I'm pretty stoked today because I've got a special post for you in Day 4 of our week-long Stamp It! Cards celebration, one that features someone I really admire.
If you haven't already had the pleasure, I'd love to introduce you to Jennifer McGuire. I first became familiar with Jennifer by reading her Tools & Techniques column in Creating Keepsakes magazine. I always admired the myriad of ideas she so creatively presented and felt a kind of kinship to her (without her even knowing it) as I worked both on Paper Crafts' PC101 column (in which we show different ways to use products and techniques) and on the Tips, Tools, & Techniques column (which I no longer work on but did for a couple of years back in the day.) Then, as she became more and more prevalent in the Hero Arts world, I became a big fan of her approach to stamping and the unique way she explores its varied and vast volume of techniques.
I mean seriously, if there's anything that defines Jennifer McGuire in our industry, it's tools and techniques. I know, right?
Let's take a minute to get to know her better, shall we?
Jennifer, a 2002 Creating Keepsakes Hall of Famer, has been scrapbooking and stamping since about 2002. Her designs and page layouts have been used in countless publications, including magazines and books. An avid stamper, Jennifer has been an artist for Hero Arts for the past 7 years and has loved every minute of it. She remembers that fall day when she received a call from Jackie, the founder of Hero Arts, asking her to create scrapbook pages using their stamps. Before she knew it , she became involved in stamp design and started contributing samples for the Hero Arts catalogs, website, and blog. As Education Director, she most loves doing videos online and traveling the world teaching stamping classes.
Jennifer's work can be also seen each month in the aforementioned article she writes for Creating Keepsakes magazine, Tools & Techniques, where she shows the many things you can do with one tool or product. A Creating Keepsakes book based on these articles, 101 Things To Do With Your Scrapbook Supplies, was released in June 2007.
She also enjoys contributing to the Two Peas in a Bucket design team and her blog, www.jennifermcguireink.com, where you can find many of her popular video tutorials. Jennifer, who left a job as an engineer to scrapbook full time from her home in Cincinnati, also enjoys traveling around the world teaching stamping classes. Her family includes her husband Ken, step- daughters Kay and Audrey, and son, Colin.
Jennifer, thanks for joining us. Let's begin by asking you what websites, blogs, magazines, ads, etc. are the most inspirational to you in terms of trend-watching? Why do they motivate you?
I find a ton of inspiration on etsy.com. I think it is absolutely amazing that it is home to lots of creative people and that you can find handmade gifts for any occasion. Lately, I have been collecting fun, inspirational and silly prints for my kids’ bathroom. While doing this, I find lots of inspiration for card making and scrapbooking. Here are some that recently caught my eye. The message would be great for a card or page:
This one is fabulous. I am thinking I could do a card just like this. So clever:
Oh, and etsy is great for color inspiration, too. Adore this:
Do the evolving trends change your paper crafting style, or do you inject the trends into your already established style?
I am not really sure I have an established style – ha! I feel like I have an “open style” where anything goes. I like to jump from simple and clean to over-the-top and distress-y. That is half the fun of the craft. Also, by not feeling “stuck” in a style, I don’t feel pressured to get certain results, but rather can accept whatever I come up with.
Another big advantage of an open style is that you can easily try out new trends, but don’t feel you have to. Anything goes! Here is an example. Digital scrapbooking is very popular and I love the trend of it crossing over into card making more and more. So, I decided to play along and created this card for the Hero Arts blog. Such fun!
Name a designer (or two) in the scrapbooking industry that inspires you. What do you like about his/her work?
Now don’t tell him I said this, because it will simply go to his head (hee), but my friend Tim Holtz inspires me.
Yes, he is very talented, but what inspires me most is his integrity, loyalty, kindness and generosity. In an industry where people jump quickly from companies to companies, I admire that he has stayed put with Ranger and remained dedicated to them. I also admire that he loves to share and give so much back to the industry. These are things that are all important to me and, therefore, I find him inspiring.
What is your favorite part about your job and why? What is your least favorite part about your job and why?
My favorite part of my job is definitely the friends I have made. It is just a great feeling to have friends all over the world – all who I met through this great industry. One good example is my dear friend Shari Carroll. Although we are in such different stages in our life, we are like two peas in a pod. She has worked with Hero Arts for 21 years and is unbelievably talented. Here are two pages I did for Creating Keepsakes about Shari and the Hero Arts team:

My least favorite part about my job is that working from home can be very challenging. You never get to escape your household responsibilities, nor can you escape the work of your job. It is really tough to get a good balance, but it is worth the try!
Without giving anything away that you are working on, what trend(s) are you currently watching?
One of my favorite trends right now is the bold coloring of Copic Markers. And although this is a trend that is just starting, I know I will be using them for a long time! The results are so impressive and the coloring is such fun. I love to stamp a bunch of images, put in a good movie, and color all night long!
