Start to Finish Week Kicks Off Here With a Challenge!

It's Start to Finish Week, friends! The week started over on Paper Crafts Connection, we're sharing a day today, and it will finish here in the Moxie Fab World. Get it? Start to finish? *wink* Oh, there's nary a shortage of cleverness over here in our neck of the woods, I tell ya.

I'm super excited to start talking about this moxie fab special issue! I mean seriously, your eyes will be bugging out--and not just when you see all the amazing projects that grace its pages, but also when you see all the inspiration it offers for completing the card. I mean, let's face it, a card with just a front is only half-way done. In magazineland, we typically only show you the fronts of cards because we can show you more unique ideas that way, but if you want your cards to be cohesive--and perhaps even more importantly--if you want the recipient of your cards to get that extra special surprise when they open the card up, it only makes sense to carry out some of your ideas from the outside to the inside as well.

Today I've got something really special for you as we celebrate! I've asked some of the designers from the issue to create never-seen-before complete cards just for you as inspiration for our next challenge here in the Moxie Fab World--our Start to Finish Challenge! Check it:

Pearty Great Card by Teri Anderson

Moxie Fab Alert: Notice how Teri takes those cute pears from the outside and puts the punny statement relating to pears on the inside. I also love how Teri has carried the vertical panels from the outside to the inside as a way to make the design cohesive. Moxie fab, Teri, moxie fab!

Such a Blessing Card by Lisa Johnson

Moxie Fab Alert: In this moxie beautiful card, Lisa has re-emphasized the sentiment on the inside. The statement, "Many thanks for your thoughtfulness" on the front stands alone just fine, but the inside sentiment, "You are such a blessing" hits the thought home.

You Make Me Hoppy Card by Betsy Veldman

Moxie Fab Alert: In this cutie-pie card, Betsy has taken two major steps towards finishing her card completely. First of all, she's split the sentiment. It begins with "You make me..." and it ends with that punny surprise on the inside, "...hoppy." Second, she's taken those super cute hearts from the front, to the inside left to the inside right, emphasizing an important design element that also gives us the sense that the frog is actually "hopping." Love it!

I'm Thinking of You Card by Courtney Kelley

Moxie Fab Alert: This card is completely cohesive in that the design has been carried through to the inside. The front has a lot of pow with the meaning of the card centered there, but then you open it up, see those joyful flowers again, that fun graph paper, and the bottom scalloped border and "surprise"! Someone just got wowed!

Sweet Pea Card by Kim Hughes

Moxie Fab Alert:
This fun card shows one of the easiest approaches to creating a cohesive card. She's put the design element on the front (see right image) with the words "little sweet pea" which give us an inkling as to what the card is about, then she puts the full sentiment on the inside (see left image.) She's also carried important design elements throughout including cardstock and ink color, but by adding the three buttons on the inside that mimick the three buttons on the outside, the card becomes wonderfully cohesive.

A Day Without Laughter Card by Maren Benedict

Moxie Fab Alert: Again, this fun card splits the sentiment and carries the design throughout. I love the color combination Maren's used in the patterns she's chosen--and really if you've got a good thing goin' why not continue it onto the inside?

You Give My Heart Card by Heidi Van Laar

Moxie Fab Alert: I love window cards because they just give you a "hint" as to what lies behind. In this card, you know you're going to get to peek at something yummy, and sure enough, you do!

B Mine Card by Julia Stainton

Moxie Fab Alert: Here again, we've got a split sentiment and a follow-through with design elements. When you first see this card, all you see is "B." Be what? B good? B safe? B true to yourself? Nope, it's B mine. Delish.

Piece of My Heart Card by Kim Kesti

Moxie Fab Alert: This super cool card by Kim Kesti could only work on a card where we can see the outside and the inside. We see the patchwork heart with the small heart punched out of it on the outside only to find it on the inside with that heartfelt sentiment. Now that tugs at your heartstrings!

