Small and Early by Tudor Jenks
When Dorothy and I took tea, we sat upon the floor;
No matter how much tea I drank, she always gave me more;
Our table was the scarlet box in which her tea-set came;
Our guests, an armless one-eyed doll, a wooden horse gone lame.
She poured out nothing, very fast-—the tea-pot tipped on high,
Morning Meadows Porcelain Teapot from My Fancy PrincessAnd in the bowl found sugar lumps unseen by my dull eye.
Orquidea Tea Set From AnthropologieShe added rich (pretended) cream—-it seemed a willful waste,
For though she overflowed the cup, it did not change the taste.
Fantasia Dishtowel - Butterfly from AnthropologieShe asked, “Take milk?” or “Sugar?” and though I answered, “No,”
Confetti Dinnerware from Pier OneShe put them in, and told me that I “must take it so!”
She ’d say “Another cup, Papa?” and I, “No, thank you, Ma’am,”

Tea Pot Basket from Pottery Barn KidsStill, being neither green, nor black, nor English-breakfast tea,

Honeybee Teapot from Williams SonomaThough often I upset my cup, she only minded when
Duck Egg Eep Tea Towel from skinnylaminx on etsyI would mistake the empty cups for those she ’d filled again.
She tasted my cup gingerly, for fear I ’d burn my tongue;
Ginger Lily Tea Set from Pier OneIndeed, she really hurt my pride—she made me feel so young.
Dot Princess Tea Set from My Fancy PrincessI must have drunk some twoscore cups, and Dorothy sixteen,
One Lump or Two Lamp from AnthropologieAllowing only needful time to pour them, in between.
We stirred with massive pewter spoons, and sipped in courtly ease,

At length she put the cups away. “Goodnight, Papa,” she said;

Wow! I have loved tea for over 20 years, and have admired many a teapot and tea set. These are just gorgeous! The Tulip Charm tea set is my fave, though - classy, bright and fun all at the same time!
I like how diverse all of the different colors and styles are. As a non tea/coffee drinker, I had not ever really paid attention.
It's a good life!

A me mum loved a good cup a tea... she used to read my tea leaves as when I was a lad! Memories...
I really enjoyed today's delightful post! It's like a mini escape from the hectic pace of life. I adore the red and white set with the hearts from My Fancy Princess! Totally cute and fun!!

The Yellow Bird Plate from Pier One immediately caught my eye as I read through your poem so I'd have to pick that as one of my favourites.
The Japanese tea cups near the bottom of your post are fabulous! What an amazing collection you've gathered!
Who knew tea pots could be pretty!?
I really went wild over the Duck Egg Eep Tea Towel from skinnylaminx on etsy. I went straight to the site and plan to make a purchase or two! Thanks for sharing.

HOW I so do see the Dot Princess Tea Set calling me. It has 2 of my fav. things polka dots and pink how can you go wrong?
I just love coming over here and checking out whatever it is you want to show us and oh....so wonderful and inspiring.
It is a real toss up between Confetti Dinnerware from Pier One
and the Botanic Blue. I can see the elegance but simplicity of using the blue on white but I can also picture a fun and playful card using the confetti for inspiration.
As I scrolled down, I spotted several I loved. My favorite is the lamp though.... so unique! I love it! Thanks for all the lovely pics!

The "mudpie perfectly princess" set made me gasp. My daughter would absolutely swoon over all that pretty. Such fun colors and so much inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Well, I loved the butterfly tea towel, but the mudpie princess tea set also really made me smile.
All of these are so cute, but the pink and white polka dot set from My Fancy Princess tickles my fancy!
If I had to pick just one... I'd pick the Floral Fiesta from The Teapot Shoppe. It reminds me of spring. It's bright and cheerful colors make it feel like it's warm outside! Very cute!
Well, is is all very interesting and inspiring too. I like the bright colors of the Party Hat Teapot and took a second look at the pattern on the Duck Egg Eup Tea Towel. What FUN!
I love the colors on the Party Hat Teapot and the Confetti Dinnerware is so fun! I must have the Fantasia dishtowel with that amazing butterfly! What an awesome five for friday! Made me think of the new Alice in Wonderland movie (I haven't seen it, but I'm wondering if there is a crazy tea party in the movie!) Have a wonderful weekend!
I love all things tea related! And the towel from Anthropologie is awesome :)
The Dot Princess set just screams "Tea Party" with me and my little girls. We love having tea parties.
Hugs
Tanya
The butterfly tea set inspires me the most. I love all things butterfly!!
I just picked up three butterfly plates the other day while shopping with my bud. Now I think I need a teapot too. LOL.
All are special, but I can imagine holding the Princess Mina cups...the textures of those raised circles, those colours look like melons and sorbet, the irregular organic shape of the cup...aaawww. Thanks for showing us these yummies.
Love the Botanic Blue tea set. You can't ever go wrong with blue and white.
Just so pretty! I love the Japanese Tea Cup from Dou Tea, reminds me of my years in Japan.
Absolutely love the Mudpie Perfect Princess Tea Set. I think I gotta find me one.
Thanks for the great inspiration today.