Thankfully, many of the new Hero Arts stamps work great with Copic coloring. Makes my job even better!
Once you spot a trend, do you have a way of filing that idea away for later use that works for you?
I have a folder on my desktop that is titled “ideas.” If I am searching the web and see a trend or idea I like, I just drag the image into this folder. Once a month, I drag each of these photos into a Word document, make them small (thumbnail-size) and print the document to put into my idea binder. This works great for me!
Which retail stores tend to get your trendy juices flowing?
There is one retail website that inspires me big time: bodenusa.com. All of their lines have such fabulous color combinations. If you haven’t done so, I recommend signing up to receive their catalog. I just love this dress and can get many card ideas from it:
What is your favorite medium in which to work and why does it appeal to you? Has that changed over time? Why or why not?
This isn’t exactly a medium, but one thing that has really changed for me in the past few years is my switch from only doing scrapbook pages to now also doing card making. I just find the two go hand-in-hand so much and inspire each other greatly. Doing card making has really made scrapbooking easier for me, as I can try out techniques and color schemes on cards first. I am so glad I started card making!
What advice can you give to paper crafters who are interested in incorporating more trends into their projects?
Keep it simple! Really, the best way to try a new technique or trend is to just try it in a simple manner. That way if you don’t get it right the first time, you have little invested. And if it goes well, you will have the confidence to do more.
Name some doors that have opened to you as a result of being connected to the scrapbooking industry and what that has meant to you.
I really appreciate all the support I get for the Cards for Kids card drive I am doing. I have collected thousands of cards for sick children – thanks to the amazing people in the industry that I have met through my blog. I just love that it has opened doors to help others.
Thanks for spending some time with us here in the Moxie Fab World today, Jennifer!Wasn't that inspiring, friends? Oh my moxie fab I sure think so. I just love that Jennifer turns to etsy for inspiration as much as I do, I like that she's constantly stretching herself and trying something new (a la digital/hybrid projects), and I love that she's a scrapbooker who has discovered that card making and scrapbooking go completely hand-in-hand. I think the same thing. They are different in their purposes, but similar in their craft.
Of all the yummy things that Jennifer said, what was most inspiring to you? Leave me a comment that tells us all what's ringing the truest to you by midnight MST on Sunday, February 28 and I'll draw one random winner to receive these three stamp sets, which happen to be Jennifer's current moxie favies:

Friends, we've got just one more day left in Stamp It! Cards Week. And while I know that's a little on the Saddy McSadderton side, the Olympics of Stamping continues through March 8 AND I've got an absolutely u-n-b-e-l-i-e-v-a-b-l-e post for you tomorrow in which you will have the chance to win 32 hot-off-the-press stamp sets.
Yep. You read that right. Tomorrow's magic number is 32.
Getting ready for the Big Finish,
~Cath
PS There's lots o' stampy fun going on at Paper Crafts Connection today. See how our six moxie fab Go-to Gals have each used 2 different stamp sets. It's an online version of one of your favorite features in Stamp It! Cards: Stamp It! Three Ways!

Love Jennifer McGuire and the work she does for the sick kids! Can't get better than someone so talented, giving back to the community :)
I love Jennifer's values, like staying loyal to a company and giving to the community. I love the integrity she cherishes which can only lead to success!
Love this interview! Her talent is so amazing. Her Thinking Inking class blew my mind! Love the Etsy inspirations too!
I am inspired by the reasons Jennifer gave for being inspired by Tim Holtz. integrity, loyalty, kindness and generosity are major assets and inspiring attributes wherever you find them, especially in a world like the one we live in. What a great interview!
Thank you Cathy for this. I admire Jennifer and her work is amazing.
She colors watching movies?????????? I can color.
But I love her anyway.
First of all, Jennifer comes across as a genuine nice girl. I have her blog among my favorites and I love her video's. Her Thinking Inking classes on Two Peas last year had me glued to the computer. I like the fact that she says that she has an open style and accepts what she comes up with.
Eveline.
Jennifer is just about the cutest thing! I love the ideas of drawing inspiration from Etsy.com What a no brainer idea! I never thought to go there for inspiration....of course I'm a no brainer, duh!
What a fun interview! I've never visited the Boden website before - always fun to find a new place for inspiration!
This was a great interview! I found it heart-warming that Jennifer admires Tim the man Holtz, not only for his artistic skills, but for all the reasons that make him so endearing to all of us. I really love that she saves ideas in a binder in thumbnails! What a brilliant idea!!!!
I love Jennifer McGuire's style! And I think her idea of saving a bunch of inspirational images and then printing them all at once is super-smart! I think I'll try that one soon with all the ideas cluttering up my desktop!!