Whaddaytink, friends? Are you ready to give this a try? I'd love to see your takes on creating the complete card. Whether the inside of the design coordinates with the outside of the design, the sentiment is split so the punch is on the inside of the card, and/or an interactive element takes us from the inside to the outside of the card, I can't wait to see what you can come up with! Link up your projects below using Mr. Linky and if you don't have a blog, upload your photos to this flickr group. When you take your photo, so we can really see the inside and outside up close and personal, take a separate shot of the outside and the inside and load them up separately on your blog.

You have until midnight on Monday, January 25 MST to enter. The winners will be shown on this blog on Wednesday, January 27, will receive an "I'm Moxie Fab" badge for their blogs, and will receive a moxie fab prize as well.

But wait! There's more! Leave me a comment telling me which of these projects speaks to you the most and why, or what you love about the Start to Finish issue, and I'll choose one lucky winner to receive all 9 of these cards! Now that's a big finish!

Before you skeedaddle, make sure you stop by Paper Crafts Connection to see our last-but-not-least cover girl and have another chance to win a moxie fab prize!

I love Start to Finish Week,

~Cath

PS We've got another challenge going on in the Moxie Fab World at the same time! Be sure and enter our Jan/Feb Color Play Challenge by this Monday at midnight! It's time to play in color!

I am just drooling from all of this goodness! I love Kim Kesti's heart card! As you say, moxie fab! I will be trying that one out for sure. Thank you for all of these great chances to win.

cgargus said...

I love Lisa's card, and Kim's, and Courtney's... I just can't pick!! Such talent! Thanks so much for the chance to win!!

NinaB said...

These are all so pretty. What perfect timing as the recent cards I've made have the insides done, too. I can't wait to link, but there's no Mr. Linky?

Brooke said...

I usually write a lot inside cards so Betsy and Kim Kesti's cards are my fave as they have lots of white space. I love how they have added to the card by completing the inside but managed to keep it sweet and simple.

Angela said...

I love them all -- it's too hard to choose. So different from each other, but all absolutely fabulous!! Great inspiration, too.

Chris Cross said...

These cards are gorgeous, and I can't believe how I struggle with the insides after completing the outside of a card I am really proud of.

~Q~ said...

I love Lisa's card - it is just phenomenal. She truly carried over the beauty of the front to the inside. I really need to the same thing myself. I think I will be picking up this magazine so I can make an effort to jazz up the interiors of my cards! Thanks for the chance to enter!

Melisa Hunter said...

Wow! What incredible cards! Everyone has added such special touches to the insides. What fun little surprises!

christina #4635 said...

My favorite is You stole a piece of my heart - adorable!!

karennarelle said...

Firstly, let me hust say that i love all the cards. My favourite would probably be......???? ummmm You stole a piece of my heart. Just beautiful.

Loriann said...

Wow so hard to pick.. I am going to buy this mag so I can be inspired. The one card since I have to pick one, is Lisa's card. Love the colors, texture and style. She is my hero..

Eveline said...

Another great issue. What fun to see a card decorated on the inside too. All cards shown here look so good.
Eveline.

Cynthia said...

Wow! Every card is so awesome, I can't choose. I really like the I'm thinking of You card with the cutout circle and buttons. Love the look of that!
It's an easy way to get the inside of the card to look as good as the outside. That's my biggest challenge....I never know what goes on the inside of the card so this issue will be very helpful for me!

Thanks for sharing!

OMGoodness...such inspiration!!!! I love them ALL...but hmmm...if I had to only pick just one....I'd pick Heidi's:) love that girl's style and her interior is definitely decorated as much or even more than her exterior...good grief...

I'm a lazy bones card maker and seldom fuss with the interior of a card...this is going to be a fabbie challenge for me...

mommyabbytommy said...

I love all of the start to finish cards! I think I like Betsy's the best, it's just so darn cute. I'll have to be much more conscious of finishing what I start!!

Karen said...

Can I pick two? I love them all, but especially Be Mine and You Make Me Hoppy!