The Morning Meadows Teapot definately makes me think of spring and summer, with the beautiful butterflies and dragonflies.

The Japanese tea cup, earthy color, similar to the paint color of my craft room. And then the pop of that little white blossom!

I love the Party Hat Teapot and the Confetti dish set because they are so fun and bright and I'm ready for some sunshine!!
I love the lime green teapot and cups. It's just so cheery.
Oh Cath, I should be doing work but I had to stop by when I saw the tea sets. It's so difficult to choose
but my favorite Karly's Butterflies Tea Pot Set from The Teapot Shoppe. That beautiful porcelain aligned with gorgeous butterflies bring spring to mind and a smile to my face. It's easy to see the moth wiggling out of the cocoon, wings spread as he turns into a beautiful butterfly. *sigh* Now I'm ready to create my mini album! Thanks! ;D I needed that!
Loved everything about this "cozy" post!!! Thanks for the smile this morning!
My Mom is a tea lover...both for the tea itself and for the accoutrement...as in tea cup, tea pot, tea towel, etc.! Thanks for all that inspires here......specifically, the black and pink polka (perfectly princess??) and that lamp! :>
I was hoping to see one a little more retro/vintage to suit my style - I really need a teapot, actually! But I love the pretty pretty of the blue botanical set. My girls are home sick with colds and you've inspired me not to scrap but to have a tea party with my little ladies today.
Love that flatware towel from Anthropologie. . . might need to be the new curtains for my kitchen window!
I love the little poem about tea with Papa. How darling. I also love Karly's Butterflies Tea Pot Set the best, but it was hard to decide.
Can't get enough of teapots since "Alice". Especially love the girly ones from My Fancy Princess. Adorable lamp from Anthropologie too! xxD
oh my gosh! LOVE the lamp and the oink and black dotted set......thanks for sharing :)
that lamp is TOO MUCH! i love it!! :D happy Friday :)
It would have to be the tea pot and cup lamp. Made me do a double take. who would not love to have that?!
Hi Cathe -
I love all these images, but I would have to say I am partial to the teapots. Why? When I was a little girl my Mom would prepare a pot of tea for my Dad before he left for work in the morning. The teapot we had was very old and resembled a thatch-roofed cottage. My Dad would always leave enough tea in the pot for one last cup of tea. He knew that my younger sister and I would share the cup and think we were big girls because we drank tea just like Daddy!
Elaine Allen
I liked the Confetti Dinnerware. I could see turning those colorful dots into a fun, bright birthday card!
love the teapots!i have a collection of small teapots for a doll set. :)
OMG..what a feast for the eyes! As I scroll up and down my eye is drawn to the bright color and clean lines of the Milkmaid Butter Dish from Anthropologie. Thanks!

I collect tea pots! While my taste is more towards hand thrown pottery, that Orquidia set from Anthropologie has me wanting to set a pretty table for it! :)
~jan
The Ginger Lily set was my favorite. It's like a beautiful little sculpture for the table! Love it!
The Fantasia dish towel is fantastic!
One Lump or Two Lamp from Anthropologie was sooo cool! If it was turqoise, it would be perfect :D
Have a nice weekend!
Oh my goodness! I LOVE the pokadot dishes from Pier 1!!!!! Also, that lamp is too cute! There is nothing like a cup of tea to take all the worries away!
The pictures are absolutely beautiful - I love teapots and have a small collection. The beehive one reminds me very much of a pot that my grandmother had. She used to make me hot sweet tea each day after arriving home from school on a cold winter day, and serve it in a demi-tasse cup. "A little cup for a little girl", she always used to say when serving it to me. Thanks for bringing me the memory!
Sharon
Doesn't tea just make you feel cozy? I am most inspired by the deliciousness tea towel. Thanks for the fun.
Love all of them! But I would have to say the One Lump or Two Lamp. Why - it's just so whimsical!
I am going to forward this post to my mom...she will LOVE it! My favorites are the two pink sets...the pink/black combo, and the pink dotted set. Mostly..because I love pink! Tee hee!
~Lea
I really love the One Lump or Two Lamp. It reminds me of a candelabra I saw somewhere that was made of stacks of teacups, saucers, a teapot and sugar and creamer. I loved this post. Lovely images! Anne, yourmainestamper

So many lovely items and so difficult to choose a favorite...but if I must, I choose the Fantasia Dishtowel - Butterfly from Anthropologie.