I love Jennifer! She herself is so very inspiring to me. I think it rings true with me about the friends you make in this industry. I have never seen such a caring, helping and want to be there for you community as the stamping one!
I'm a huge fan of Jennifer's and I just love what she's doing with her Cards for Kids drive!
Cards for Kids!!
All the inspiration photos and artwork posted is amazing!
I love Jennifer's use of Etsy and other website for inspiration on colors and trends.
I enjoyed your interview with Jennifer and getting to know her a little better. I love the fact that she values integrity, loyalty, generosity and kindness above all in people and I admire the work she does with the "Cards for Kids" program. I really liked her idea binder and may implement something similar to keep those thousands of inpiring ideas close at hand when I need them. Thanks for the chance to win these great stamps from Hero Arts - I'm a BIG fan.
I enjoyed getting to read about what Jennifer turns to for inspiration. Great interview!!
I go to Jennifer's blog everyday...she is really talented and such a nice person too. I thnk she inspires so many. I do agree with finding inspiration at Etsy...I love going and looking around over there....
Hero Arts has really come out with some wonderful stamps. And your techniques are so clear and easy to follow. Thanks.
Love the Keep It Simple philosophy!
Oh my gosh! First I must say I have found Jennifer's blog about a year ago and I really like her a ton. My favorite addition to her blog and what she talked about in her interview was the cards for kids. It is a great way to get involved and use some of these hoardes of products for good LOL!
On a side note, I have always loved your magazines, but they are hard for me to find. I live in a little town of 4,500 people. As I went into our pharmacy yesterday the Stamp It magazine was there. It was the only one and needless to say I snatched it up pronto LOL!
It's a good life!
Terri E.
I love Jennifer's work. And what she does for sick children is amazing!!
Keeping it simple! That my inspiration. Jennifer is such an inspiration to me (I suppose to a lot of us).
What a fantabulous interview! Love the butterflies .. And appreciate the take on coloring with Copics for sure! Great to know more about "the" Jennifer!
Thanks big time!
~Bev
Jennifer McQuire is quite like the person she respects in the industry, T!m! Jennifer shares her talents generously, is enthused about creating, is a great teacher, is a trend setter, AND fabulous person, giving her heart to the industry and to the kids!
What an absolutely wonderful idea with her "IDEA FOLDER" Inspiring ways to find new ideas I'm going to try it out!
What a gret interview. I really love everything about Jennifer. She is very creative and talented and shares her ideas with others. I love that she uses Etsy Shops for inspirations. I just love the tip about how she keeps her ideas in a folder. :)
I like the idea of loyalty and always keeping an open style to take advantage of any inspiration that moves you ... thanks for sharing the interview.
So much fun to read about Jennifer and what inspires her! She's an inspiration herself. Thanks so much!
Loved getting to know Jennifer! I have enjoyed seeing her creations in Creating Keepsakes and look forward to her articles. Love these stamps from Hero Arts..thanks for the chance :o)
Jens Cards for Kids inspires me. Shes such a generous woman and i am so happy that i found her blog and frequently stop and see what shes up to!
I also love that her step daughter is so involved and loves to make cards and videos!
I have been an avid follower of Jennifer's over the years. The inspiring part of the interview was when she was talking about her "open" style. I have tried for a long time to decide what my style is and now I know what it is!
TFS!
I like where she talked about new trends and reminded us the importance of trying it but still keeping your project simple while using the new technique. Make sense to me. Thanks for the reminder
Jennifer does some amazing work. I was touched to read about the Cards for Kids. What a great opportunity to touch lives.
I check Jennifer's blog every day. I love that she does the Cards for Kids. This was a great interview with her. I really really like her style! Anne, yourmainestamper
I was inspired by her yesterday so I bought the digi stamps from two peas. I am not even into digi stamps! The ease of use and simplicity of the video on Youtube made me, should I say, enabled me to do it! I would love to see the Thinking Inking class. Anyone know if it's still available? I am truly inspired by her blog, her scraproom her style, HER in general!! I love trying new things, too, but to keep it simple is the best advice ever. Thanks for the opportunity to get to know Jen a little better!
OK seriously, why didn't I ever think of creating a folder on my desktop and "dragging" my inspiration into it??? I have been doing a print screen, pasting in Photoshop, cropping and then saving the image. (My computer is wonky and won't let me do a Save As) Talk about time consuming! So, thanks for the idea Jennifer! Oh and I think Tim is very inspiring too!!
I admire the time Jennifer put into the Cards for Kids. It's nice to see someone so popular in the stamping/scrapping world giving back and including anyone that wants to participate.
Loved getting to know Jennifer McGuire through this interview!
She's so creative. I love her idea of going to different places like etsy to get inspiration. Also think it's a neat thing to keep a folder on the desktop to drop all those ideas into.
Thanks!