Chriss Blagrave said...

All of these cards are outstanding! My top two are "Such a Blessing" and "A piece of my heart". I kinda melted at both of these...

Mama Tuttle said...

Oh man . . . I'm totally loving this issue!! I was lucky enough to win it and it's AWESOME!! I love Lisa and Betsy's cards!! They are so cute!! The heart with wings one is great as well!

PamS said...

Although I like them all, my favorite is the 'piece of my heart' by Kim Kesti. I am always telling my family to be careful with the piece of my heart that I have given them to carry. This card would be perfect for all of them.

Julia said...

They are all gorgeous cards, but the one that speaks to me the most is Maren's "A day without Laughter". I'm a nurse and I agree with this totally. I've always used laughter in my profession and I can say that it really works. I've had many patients ask for "the nurse who laughs all the time". A day without laughter is just another day.

Erika M. said...

I love them all but if I have to choose I really like Betsy's because it's just too cute!

Betty said...

All of the cards are super good...such talented ladies! I almost always finish the inside of my card as a surprise for the recipient...and it's fun! Thanks for another chance to win!

Holly Saveur said...

love all the cards and the ideas.
I allways decorate the inside of my cards, and the back gets a bit of paper and a handmade stamp with my name.

Holly.

Tracey McNeely said...

All fabulous, but Betsy's You make me Hoppy speaks to me. I just love the colours and the fun of the card.

Jamie said...

I couldn't possibly pick a favorite, they are all so great!

Lan said...

What fabulous cards! I love how the sentiment is split on Betsy's card. Of course I have a big thing for hearts and cute frogs too :)

Loydene said...

I love the "Thinking of you card" because I love the funky flowers .... but the "lack" of sentiment on the inside rather defeats the purpose of this article. While I love that card -- and totally plan to use the idea! -- the floral image, colors and sentiment of "Such a blessing" really provide a complete card picture! Sometimes it is hard to know what to put on the inside of a handmade card, so having help is fun!

Marla said...

So much inspiration here! Lisa Johnson's card is so beautiful. This looks like a really great special issue.

The McCullough Family said...

These are all wonderful! I love Kim's patchwork heart. I love Courtney's flowers that peek through the cut out. I love the hopping trail on Betsy's card. I could go on and on! This is something I have never worked on before in my card making and I am excited to tackle insides that coordinate with the outsides.

Mary Ashby said...

ALL of these cards are so different and yet simply PERFECT! Such talent!

Kay said...

I love them all!! I'll have to say that all the little hearts on Betsy's card really caught my eye. I also love Heidi's big heart with wings and Courtney's card with the flowers. Okay, I CAN"T pick just one! ;o)

Rhonda Miller said...

These cards are so lovely. It's hard to choose one. I do love the you make me hoppy card. It's simple, but beautiful and so fun. This looks like so much fun. I can't wait to get started.

kellychristinekelly said...

I like Courtney's card framing the inside feature the best. The window frames the button flowers so nicely and gives the card beautiful depth.

Jennie said...

Love these cards! My favorite is Lisa Johnson's Such a Blessing card...just beautiful but I love them all :o)

Sarah said...

I am in LOVE with Courtney's card and it was a close thing...but Kim Kesti really wowed me with her gorgeously simple card. I walked away from this post thinking 'I can do that'....Thanks!!!!
I am THE WORST about the insides of my cards and I vow to take more time with them.

Andi (RrlScrapGal) said...

Oh my... Gorgeous creations!!!
I love them all! Each has a great design to lift! I am drawn to the ones that still have space on the inside for a written note as well, and I really like the 'you gotta open the card to get the rest of the story'. So, I will have to pick Betsy's adorable card!

Shelly said...

I love the start to finish idea. It's fabulous! Usually creating the card front is super easy, especially with all the ideas floating around out there, but the inside - that's where I get stuck.

Kimberly S said...

