Five for Friday: Card Style Week Begins on Monday!

We've been keeping this secret for months now. And I mean literal months. Oh holy Hannah does it feel good to let the proverbial cat out of its dark, lonely bag.

Holy Hannah!

That's right, my moxie fab friends. Our latest special issue, Card Style, is about to hit the newsstands with, well, style.

'Cause that's what this issue is all about--style. As in, what's yours and how can you develop it to its fullest potential? As in, what elements define a particular style? As in, show me a bunch of inspiring cards in a certain style and I'll have some fun challenging myself trying styles outside of my comfort zone. As in, wow that's a ton of inspiration and thank you very much for organizing them according to the styles that appeal to me most. As in, all occasions and holidays organized by style, let's see what's speaking to me the loudest today.

As in, this magazine is chock full of inspiration including these moxie trendies to kick off our week-long celebration of Card Style which begins on Monday of next week. Check it:

Your Day to Shine Card by Kim Kesti, p. 9

Moxie Fab Alert: Due to its whimsical nature, those trendy Japanese lanterns, festive stripes, and a punny birthday sentiment, this card screams "fun and cute" and "says" moxie fab any way you look at it!

King of the Remote Card by Teri Anderson, p. 46

Moxie Fab Alert: The use of white space, simple shapes, a graphic icon, and a simple font all work together to make one moxie fab clean and graphic wow!

Peacock Feather Card by Windy Robinson, p. 77

Moxie Fab Alert: A rich color scheme, a lush background, polished textures, and a luxurious focal point all work together to create one classy and elegant masterpiece!

Birthday Girl Card by Melissa Phillips, p. 109

Moxie Fab Alert: Put together soft layers upon even softer layers, sand the edges, ink to create an aged look, and add a subtle color palette and what do you get? Shabby chic at its finest!

Vintage Wishes Card by Sherry Wright, p. 111

Moxie Fab Alert: The vintage image, the inked flower, the ornate frame, and the extra blingy zip combine to create a vintage card that will only get better with time.

You likey? Let me know which of these cards or which of these styles strikes your fancy the most and why by midnight MDT on Sunday, July 18 and I'll draw 3 random winners to receive a copy of this to-die-for special issue hitting newsstands on Tuesday of next week!

Speaking of next week you won't moxie BELIEVE what I've got in store for you,

~Cath

PS The Finding Inspiration in a Layout challenge is feeling a little lonely, friends. Upload your approaches by Monday, July 17 for a chance to win an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button and an awesome prize! I can't WAIT to see what you come up with!

I love shabby chic, and Melissa always manages to make great creations. I have been practicing the technique and love to experiment and learn new techniques. But when I'm not in the mood for Shabby, I love Fun & Cute. OK, I know they are completely opposite styles, but that's just me!! always at the edges, never in the happy middle ;)

My style is kind of between shabby chic and fun and cute. These cards are all awesome!

I just love Wendy's peacock feather card. It's beautiful.

As always Melissa Phillips' wonderful sense of design shines, even with the use of a very familiar theme ... the cupcake. But I also found the card with the Peacock feather very appealing both for it's elegant use of motif and the addition of the feather gave it an unexpected freshness.

All of the cards are great, but I have to say that I always head in the direction of Melissa and Sherry. Their cards are just so beautiful.

My favorite is the Your Day to Shine Card - love the colors and details on the laterns. I'm just starting out after a really long break - I'd love to see this issue.

I love all these cards! I can't wait to get my hands on this issue! I think my favorite is the Vintage Wishes Card because I used to sew and I love old patterns. I can see another old pattern envelope on a card on the front of the new book! Yay! Might have to go to the garage and see what old patterns I have out there...

While the Vintage cards are my favorites, I love all these cards shown. Sometimes I just don't have time to create the vintage ones, so the classic, elegant ones are what I strive for then. They're all fun to make, though.