Jennifer is amazing in everything she does! She is truly an inspiration, as an artist, Mom and woman!!
Jennifer is so talented and inspiring. I love the way she can get inspiration from a dress in a catalogue. How cool is that! What a fun interview!
The idea of browsing other items than just other people's cards for inspiration struck me. I would've never thought of pulling ideas from a dress! I like her organizational tip as well.
Jennifer is just a fabulous designer. Love her projects and her videos... and what she is doing with the card drives. It feel good to give. :o)
Great Interview! I especially liked her ideas for filing away the inspirational ideas she finds.
Oh how I love Jennifer! I love her simplicity in stamping and sweet, giving nature. Love you , Jennifer!!
I love Jennifer!!! She is so heart warming and kind and is a great inspiration to many. What rings true to me is that she is totally right about the friends you meet in this industry. I have met so many wonderful people and consider them all my friends and love all their uplifting comments everyday.
It was nice to hear that she doesn't have a specific "style". I feel that way about myself too so it's very nice to hear that it's okay! :o)
What a great interview with a truly gifted and caring woman. I especially liked her Thinking Inking videos and learned so much from them. I like her idea of starting simple with a new technique. Makes sense!
I visit Jennifer's blog regularly. She makes everything look so fun and easy. I've already tried some of her techniques. I can't stop eyeing her Copic-colored butterflies. I hope those are in my future.
Thanks for the interesting article and a chance to win those nice stamps! I love Jennifer McGuire! I enjoyed her advice on adding new techniques: "Keep it simple! ...That way if you don’t get it right the first time, you have little invested. And if it goes well, you will have the confidence to do more."
HMMMM...HER ADVICE ON TRYING A NEW TECHNIQUE WAS GREAT...KEEP IT SIMPLE...BWHAHAHAH....
Love this interview and love Jennifer's approach to stamping. Her videos are so inspiring to try new and different techniques. Love her 'open style' of creating and her Cards for Kids program is an awesome tribute to her beautiful generosity and kind spirit!
Jennifer's work is just beautiful and what she has done with the Cards For Kids is just amazing!!!
The fact that she gives back to kids even though I am sure she has a very busy life. I also like her open style.
Great interview! I love Jennifer's use of Etsy and other website for inspiration on colors and trends and am always hitting road blocks for inspiration, this will be a big help. Thanks for the inspiration.
I've admired Jen's work for quite some time. LOve the butterflies!
I follow Jennifer---and WOW it was great to get to know her even more! I love her style--and everything she creates:) Thanks for the chance to win!
I've been a fan of Jennifer M. for quite a number of years and have a special notebook set up with her idea pages. I love the thumbnail idea on the desktop ....inspirations are everywhere and sometimes it's just a matter of organzing them for future use.
Loved reading more about Jennifer, she is just the cutest!!! So approachable and easy to connect with!!
Jennifer is my first, gigantic inspiration to even get into crafting. I watched countless amount of videos made by her way before I invested into any kind of crafting tool. I love her card drives. I love her idea of keeping things simple!
I, too, have been following Jennifer's blog for a while and she is always inspirational. Love how she looks at the things around her (Etsy, shopping sites) for card/layout ideas!!
Love the interview! What inspires me most about Jennifer is her big heart! She cares so deeply about others who are suffering. She has wonderful values that she seems to live by everyday. And don't forget how much she inspires all of us creatively too! :)
Love this interview! I love Jennifer and visit her blog daily! She is a very inspiring person and I love her creativity and love that she is so willing to share it with everyone!
Jennifer says to me "keep it simple". I follow Jennifer and she is an inspiration because of her talent and generosity...
Thank you for highlighting this wonderful talented lady....
Jennifer, the name that inspires me to do things for others to, Cards for Kid's Drive... Her passion for crafts I think is the same with her passion for helping children to find new "friends" out there.. Thanks for your article and interview about Jennifer, Cath...
Wow.... Jennifer's great :)
I like how she puts the ideas she finds in a folder and then pulls it out. It's so organized! That's something I will surely want to do! :)
Wow what a great interview.
I just love Jennifer McGuire and have been following her in CK and her blog for a long time now. I love that she is inspired by Etsy because that is where I go to find inspiration. Cards for Kids? As the parent of a child that I almost lost, this is so amazing!
What a great surprise guest! I love that she uses Etsy and was able to quit her engineering job for a fun job in the hero arts world. How cool is that! I definitely consider myself a fan!
Wonderful interview. Jennifer is so genuine!
Everything about Jennifer is inspiring. I love her scrapbook pages since the early beginning of CK magazine. Her generosity in sharing her ideas and knowledge, giving back to the community are simply amazing.
Oh yes, lots of inspiration at Etsy!
LOVE Jennifer's work!
I love Jennifer and have followed her blog from the beginning. Great interview!