They are all super cute! I really love the 'You Make Me Hoppy' with the adorable frog inside! You always have such fun and inspiring posts! :)

Tammy said...

I love Courtney Kelly's cards...she has used my favorite things..orange, flowers and buttons! They are all fabulous!

Sharon D said...

My very favorite is Betsy Veldman's--love her fresh color scheme and those happy hopping hearts! My second favorite (I couldn't mention just one!) is Lisa's--love the elegant inside. They're ALL fabulous!

Betty-Ann said...

They're all beautiful...but I love the idea behind Kim's heart card...very clever!

carol h said...

I love all the cards but I am especially inspired by Betsy's card. What a cute idea--love the frog.

April said...

I really love the "you make me...happy" card. It's so cute and I really like how the sentiment starts on the front and continues inside. Great idea!

Library Lady said...

These projects truly do all qualify for the Moxie Fab stamp of approval. Love the design of Teri's pear card. Betsy always add just the right touches - those hopping hearts leading to the frog - way too cute. How can you not love a onesie with a peapod on it - great job Kim, and the punched out heart on the inside of Kim Kesti's card made me say Awwwww. Love this issue that focuses on finishing the inside of cards. Wouldn't mind an encore to this issue down the road.

Melissa said...

They are all beautiful! I love the heart card with the punched out portion--so gorgeous!

I love the You Make me so Hoppy and You stole a piece of my heart card. They are totally cute as well as all the others.

Sorry for the previous post...I walked away from the computer & my daughter hit the send button before I finished ;)

Nicole Maki said...

Betsy's card totally stole my heart. Kim's card is more my personal style but Betsy's card just made me sit up and take notice. Love it.

They both are my faves because I usually write a long note in my cards so I need some white space. Glad they factored that in.

Sue D said...

I really like all the ideas I am seeing showing the coordinating insides--absolutely fabulous! My favorite is Lisa's Such a Blessing Card--so peaceful.

KittyMama said...

Oh, what fabulous inspiration!! I am adding this post to my list of "things to do look at when i've lost my mojo". Thanks for sharing!

Julie said...

Oh gosh, pick just one??? Gotta be the Sweet Pea card from Kim Hughes....not sure but I think it might be those dang snaps in the crotch of the onesie that I just love!!!

Holly S said...

It is too hard to pick just one but my fav is the You Make Me Hoppy Card by Betsy Veldman-love the colors love the hearts following the frog! Although I usually don't make cards, I do get paper crafts because the ideas can translate onto a 12X12 layout.

Jennifer Carter said...

These cards are great, it's hard to pick a favorite. I'd have to go with the "I'm Thinking of You Card" by Courtney Kelley though because I love the way she did her flowers and the colors that she chose!

Leah the Orange said...

oooh! love this idea - and am ogling all the fab creations! i especially like that it's given me new inspiration, because i often leave the insides of my cards blank (usually because i'm stumped). brilliant!

Cindy Holshouser said...

I like them all but Kim's card with that punched out card is just soooo darn clever. Who wouldn't love the get that?

Stephanie Smith said...

I think the frog Valentine card is so cute. Thanks for the chance to win all this yummy goodness!

bzyPTmom said...

These cards are beautiful, I guess my favorite card is the blessing one--love the colors and the message. I've always tried to link the outside and inside of my card--by using a similar embelly or some of the PP--I think it's a good thing to do and can't wait to get this issue!

Lynette C said...

All the cards are so creatively made. I am so impress with Sweet Pea Card by Kim Hughes. Makes me laugh. So super duper cute!

Diana N. said...

I have to pick one as my favorite? I like them all and want to make each and every one! OK, I pick "I'm thinking of you". It is so versatile.

Elaine A said...

What absolutely lovely cards! It is almost impossible to pick just one, they all speak to me. But I would say my top 2 would be Julia's B mine card and Kim's Piece of my Heart card.

Elaine Allen

Ann Cicilie said...

Oh my, I love all of them! But think I'm gonna choose "B mine", because of the great vintage feeling that card gives me :)

Ash said...