Oh my how I love tea time! That Yellow Plate with the bird is so happy feeling. I just must create something with that inspiration! I think I'll go make a nice cuppa!
Definitely Mudpie as I want to make some flowers resembling them!
I'm torn between two! I love the Princess Mina Tea Cups and Saucers from designboom. They are so delicate looking (just like a teacup should be), but the colors are fabulous. My second love would have to be the Orquidea Tea Set from Anthropologie. For some reason, I am drawn to white china/place settings. This set is stunning with the intricate floral detail. Thanks for sharing.
Ooh, there's a lot of card inspiration potential in these images! I especially love Floral Fiesta and Carly's Butterflies. Such sweet and feminine designs.
The Ginger Lily Tea Set! It reminds me of little woodland wonderland!
Thanks!
Alas, as the mother of two boys and zero daughters, I have yet to have a tea party with either of my children. I'll pink the pink polka dot set with ribbons because it's such a girly set. If I let my boys pick a tea set they'd try to find one with Transformers on it. :)
Oh I love the beehive teapot. So sweet. I'm going to go start my kettle. What a cute poem too. :)
Love the Orquidea teapot set!I've really been wanting to try out the color on color for my next layout and this gave me grat inspiration! Thanks!

What a fabulous Five for Friday!! Ok so I had never heard of Anthropologie until I started visiting your site but I think I will have to pay them a visit. I think I have to have that lamp!
the tea towels are terrific! i love the idea of hot tea, i think it is good for me, but i don't enjoy drinking it, unless i am sick. i have to have a lot of honey in it. i would rather drink iced tea, very sweet, my dh says it is like syrup. and i don't think that is good for me, but i love it.
Love the butterflies. They remind me of Spring and boy am I ready for Spring!
What a wonderful array of goodies :D As an inspiration piece, I would have to go with the Confetti set - so many fun colours to work with and I love polka dots. Close second would the mudpie set because I love pink and black together on a card.
Love it! Love the poem and the tea inspired theme. My favorite is definitely Meadow Morning. Must be because I am thinking spring. Thanks for the smiles :)
oh, this was such a sweet read! thank you, Cath!
the Dou Tea is my favourite - while i am a big tea-drinker and love the vintage teapots and cups and saucers, my husband is a high school art teacher, and he is making a beautiful japanese tea set with his pottery students. i can't wait to display it proudly! (and maybe, someday, serve tea to company in it!)
I love the fantasia dishtowel...that would make me smile every time I used it.
How fantastic are these! I adore the lamp... so whimsical... kinda like Alice in Wonderland. And the Butter dish is delish.
Floral Fiesta from the Teapot Shoppe made me think of lovely thoughts and smile. I loved tea parties with my daughter when she was young. Now as a teenager she doesn't ask me to have tea parties. So I invite young girls and their grandmothers from church to our house and we have tea parties while my daughter plays the piano for them. Lovely thoughts to be sure!
Waht a sweet little poem! I love the "One lump or two" lamp...it reminds me of something you'd expect the Mad Hatter to have on his side table ;) Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for the fun!

Cath! My daugher and I play tea party every day, she makes 'strawberry-poptart tea'. Where she came up with that name I'll neve know, I've never had a pop-tart in our house! All of the sets are adorable, she would kill for them. I also loved the cute poem.
I love the Milkmaid Butter Dish. She is so serene, reigning over her luscious contents. And the One Lump or Two lamp is just a hoot!

What a cute poem. I just drool when I saw Orquidea Tea Set From Anthropologie. I love it because it looks embossed or like the design is made of fondant. It's both beautiful and delicious.
So many wonderful candies for the eye from the beautiful lamp, the butterfly tea set and the dot princess tea set. However, I fell in love with the simple but very taseful yellow bird plate from Pier One. It just captures how I want to feel in the spring.
I love the butterfly tea set! Lovely.
The dish towels are so vintage!
Thanks for the tea-licious inspiration!
i love the towel from anthropologie :D

These are all so cute, cute, cute! but I really like the fun balancing lamp!
The Confetti Dinnerware (Pier One) was definitely inspiration for me - so much so that I am heading to my craft room to make a lively, polka dot card!
I love that little tea towel that is last. So delicate and beautiful and understated at the same time. LOVE IT!
I love the Old Dutch tea pot set. I am a huge herbal tea drinker and I love having "tea time". For me, I love visually having both the teapot and the cups and this particular set is a LOVELY shade of bright green. I have a stamp that I keep look at, but haven't used....maybe I need to go into my crafting room and play.
The tea pot, cup and saucer lamp is a must have for my Mom - she is a collector of all things tea pot! Thanks for a chance to win!
What a fantastic post (oh, they always are!). I love the dainty little teacups, but there's nothing more cozy than wrapping your hands around a handle-less, earthy, Japanese tea cup.

OH, the tulip tea pots, so pretty. Cute little story. And memories of tea with Grandma Stevens, at her farmhouse in Kent, WA Tea in the little Brown Betty teapot, tea in a real tea ball. Gingersnap cookies from the box with the little boy in a sailor suit on it. Long time ago, but still fresh in my mind.