Hi Cath -
I love that Jennifer is generous with herself. She posts video and written tutorials. Always willing to share her knowledge. She is just so sweet. I really love her butterflies and I really like the way she keeps track of trends that catch her eye. This may be something that I will consider doing. Sometimes I see something and think I'll get back to it later and seldom do. This gives me a chance to track those things. Wonderful idea!
Elaine Allen
Oh boy! What a great Ask Around! There were so many inspiring things about creating and giving, but what stuck out to me was that she left her job as an engineer to pursue her papercrafting! I am an engineer and that made me feel connected in some small way. Very cool!
Terrific interview...so real and genuine, for lack of better words. I'm especially impressed by her respect for fellow crafting genius Tim Holtz.
I love the idea of using bodenusa.com as inspiration! I could totally see what she meant about using the dress for color and design! Great tip!!
I like Jennifer! She is an inspiration!
I love everything Jennifer does. I appreciate the tip about the idea folder on the computer translated to paper each month. I can't tell you how many times I see something on the internet, think I will remember it and when I need it, I don't remember. Fabulous tip.
Leaving her engineering job for papercrafting? That is bold and amazingly inspiring
Thanks for the interview with Jennifer. Been a fan of hers a long time. She has inspired countless cards for me. :) Stamp It! week has been such fun.
What a nice interview. I can relate to the "work from home" thing. But now that I do both - I would choose the home well over the other and hope to do that again soon. :). I have found a new use for my Boden catalog thanks to this post - and gosh - I'm going to HAVE to dive into the Copic world soon! I love coloring. :)
Thanks for the interview with Jennifer. Been a fan of hers a long time. She has inspired countless cards for me. :) Stamp It! week has been such fun.
I just love this interview with Jennifer! Her ideas are so innovative and I just love watching her tutorials. I watch videos on her blog to learn new techniques all the time. Thank you for the interview and for sharing such cute projects. :)
I love that her favorite part of the job is the friends she's made. She's my type of woman! Oh thank you for this interview and for the chance to win some Moxie Fab stamps!
Jennifer has a big heart and she shares that in her work and her life. That is how she inspires me. She often says 'it doesn't have to be fancy or perfect - just send it' and people will appreciate your gift. To bring happiness and joy to others through goodies that we make, is how she get's me going!
I definitely identify with her color inspirations. Good color can literally stop me in my tracks. Love the interview and the week of "special" events. It's been great!
thank you for this nice interview and article. How interesting it was!
Very sweet how she described her friend Tim Holtz :) GORGEOUS butterfly projects, too!
I absolutely adore Jennifer! Her tutorials are the best and her tips make crafting so much more fun and easy :) Did I mention she rocks? SHE ROCKS! She can create ANYTHING!
I am a big Jennifer fan too. She inspires me daily to just use anything and not to be afraid to make a card of it. LOve her butterfly cand flower cards the best! Thanks for featuring her, loved it!

What a great interview.. She´s so cool. It was so great to hear how she loves giving back to others (cards for kids drive).

I think one of the things that rings true with me, is that you can find inspiration in so many forms and fashions, you just have to open your eyes.
I have been following Jennifer's blog and the Hero arts stuff for a long time. She holds regular workshops at my LSS and I really find her very inspiring. Thanks for letting us get to know her a little better.
What an amazing woman! Not only is she talented and lovely, but kind and generous with her time and ideas. I hope that my simple paper crafting journey may touch and inspire people as she has
I like how she makes an idea binder and that she considers her style an open style--me too!
God I love Jennifer! So amazed at how fast she rolled into 'professional' paper crafting. Just goes to show real talent is recognised fast!
Everything about Jennifer is inspiring but especially her love for people and great heart for those in need! Great interview!

i wanna squish her up in a great big hug!
Love Jennifer McGuire - she is always sharing such beautiful work on her blog. Especially love her videos. You can tell how much she loves her work and esp Hero Arts. Hero Arts is such a great company - they should do a case study on it ! :)
I love Jennifer--her cards for kids drive is so inspiring. I always want to use my gifts to serve God and be a blessing to others--Jennifer does this! I have had the honor of meeting Jennifer (I got to take 2 of her classes!) and she is even more amazing in person! She is generous and takes time to listen.
I've been reading Jennifer's blog for some time and am a BIG fan of hers!! I really like her idea of making an Idea folder on the computer and printing it out once a month and putting it in a binder. Beats my current plan of printing things and sitting them on the table and then losing them - - -
I've been an avid fan of Jennifer's for many years! She is truly inspiring!
Jennifer is an amazing talented artist with a BIG heart and she is definitely one of a kind! I 've been admiring her work since I started Hero Arts flickr...and have never left since. Awesome interview!

Thank you Cath! for such a great interview
Jennifer's system to catalog trends she likes is something I can follow - thanks for sharing!
