

P.S. Check my blog today to see another fun color blocked card!

Love it so much I want to go to my craft room and make a card right this second! But I'm at work, can't do that. I'll do the next best thing. Use what I have at my desk!Note/Scrap paper, post-its, label maker & I'll even through in fortune from yesterday's lunch! Ta-da! I can color block at work!