Oh it's so hard to choose just one card because all of them were wonderful but the one I liked the most was the "You stole a piece of my heart" card. I love that the missing heart piece is on the inside of the card. It makes the front of the card speak without words.

Also, my favorite thing about the Start to Finish issue is actually seeing the inside of cards. I always wondered if people were just leaving the inside of the card blank lol

resmith said...

All the projects are just fabulous! I love the idea of continueing the card to the inside.

JeanFB said...

All of these cards are fabulous, but I'd have to say Julia Stainton's is my favorite! I've always loved her style, and this combo of vintage elements and shabby chic design, with the tri-fold card.... LOVE it!

"Divine" Hand said...

The B mine card really popped out to me! The design, colors, and ofcourse cleverness won my heart over!!!
thanks!

shellie_hartsock said...

I love Betsy's hoppy card. So cute. Love all the ideas for the insides!

Amy said...

Such amazing cards!! I'll admit that I am a bit lazy about finishing up the inside of a card, but this post has inspired me to give it a try. They are all fabulous, but I think that Courtney Kelley's card with the pop of colorful button flowers peeking through the circle window is the one that has me wanting to look at it over and over. Thanks for sharing!!

Carol M. said...

These are all so great. I blog hopped over and checked these out first so I could really REALLY appreciate their uniqueness!!! Kin Kesti's heart card speaks volumns to me. Also the B..Mine card and all of the cut-out cards! Like I said..too many to pick a fave!!

Okay---I love all of them! Surprise! But my very favorite is the punched heart! I just love the pieced feel of the hear and then to have the little one inside is perfect!

Karin said...

I have to vote for the froggy...I love puns on homemade cards!

Miriam said...

All the cards are fabulous! I really enjoyed Lisa's because she solved a problem for me. I tend to stay away from dark carstock because I won't be able to write on the inside, but with the inside coordinating the way it did that solves the problem. :)

thanks,
Miriam

SO much MOXIE FABNESS! I love all these cards- and had seen at least sneaks on several of the blogs- but I hadn't seen the 'b mine' card yet- so that catches my eye right now. Don't think for a second I didn't WOW on each of those blogs!!!

I love the yellow and orange tone of A Day Without Laughter Card by Maren Benedict, another reason is that the quote is so true!

I appreciate all of these examples of complete cards. Tips can be had from each of the ladies on how to continue the interest on the front of the card to the inside.

Lisa's Such a Blessing card spoke to me the most out of the group. She used strong colors with a subtle touch. There is wonderful texture along with curves and right angles. And the design just flowed from the outside to the inside. I'd be honored to receive this card in the mail.

I have two favorites A Piece of My Heart by Kim Kesti and You Make Me Hoppy Card by Betsy Veldman. I like Kim's mix of papers and the sentiment and I like Betsy's little trail of hearts and her bright colors. All are great! Thanks for all the inspiration.

All of the cards are amazing. You Make Me Hoppy is one of my favourites, I like the heart trail that leads you to the inside.

Wonderful cards! Great issue showing all the ideas to make the cards and continue to the inside with a theme.

I think I'm too late as it's now 9pm on Monday 18th in Australia, but just wanted to share how this challenge inspired me :)

I love all of the designers' cards, but Julia's split sentiment card really caught my eye! The color palette is one of my favorites, and the design just makes us want to find out the rest of the sentiment. Lovely work!

I hardly take the time to complete the inside of a card to coordinate with the front so, for me, this is a great challenge! I created a clear card for this challenge and added it to Mr. Linky.

Thanks so much for the inspiration!

I love every one of these cards, but Maren's card "A Day Without Laughter", is the one that 'speaks (volumes) to me'! Life is so short - I try to find something to laugh about each day! As for the Start to Finish issue, I don't have it yet, but I'm sure I will love everything about it!!!

I really love "I'm Thinking of You." Using a window cut out in the front means that you can have the inside and out decorated by only embellishing once!