Jennifer McGuire is one of my must visit sites!!! I just love everything she does. I love that she has a trends folder. I do something similar, just never thought to print them out! Awesome!
lisa a.
As does so many others. I find Jennifer herself an inspiration. Her spirit and energy draw you in. I read her blog regularly for inspiration, but for today, I love the "keeping it simple" advice she has. I tend to make things more complicated than they need to be, I then get frustrated and give up. So for today I will remember to "keep it simple". Thanks Jennifer ;)
I start out my day everyday checking out Moxie Fab World. I love the ideas and the great interviews like this one with Jennifer. Thanks for the fun in my morning before I hit the sewing machine and make brides look beautiful. ( I am an alteration specialist)
Donna
Jennifer's whole attitude towards crafting and the bonds she makes with others around her is very inspiring.

I loved the interview with Jennifer. Her work is amazing. Thank you for interviewing her for us.
Hi...I love Jennifer too! Easy question for me...her work for the kids is inspirational for sure..I have read every single post she has made for months now...what shines through? She is totally the most self-less human being! She gives gives gives...yet finds that balance she refers to...I think if you asked other big shots in the scrap n stamp world...they too would tell you this about Jennifer. She is all of the qualities she emulates in Tim..and more. Family first, job next..She just has it all together and it is very obvious to me. So when she needs a couple days away Dont bug her lol...she really does need them! xox just my 2 cents, Cher

I discovered Jennifer's blog myself recently because of her Cards for Kids program, and I am now a subscriber... SO inspiring! Thanks!
I liked Jennifer's answer regarding trends. I am drawn to certain trends but don't feel the overwhelming need to incorporate them into whatever I'm working on. I can relate to Jennifer's open approach.
I love her advice to keep it simple when incorporating trends. There are so many fun new things going on in the stamp world, it is sometimes hard to focus on one and do it well. Thanks for sharing!
I've been following Jennifer McGuire's art for a while now, and enjoy her involvement in causes. What rings true especially for me and my inspiration, is that I like to soak up everything and not be constrained to a particular style. There is so much to experience with stamping! Great to see Jennifer highlighted! Thanks!
HUGE fan of Jennifer's here!!! LOVE her commitment to giving back! ALso love her idea book based on inspiration from cataloges :)
I love what Jennifer said about not getting "stuck" in a style. Do whatever you feel!
This may sound odd...the fact that sticks out to me is that she left an engineering career {I'm sure good money} and now has a dream job at home. I really wish I could work from home with my kids.
I really appreciate that Jennifer uses her "fame" in the crafts industry to give back. As a mother to a medically fragile child, I know how much even the smallest gestures mean.
Thanks again Jennifer! Great interview.
Thanks so much for the interview with Jennifer McGuire, Cathy...her work is great...what inspired me the most was that both of you use etsy for inspiration, something I never thought to do but will be doing lots of in the future...thanks for the chance to win!!!
Being an engineer turned stay-at-home mom, I love to see another engineering type with a crafty side! Makes my dream of somehow, someway making this passion into something than just a hobby a very slight possibility...well I can dream!
like that Jennifer says she has an openh style and tries many things rather than getting "stuck" in one trend. I see so many projects that look alike. I like the freshness of this concept. Over the weekend, another stamper told me she doesn't look at galleries for this very reason. She wants to keep it fresh.
It is fun to see how people are working at their dream jobs...truely it would be a dream job for me to be in the crafting business! So inspiring! Her butterflies are absolutely beautiful!
I loved this post today for many reasons! Jennifer is not only inspiring on a creative level but as a person and human being as well! I received a small hero arts stamp set in the mail one day from her. Just a random act of kindness! A TRUE RAK!!!! I had NO IDEA it was coming and it truly made me smile! THAT was inspiring! Thanks again Jennifer! For your kindness AND creativity! Keep up the great work!
Oh, I was so excited to read your blog today. I just love Jennifer. I've been following her blog for a while and have participated in her Cards For Kids drive with my kids. She is a great inspiration and soooo talented. Her generocity inspires me everyday.
I'm a BIG fan of Jennifer's. She is such a sweetheart and I love that she does the Cards for Kids drive! I also love her videos. Great interview!
I was nodding when Jennifer talked about how scrapbooking led to more card making. It's the opposite for me, card making creating an interest in scrap booking, but I understand her point about being open to the other avenues your crafting might take you.
I love Jennifer I follow her and can't help but be inspired by all that talent! Thank you so much for sharing it w/us all.
I love how Jennifer slips back and forth from scrapbooking to cardmaking!
