Project: Inspired By with Paper Crafts Go-to Gal Teri Anderson

Happy Thursday friends!

It’s all about the inspiration, right? Well, check out how Go-to Gal Teri Anderson was inspired by Ivanka Lentle in the November/December 2009 issue of Paper Crafts magazine!

Here’s Ivanka’s card:

Snowflake Greetings Card, p. 37

...and here's how it inspired Teri:

Ivanka's clean and crisp design drew me in the first time I thumbed through the magazine. I love how she glammed up her card with sparkly details: the glittery snowflake; the red rhinestone on the snowflake; and the silver-edged red ribbon. For me, those details add just the right touch to make the card go from wow to wowzers!

For my card, I transformed a boring chipboard snowflake by painting it and adding a coat of glitter on top. I finished the snowflake off with a pink flocked brad. I didn't have any ribbon like Ivanka's so I used snowflake patterned paper. I gave the panel sparkle by placing strips of two-way tape at the top and bottom and dumping clear glitter on them.

I am constantly inspired by the designs and ideas...I find myself scraplifting a lot of the ideas to use, not only for cards, but a lot of other fabulous things!

Ideas that I've gotten from the magazine help me see my scraps in a whole new light. What I think won't ever be useful on a page or card, turns out to be just the thing that some creative genius has used to make their card.

I know there are many publications out there, but anytime I'm struggling for inspiration, I always look at my collection of Paper Crafts magazines - they always help with my creativity block - so many talents showcased and so many different styles.

I love the Card Creations magazines. And I entered that Papercrafts Connection challenge to create a card inspired by something from the magazine. Totally fun - need to do that more! http://scrapsfrommytable.blogspot.com/2009/11/you-make-life-bright-big-flower-card.html

I love the use of non-traditional Christmas colours on some of the cards this year... like the pink on that Noel card!

In the 225 Cards and Gifts issue there was a purse box made from cardstock. Our MOPS coordinator was stepping down to adopt 2 preschool boys and I was looking for a parting gift. This project hit the spot. I assembled the "purse," filled it with blank handmade cards, and presented it to her. Well, the other MOPS moms said, "We want one!" So one of our first group craft projects this year was a purse box and 3 cards to put inside.

Both of the cards are beautiful. I love Teri's idea of double sided tape with the glitter. Awesome way to think out of the box.

The deer card on the front of N/D 09 inspired me to keep my Christmas cards SIMPLE this year! Less stress, more time! I adore that card!

The 225 Cards & Gifts cover had a plastic berry tub turned into a gorgeous container of candy. It inspired me to alter a huge tub of twizzlers that my husband was about to throw away.

I am also a quilter, and quilting themes speak to me of home, hearth, and love. I find that I am drawn more and more to quilt patterns as inspiration for my cards.

That inspiration snowflake card is awesome, and love Teri's take, too. I have to say, I'm pretty literal, so I usually try to remake the cards as closely as I can with whatever supplies I have on hand. For me that's the best thing about the magazine: it provides all the creativity. :)

It's so much more than just one instance that Paper Crafts has inspired me. I always sketch out the card designs I am most in love with to use as card sketches. I have pages of sketches that I have used repeatedly. Thanks for the constant inspiration!

Usually it's just the inspiration that makes me finally stop staring at stuff and makes me actually start and finish a project. That's what I love about Papercrafts.

I am always inspired by other crafters - whether it is colors, LO or images. Everyone has a different take on the same item and my own interpretation has evolved to put my own spin on others work as opposed to a pure case!

I always love seeing all the great color combos for inspiration

I don't get the magazine but I sure would like to.

Whenever I need inspiration I go to my collection of Paper Crafts magazines. You can change the colors, sentiment etc and make it your own. I was reading an old issue about using photo scraps to make mosaics and think I will try that.
