Moxie Fab World Challenge: Perfectly Placed Pleats

Straight from the pages of Paper Crafts magazine, our next challenge is all about the pleat!

In our September/October PC101 column, Go-to Gal Maren Benedict came up with a plethora of pleasing paradigms in which pleats were perfectly placed.  Check it:

Create ruffles by layering loosely pleated paper strips.
Dimensional landscapes are easy with large pleats cut on a curve.
Make flowers by folding and gathering paper.
Brooms and skirts stand out with accordion folds gathered at the top.
Frame a focal point with scored and folded paper strips.
Dress up a die cut shape by adhering pleated paper.
Pleat background paper for instant visual interest.
Stamp on tightly pleated paper to add dimension to an image.
Create faux ribbon with a pleated paper strip and a folded bow.
Pretty cool, huh? In this particularly playful project, Maren has incorporated two different pleating techniques--creating a ruffle and adding dimension to a familiar shape:
Batty 4 U Gift Bag, p. 28
In this pretty project, Maren has created both a frame and a flower with pleats:
Pleated Flower for You Card, p.27
Whaddayatink? Can you come up with some clever ways to incorporate pleats into your paper crafted projects? Let's give it a go, shall we? Here's what you'll need to know to propel yourself into pleatdom:
  • Create a project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates pleats in an innovative way.
  • Upload it to your blog, click on your blog's title, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Tell your readers that you've created your project for the Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
  • If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below. Make sure you set the security on your photo so that I can copy it. If I can't copy the image, I won't be able to offer it as a winning entry.
  • Upload your projects by midnight on Monday, October 25.
  • The winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, October 27 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button as well as a moxie fab prize.
Pleased by pleats,

~Cath

This is my first time entering a Moxifab challange. My card uses a ribbon pleat, not really inventive, but new for me, since I just started sewing on my cards.

Oh, I saw, that I pasted the wrong link for my enty. The second one is OK, but I can not delete the first one. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I had fun figuring out how I would get my pleats to stay for sewing. Here is my trick. I put a piece of paper under my pleated ribbon and then sewed threw it and cut the paper away leaving only a small strip of it under the pleated ribbon. It made it easy to attach to my card. I hope you like it it is way out my box for colors.