I like that she said she doesn't have just one style- that she tries many styles & trends. It's nice to know that talented, famous crafters don't fit in just one box either
I like what she said about having an open style, you can try things you like, and skip the things you don't.
the new hero arts clings and the butterfly stamps are my current favorites. started cardmaking a couple of years ago. the PaperCrafts publications were the first that i felt fit my interests. a few months ago i discovered Jennifer's blog. really like her style and renewed my interest in hero arts.
I love Jennifer's idea file system and I'm totally goping to copy it! (Can't believe she's only been scrapping since '02!!!)
oh my what she does for CARDS FOR KIDS is so inspiring.. she's an amazing creative soul!
I have been a huge fan of Jennifer's for many years. Her creations are so striking and yet can be so simple to recreate, especially when watching her how-to videos, which ROCK by the way! Her love of family, friends and complete strangers inspires me to go out and embrace new adventures.
I really liked Jennifer's comment about "trying" a color combination on a card before using it in a scrapbook layout. I tend to come up with my them in different ways and never thought to let a card inspire my pages.
I love that Jennifer doesn't pin herself down to one style. That makes me feel better for flip-flopping around the style world!
Jennifer is my favorite craft blogger - her work inspires me almost daily. I love what she's doing with the Cards for Kids drive. She's so creative and generous with her time and talent. I just wonder, with all she does, when does she sleep???
Great interview. Jennifer is such an inspiring person for so many reasons as you can see by some of these post. I have to say that if I am looking for inspiration I always turn towards Jennifer's blog. She a genius with colors, and her style is always simple.
So happy to see an interview with Jennifer! I love her style and the fabulous ideas she shares, I especially enjoy her videos! I love that she loves her job so much and that she's been so committed to Hero Arts!
Love everything Jennifer does... she is an amazing teacher!!
Makes me actually sit and try new things!!
Jennifer is so talented! I love that she says her style is "open"! I often don't know where to put myself in a style category, so I think I will quote her from now on. Thanks Jennifer!
Fabulous interview! Jennifer really is the BEST! Super talented and has a heart of gold. Love her! Love that she's inspired by Etsy. Will have to look around there and see if I can get me some inspiration too. :)
It is amazing to be so young and have so much success! The most impressive thing to me and most inspirational thing about Jennifer is the importance of all the friends she has made in her journey because of what she does. A person who is talented and sucessful because of the talent is to be admired, but a person who is successful and has many friends because she shares that talent is to be celebrated.
Jennifer McGuire has been my inspiration for a while now. She seems to be so generous - she is always doing videos to help us poor souls use our supplies!
I admire the fact that she is so giving and shares her tips - I also find it fun that she has Tim Holtz as an idol - another one who has inspired me greatly these past few years!
Sandra
I love Jennifer's idea of keeping it simple to start, and, like Jennifer, I have found that card making has made my scrapbooking more interesting and has allowed me to utilize scraps and try new things.
I like the idea of when she finds something she like on the computer, she copies it and drops it into an idea folder on her computer.
What Jennifer does with ink just inspires me! She's just so talented, down-to-earth, and giving.
I like how she coined "open style." I've been wondering what my style is and I think this is it because I like to try it all.
Love Jennifer and all her fussy cutting. She's inspired me to do more of it even though it takes time, the result is AWESOME!
Most inspiring was the open-style concept and not feeling presured, so she could accept whatever she comes up with. I think it is a great philosophy!

Great interview! Love all those butterflied colored with Copics. Love where she gets inspiration, especially Boden - have to check them out!
Awesome!! I ♥ Jennifer McGuire's work!! She has such talent and it really inspires me in my paper crafts. I love the way she takes ideas she finds and organizes them. I may have to try to do something like that. Thanks for sharing!!
Hugs,
Amy ♥
Jennifer Mcguire always always inspires me...infact i am a frequent visitor of her blog!! I am inspired by what she said about keeping it simple! Scrapbooking is so expensive its sometimes hard to break out and try something new, but if you keep it simple and see if its for you your not invested to much! Love that.
Wow, you are amazing! I really enjoyed reading about you, and learning what inspires you! Now I am inspired!
Love Jennifer McGuire, love her videos and I did learn a lot of techniques thru them. She was one who inspired me into card making, started making cards after I saw her videos. Thank you Jennifer, everything you say and do inspires me.
I enjoyed reading the pros and cons of her perfect job! I'd love to stay home and create all day. But I totally understand how you wouldn't be able to ignore the "home responsibilities". ;) I loved her IDEA binder.
Thanks for the chance to win some awesome stamps!
Great interview, and such fabulous projects. Really love all of those colored butterflies, just beautiful! :)
Jennifer is inspiring because of how she gives back, always willing to do videos to teach others and getting the cards for cards drive going and continuing.
Wow, love the butterflies! A wonderful read today.
Hugs
Tanya
I get a lot of inspiration from Jennifer as well. I love that she has an "open" style because she is always experimenting and trying new things and that inspired me to do the same.
