Five (x3) for Friday: Hello from Hedgehog Heaven

Is there anything much cuter in the whole entire world than a hedgehog? My friend and co-worker, Holly Mills, is the proud mama of this little cutie pie, Brillo:

I know, right? Doesn't just one look at that sweet little face framed by those salt-and-pepper quills make your heart skip a beat...or two? Or maybe even three?

Following my mantra that inspiration is absolutely everywhere, I wasn't exactly hedging my bets when I found all these for this week's edition of Five for Friday:

Hedgehog Nursery Art Print from barkingbirdart

A Hedgehog of Letters Blank Gretting Card from trafalgarssquare

Hedgehog Art Print from boygirlparty

Hedgehog Charm and Initial Necklace from MadisonCraftStudio

Hedgehog Letterpress Notecard Set from luckybeepress

Hedgehog Love Embroidery Pattern from AmyBrinkmanDesigns

Hedgehog Mini Hair Clip from MayCrimson

Hedgehog Print on Vintage Book Paper from CrowBiz

Hedgehog Wall Decal from greywolfgraphics

Hedgehog Wedding Cake Topper from fliepsiebieps

Hedgehog with Hat Print from poordogfarm

Wild Blue Yonder Hedgehog Cards from deepfried

Little Hedgehog Necklace in Silver and Concrete from lulubugjewelry

Modern Animal Hedgehog from decoylab

Little Amigurumi Hedgehog Pattern from AmyGaines

Raise your hand if you're smiling! I know I am. In fact, these little guys have made me feel so giddy, I'd love to give away a prize from my moxie magical prize drawer to one random winner. Just leave me a comment that says which of these you like most and why and/or what is the most unusual pet you've ever owned by midnight MST on Sunday, November 7.

Hailing from hedgehog heaven,

~Cath

PS This is the last weekend to work on your entries to our Diggin' on Damask challenge here in the Moxie Fab World. Hope to see you there!

Love that little hedgehog crochet pattern! I would love a hedgehog but my cat might not like it so much! Thanks for the chance to win!

We don't have hedgehogs in Australia but they sure look cute. Do they make good pets? We have a pet galah (a pink and grey parrot) who is being very noisy at the moment as I type. I love the felt hairclip the best.

This has to be one of the cutest posts ever - thanks for the big smile! My favorite is "A Hedgehog of Letters Blank Gretting Card from trafalgarssquare" - that little hedgie peeking out behind the book is plain adorable.

This is a cute post! I love the little hairclip best! The wierdest pet... well we had 2 abyssian guinea pigs. They are the kind with the wild hair! Not really strange... but they were cute!

Which of these hedgies do I like the most? It's hard to pick just one, but I'd have to go with the Hedgehog Mini Hair Clip. That would look ADORABLE in my 11yo DD's long blond hair :)

These are definitely irresistable and put a smile on my face. I love the wedding cake toppers--so cute!!!!

Too cute...I love the Little Amigurumi Hedgehog Pattern from AmyGaines. Just makes me smile.

I never considered the cuteness of hedgehogs before -- and the goodies are cute (especially that necklace with the concrete), but the cutest is definitely the real one!! Most of our pets have been normal, but when I was a kid we had lots of fish, including one that grew to the size of a dinner plate! He was HUGE.

SharonS said...

I've never had a hedgehog and I wonder why because I think they're adorable! My most unusual pet was a chinchilla. They are the softest animals on earth.

Donna VW said...

I love the Little Amigurumi Hedgehog Pattern from AmyGaines because she has a cute flower in her hair. My sister actually had two hedgehogs for pets some years ago. She had special gloves that you had to wear to hold them. They are very cute animals.

LOVE the letterpress notecards! The colors are fantastic and so appealing to me. As far as pets, I've never owned anything but a dog...though the fact that she ran away everytime she managed to sneak out whenyou opened the door was kinda weird! LOL

Our most unusual pet was a tarantula we named Chris. We had him for maybe a year? Not so good for snuggling but very soft to pet, actually.

The hedgehogs are adorable, all of them. I love the cake toppers.

Sarah said...

Oh my goodness! These are all too cute! No interesting pets here. Just goldfish.

Blue6366 said...

Those wedding toppers sure caught my eye. What a cute way to top off a wedding cake. And how funny that you highlighted the hedgehog - back in May I created a graduating hedgehog notebook as part of my daughter's graduation gift. As for 'unusual' pets, do ferrets count? We have two. ;o)

Geri said...

The hedgehog cake toppers are adorable! But Brilo is my favorite! How cute is he, eh?

That sweet little hedgehog blank greeting card really made me smile. And, I was looking for Mrs. Tiggy Winkle from Beatrix Potter. She's my all time fave hedgehog! Thanks, Cath!

The photo of the real life hedgehog is my favorite, but those wedding toppers come in a close 2nd. Too cute!
I guess the most exotic pets I ever owned were a Cockatoo, an African Grey, and Sun Conure parrots.

The hedgehog charm and initial necklace is the cutest thing ever! I love these little guys--are they indoor pets?

Larajc said...

I am not sure why, but the hedgehog clock is wonderful! I think the oddest pet we had was a brown hamster with red eyes...king of creepy but he was a nice little guy!

Laurel said...

Love the hedgehog notecards... well because I'm a stamper!

Christina said...

Completely adorable! A neighbor of mine has a pet hedgehog and he is the sweetest thing. My favorite is that darling hair clip! Thanks for the smiles this morning.

MelissaS said...

So cute! I Love the wedding cake topper. It reminds me of a book my son has, called Porcupining. About a little porcupine in the petting zoo who just wants someone to love him, but he's too prickly for everyone. He finds love in the end with a hedgehog. Too sweet :)

Kelly Massman said...

