Fun With Fabric Challenge

Fabric is all the rage these days, especially when you combine it with paper crafting. In the PC101 column of the May/June issue of Paper Crafts magazine, Go-to Gal Kim Kesti came up with nine innovative ways to add fabric to paper crafted projects. Check it:
Die-cut an embellishment.
Quilt with batting for extra dimension.
Create a flower by gathering the outer edge of a circle.
Fray edges for instant texture.
Cut out a motif for a vibrant focal point.
Tear a strip and use as ribbon.
Dye with ink for a fun background.
Gather a strip to make a ruffle.
Cover metal buttons for a custom look.

In this fun gift bag, Kim has created both a ruffle and a floral focal point with fabric:
Fowers & Ruffles Gift Bag, p. 30

And in this cutie pie purse card, she's incorporated a quilted fabric front and she's covered a metal button with fabric.

Friends Purse Card, p. 29

With so many out-of-the-basket ideas on how to incorporate fabric on paper crafted projects, I'm sure you're more than inspired to work up an innovative project for this, our next Moxie Fab World challenge. I know, right?

If so, here are the deets:
  • Create a project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates fabric in an innovative way.
  • Upload it to your blog, click on your blog's title, copy the URL, and add it to Mr. Linky below.
  • Tell your readers that you've created your project for the Fun with Fabric Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and link it back to this post to encourage your readers to play along as well.
  • If you don't have a blog, upload your project to this flickr gallery, copy the URL to your project, and add it to Mr. Linky below. Make sure you set the security on your photo so that I can copy it. If I can't copy the image, I won't be able to offer it as a winning entry.
  • Upload your projects by midnight MDT on Monday, June 7.
  • The winning entries will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, June 9 and will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" challenge winner button as well as a moxie fab prize.
Does that about "cover" it? I can't WAIT to see how you "wrap" your talents around this one!

Feeling fabric-tabulous,

~Cath

hmmmmmm - I buy fabric just for the purpose of using it on a card and then I don't so maybe I will have to try something!

Question, Cath - may we enter something that we have done in the past, or does the project always have to be made specifically for your challenge? Thanks for the clarification!

I've been searching for the fabric I used on my card since January, when I was wanting to join another fabric-based challenge. I finally found it in time for this one - hooray!

Hi Lin! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your question, but I just now saw it. It's fine to link up something that you've already created as long as it fits the challenge, I would just ask that you add an ETA with the link to the challenge on your post. Thanks for asking!