I love that Jennifer finds inspiration off Etsy because I do too! How cool is that?!
I have been a fan of Jennifer, and have things in my idea file from WAY BACK when on Two Peas. She is such a genuine and oh-so talented person. I really admire her Cards-for-Kids drive.
There are two things that I love from Jennifers responses - the first being that she said she has an open style - I love that because I feel I am that way too, the second is something I feel from her responses and that is passion. Her passion is truly inspiring.
Thanks for sharing with us. I was most inspired by your idea folder and the way you organize.
I love Jennifer's work...I stumbled upon her website just a couple of months ago and she inspired me to start getting some hero art stamps. I posted that I had gotten my first stamp and I couldn't believe that she generously mailed me some stamps to add to my just started collection!
Her site inspired me to get my boys (ages 8 and 5) to help me find jokes for her Cards for Kids and we've been working on that. She's definitely got a gift--creative and talented yet incredibly generous...
Original. Kind. An inspiration to everyone in all areas of her life. Jennifer...you are setting the bar high.
Jennifer is so adorable! I admire her for not only being a wonderful artist and teacher, but for inspiring others to create cards for sick children. I love when successful people use their talent and gifts for a larger purpose. She has my utmost respect. How cute is she? Enjoyed reading this post!
I have loved Jennifer's Scrapbook pages from the first time I saw them when she was a CKU hall-of-famer and now I love her cards. Great interview - she is such a genuine, generous person! Love her approach to trying new techniques - Keep it simple!
I love that Jennifer gathers inspiration from etsy!! Its so fab to see hand crafters finding inspiration from other hand crafters, designers, and artists!! Its a great way to support each other across the creative board! :>
What a terrific interview! Love Jennifers attitude and her down to earth demeanor along with her talent and style and her gift for giving! Love the Cards for Kids program; she's just very inspiring in whatever she's doing!
Jennifer McGuire's work is an inspiration! I love her butterflies!
I love that she believes in using her talents by teaching others and by giving back to the community via the work she does for sick kids.
I'm a huge Jennifer McGuire fan! I had to smile a little when she said she doesn't have a style. The minute I see one of her cards I KNOW it was done by her. Very talented lady.
I liked her comment about keeping it simple. It sounds like such an easy thing to do, but can be more difficult in reality.
Great interview - thanks!
I am SO with her on Boden!!! I own exactly ONE piece from them, however, I POUR over their catalog if for nothing but the fabulous inspiration that it offers!
I am inspired to start looking at retail stores for ideas. That picture of the dress gave me ideas too.
Holy Cow!!! What terrific cards! TFS
I love Jennifer M. She has such great values and is always so inspiring. The work she's doing in the Cards for Kids is so selfless. What a great way to use your talent.
It makes me feel good about my crafting to know that she says "don’t feel pressured to get certain results, but rather can accept whatever I come up with." I can live by that rule.
I really appreciated Jennifer McGuire's fresh and simple style. I appreciate her dialog and will try visiting Etsy for inspiration. I am relatively new in this card art but find it so satisfying. I call it "my therapy". I liked her fresh approach to trying something new and go with it. Great interview.
Jennifer is a huge inspiration to me. When she originally did her post on coloring the butterflies...I thought...I can do that...I got out my suppplies and went to work. They turned out great. Her step by step tutorials are fabulous.
Charmaine
I LOVE what Jennifer does and appreciate her time/talent in helping those like me who want to be crafty. Keep it simple . . I just need to keep remembering that!
Lovely interview! Love your thoughts on how you keep your ideas and that you read Boden catalog! I love to look thru that one!
Wonderful interview! I am inspired everyday by Jennifer and her kind heart. Her card drives for sick children obviously takes a lot of time, but gives so much to these children.
I have been on Etsy a lot lately looking for ideas--it's great. Like her idea about making a folder with inspirational ideas. Great for keeping them in one place. The stamps are beautiful!
I am such a huge fan of Jennifer McGuire! Love her work. Especially love that she has gotten into Copics lately, because I have too! They just make my stamped images come alive!
I am so inspired by everything Jennifer does, most inspiring though is her great attitude & humble nature. Thanks so much for this lovely interview with a truly lovely woman.
Jennifer's advice to keep it simple definitely rings true to me--I am always trying to put too much on one card and can't just leave well enough alone! It's nice to be reminded to keep it simple!
Jennifer is amazing... I love that she colors while watching movies. What a great thought to do! And it's good to know that sometimes she struggles keeping a balance too.
Jennifer is such a talented person! I love how she is inspired by so many different things and uses them to create beautiful cards and crafts :)
Love the interview! I hadnt thought to look to etsy for inspiration, just cool shopping. I'm going to try that. Also, using stamps in scrapbooking. Yes, I need to get back to my scrapbooks....
