Who's doin' the stampy dance?
I see you there, jivin' on out, so let's get started, shall we?
One of the hottest--and most fun--techniques out there right now is stamping with markers. I don't know about you, but I think it stems from our love of "coloring" when we were little tykes. There's a certain delightful brand of joy that we get from coloring in an outlined form to bring it to life, dontchatink?
The cool thing about stamping with markers is that it can be really complex, or it can be super easy. Take these two cards from the issue, for example. In these moxie fab examples by the moxie talented Mariana Grigsby, we've got an advanced approach and a simple approach--but note how each way of coloring fits each different style of the cards she created so appropriately.
Let's begin with the simple approach:
Floatie Fun Card, p. 29
Moxie Fab Alert: In this supah fun card, Mariana has just colored in the stamped image, but note the way she incorporated color. It looks like she filled it in quickly, without going all the way to the edges of the lines, which creates an effect of light-hearted joviality which fits perfectly with the style of stamps she's chosen.(Recognize this card? Tiffany Johnson used it as her inspiration to create a truly moxie fab card in last week's edition of Project: Inspired By!)
Now for the more advanced card:
Wonderful Day Card, p. 35
Moxie Fab Alert: In this treatment, Mariana has used markers to expertly color and shade the butterfly to give it color, texture, and dimension. It is as if we are looking at a real butterfly, which is also most suitably appropriate for this style of card.
Are you ready to give this challenge a try?
If so, allow me to fill in the details:
- Create a stamped paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates a stamping with markers technique in an innovative way. (For more ideas, see pages 23-35 of Stamp It! Techniques--including step-by-step photos on pages 23-25.)
- Upload it to your blog, click on the title of that post, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
- Tell your readers that you've created your project for the Stamping with Markers Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
- If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
- Upload your projects by midnight EST on Monday, March 14.
- Two winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, March 16 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button, a copy of Stamp It! Techniques, as well as THIS moxie fab prize:
That's right! It's the 36 brand new colors added to the Copic Markers Ciao Marker line (Set E.)
O. M. Goodness!
Ready? Set! Rev up your markers!

PS Speaking of challenges, today is the last day to enter the Appearance of Cameos challenge. I hope your project makes its own "cameo appearance" before the deadline of midnight tonight! ;)

Awe, what a great prize. I lOOvveee copic markers. I am just learning copics and I am self taught. The card I entered, I made pleats in Tilda's dress and there were none, so I was happy that I figured out how to do it :o)
What a delicious prize! I am excited. I am so thrilled with my copics! I have a few more entries....but will have to wait for them to post (they are scheduled)...this is exciting!
When I found out about Copic Markers a few months ago. I was telling myself oh no wayy I'm not getting them tooo much money but yup I got 4 color close to the family colors just to give it a try and omg. And I have tons of other markers and I was really just wasting money because they would dry up fast but let me tell you guys Copic is the best markers you can get they don't dry up at all and best part you can just refill them oh and change the tips. I have started to get the Ciao. But that's just me. So if your thinking about getting them and you haven't yet come on what are you waiting for jump on it. Just do what I did buy just a few and try them out. :0)
P.S ~ Thank you for letting me share my thoughts.
