The Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge Winners!

Oh my have I got some yummies for you today, my moxie fab friends! All y'all just rocked the Perfectly Placed Pleats challenge, and though there were many, many bee-u-tee-ful entries that incorporated gor-gee-ous pleats, I did have to narrow it down to just five.

Drum roll, please...

Elegant Hello Card by Trinh

Moxie Fab Alert: Friends, this is about as moxie fab as it ever gets. Trinh scored and folded a sheet of blue card stock, and then masked off each area before stamping and heat embossing. She had to do a bit of calculating to determine where she would do the scoring for the pleats, but nothing too complex. She used to add pleats to her gift wrap and was excited to have the opportunity to adapt it to a card for this challenge. Me? I am breathless!

With Sympathy Card by Viola Mahr

Moxie Fab Alert: I'm not sure when I've ever seen a card that looks so soft. It is a soft card for a delicate occasion and it is perfectly executed for its purpose. The sweet, understated background patterned paper, the hushed tone of cardstock, the dusty vines made of chalk ink, and the floral embellishment with its center of pearls--all upon a bed of homespun stitched pleats. It is sensitive. It is beautiful. It is, my friends, moxie fab.

Happy Turkey Day Card by Belinda Chang Langner

Moxie Fab Alert: How fun is this card? I love the color combination with the pop of orange, I love that little turkey guy, and I triple love the sentiment style because it fits the tone of everything on the card. And you know it's coming, friends. Pleating the turkey? And not just pleating it but pleating a scalloped shape to give it extra dimension? Moxie fab, Belinda! Simply moxie fab!

Hello Cupcake Card by Pattie Goldman

Moxie Fab Alert: Yet another innovative way to incorporate pleats into a card--cupcake holders! Moxie love! You know what else I love about this card? The fact that Pattie's stamped these delicious line-drawn flowers on such a sweet patterned paper and then used them for the cupcake toppers. Who wouldn't love to receive one (or two) of these?

Journey Through Card by Susan Conrad

Moxie Fab Alert: Oh. My. Moxie. Fab. Susan, this card is positively artful. From the techniques employed, to the creative adaptation of pleats, to the metaphorical layers it implies, to the enduring meaning, this card speaks to me deeply. I am encouraged just by looking at it. As for its lucky recipient, it will be an absolute gift.

What do you think, friends? Are these cards inspiring, or what? Join me in congratulating these talented ladies, as I'm sure they would just love to hear from you today!

So pleased with these pleats,

~Cath

PS Did you know? There's a new call for submissions from Paper Crafts magazine. You, yes YOU, could be published in our May/June 2010 issue. Click here and give it your best shot! For what, indeed, have you got to lose?