Oh, did you HAVE to show me the cutest animal ever-I'd really love to have a hedgie!!!!
The most unusual "pet" we ever had was a dove named Jamey that we rescued from a dog who had it firmly grasped in its teeth. Jamey hung around in our front yard for a long time after that!

Jaclyn Miller said...

Yep. definitely smiling. :) I love that little guy at the end with his super spiky hair. Too cute. Growing up, my sister and I had a pet salamander...until one day he just disappeared...later to be found in a trash bag in our room, alive and well.

My fave is the

Hedgehog of letters notecards----

I love to read -so anything with book on it is for me--I also love to send cards!--Perfect!

Lin said...

I'll play! Aren't these the most interesting animals? I've never seen one for real - do they exist here in the states in the wild? I like the boygirlparty example you showed with the hedgie playing at the piano......which brings me to my memory.
My youngest sister growing up had all kinds of animal pets..we thought sure she'd end up being a vet, but she is a musician instead. Her most unusual pet was a porcupine. She got him when he was a baby, and eventually released him back to the wild. Everyone else had to handle him while wearing giant thick work gloves, but he relaxed his quills only for her. I think she named him Barney.
Thanks for making me remember this!

They are cute! I always favored elephants, but never had one as a pet!

Stephanie Smith said...

I love the blank notecard of the hedgehog with the books around it. As far as strange pets, right now we have a gecko. It doesn't look like the geico gecko either. It looks more like the dragons off of how to train your dragon. We've even had a snake in the past. Glad we got rid of that.

thestampinglady said...

The real one--I was just smiling ear to ear with your topic today, thinking you never know what to expect on Moxie Fab. Strangest pet--a catfish caught in our pond. We put it in the horse trough and kept him there for 3 years. My sisters and I must have been 6, 10 and I was 12 at the time. He would surface when he patted the water and seemed to us to talk back. What a memory!

Well, I like Brillo the best - such a cutie patootie!!! But of the others you showed, I think Little Amigurumi Hedgehog Pattern from Amy Gaines is just adorable!!!

As for the oddest pet I've ever had, well, my Daddy loved coming up with wierd things, so we had everything from cats and dogs, calves and horses up to flying squirrels, chipmunks, and even an alligator! Although I have to admit the alligator wasn't all that loveable!

Romaine said...

There is something about the one printed on the book paper that really appeals to me, though my dd really loved the last one that is sold as a pattern. This is the same child that has been bugging me to get one as she has a friend that has a hedgie and she is in love!

Kelly Sas said...

My family loves little critters so we have had/have them all... Chinchilla, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, and more. The most unusual though was a white mouse my daughter noticed at the pet store and pointed out to the owners who in turn said "oh, we didn't see him. He will have to be terminated". So of course my daughter HAD to buy him and take him home. He was born without one front leg and missing one eye. He didn't live long - we figured he probably had other more serious internal problems because he also loved to run around in circles and throw himself against the wall of his cage. We had to pad it! Yes, great life learning and teaching opportunities to take advantage of!

What a little cutie! My favorite is the crochet hedgehog ;) The strangest "pet" that we ever owned was a black widow spider! The boys kept her in a jar for about 4 months and fed her crickets....yuck! I even did a layout for them even though the whole thing gave me the heebie jeebies ;) BTW...female black widows CAN lay several egg sacks with no males around...lol.

My most unusual pet as a child was a bluebelly lizard that I found outside. The thing I remember most is that he got out of his little cage that was in my bedroom 1 day & my mom was NOT a happy camper. After that it was just dogs or cats for me lol.

I love all these little hedgies. I guess I will comment on a pet my family owned back a few years ago. When my girls were in middle school I worked in their school library as a para. The librarian was a big animal lover. She had a menagerie in her home that spilled over into our library. She ended up giving us a little Leopard Ghecko who had some deformities in her limbs. She was a cutie, at least to us. LOL We named her "Zena". We had her 3 years until she succombed to some kind of ailment. I miss her, but I don't miss having to buy live crickets to feed to her. It was like having pets for the pet. LOL Thanks for a chance to win, too.

It's a toss up between the letterpress and the amigurumi...so cute!

I had an orange rooster named Butterscotch who would follow me everywhere and sit on my lap. Very unusual.

I grew up with a lion fish- not sure if that counts, since technically it was my dad's! Those are the tropical fish whose venom will kill you.... different!

What a cute post, Cath! Brillo is so sweet and that's a perfect name for a hedgehog - makes me think of a brillo pad and brilliant as well. I love anything to do with hedgehogs but my favorite has to be the Little Amigurumi Hedgehog by AmyGaines - adorable! The most unusual pets we've had were sea monkeys.

Cath, that is the cutes little pet I've ever seen. I am a HUGE animal lover. All my live I have brought every stray dog, cat home.. have had horses, snakes, rats, you name it. The most fave was our pot belly pig named Jimmy Dean. Soooo smart.

I think the cutes of all you found are those cake toppers. Adorable.

They are so cute but my question is - How do you care for a hedgehog? Is it like a dog, or a cat?

Julie Masse said...

Ok Cath, now I want a hedgehog!! That is the cutest thing ever! Sadly they are not allowed as pets in Maine. :( But you found some super cute hedgehog alternatives! :)

I love the hedgehog clock! It would look so great in a cabin by the lake--my retirement dream! Can't say I've had a very unusual pet, though we did bring the little "tree frogs" into the house from the yard when we were kids.

My favourite is the the cute (real) one at the top. I've never ever seen a hedgehog. Any chance of some video of him?

Just love that wall clock! Who would've thought hedgies would be so popular? The most unusual pet I ever had was a chuckwalla...it's a kind of lizard that puffs up between the rocks of the California desert. Hence the name Puff the Magic Dragon. Thanks!
