Countdown to 2010: The Top Ten Collections of 2009

We've had a great time in 2009, haven't we friends? But before we bid a fond farewell to the last year in the first decade of the new milennium (can you believe that Y2K was 10 years ago?), I thought it would be moxie fun if, during this final week of 2009 we had a countdown of sorts--a countdown of moxie fabulousness, if you will. And, not only will we count it down, but you'll have a chance to win a prize each day AND--are you moxie ready for this? You'll get to weigh in and vote as well. Sound fun? Then let's get right to it!

Since today is Monday, I thought it only appropriate that I count down the 10 best collections featured as Moxie Mondays here in the Moxie Fab World. These are the trendiest, jaw-dropping-est, spine-tingling-est, moxie fabbi-est collections of the year, according to little ol' moi. Check it, in order of their appearance:

On January 12, I showed you Moda Bella from American Crafts. It's simply swimming with style—in its color palette, in its play on traditional patterns in fashion, and it gets a moxie fab nod as it sets the pace for the first in our countdown:

Bohemian

On March 3, I showed you Communique from Graphic 45. It has a sexy retro-vintage appeal that is enhanced by its simple color palette of red, black, and neutrals and its clean design.

What were we doing on April 13? Hanging out with Winsome from Pink Paislee, of course. This line wowed me with its diversity and its ability to tie seemingly disparate colors, textures, and images together without a hitch.

Sweet from Enchanting

May 4 brought us Peyton from Anna Griffin. Peyton is our girly-girl collection of the year and she's never been more stylish. Animal prints combined with a pink and black color scheme put this girl at the top of her game.

AG1369

On June 8 I showed you this knock-your-socks off collection from Sassafras Lass: Vintage Yummy. Sass Lass always, and I mean always, has a way of combining elements that are so unexpected, and yet work together so well.

Memory Lane

Just in time for the 4th of July, I showed you the Sweet as Cherry Pie from Webster's Pages on June 22. This line combines old-time style with a fresh breeze and the sweet whiff of pies cooling on the sill. I'm there, with you, in another season and time, arm-in-arm.

Little Nibbles

On June 29 I couldn't wait to show you Just Chillin' from Making Memories. One of the trendiest collections of the entire year, Just Chillin' was targeted for teens, but these silhouettes on this woodgrain with the stitched colored lines literally took my trendilicious breath away.

Wood Butterflies

The Boyfriend, the hit collection from Cosmo Cricket, showed up on August 17. With cassette tapes, scantrons, No. 2 pencils, and paper airplanes, this line is a moxie fab blast to my personal brand of past.

Fitting In

On September 7, Report Card from October Afternoon was all the rage. Another nod to retro-vintage, I love the way October Afternoon makes things so simple--reflecting the simpler time they are emulating.

Recess

And last but certainly not least, on November 2 I brought you Nook & Pantry by BasicGrey. Another retro-vintage line, this collection brings us images of doilies, lace, table cloths, and fruit--that simply had me at "hello."

Lemon Meringue Pie

So there you have it--the top 10 collections of 2009. What are your favies? Vote for your top 3 using the poll at the top right-hand sidebar of this blog, then leave me a comment explaining why you voted the way you voted--or tell me what your own personal favie is even if it's not listed here. I'll leave the poll up until I post again tomorrow, continuing our moxie fab Countdown to 2010. Oh, and as I mentioned earlier, I'm giving a prize away to one random winner, so be sure and post your comment by midnight MST on Sunday, January 3 in order to be eligible.

Oh yes, and today's the last day to post your Tuesday Trigger, so I hope you've got some time to play along. In the meantime, feel free to submit your own seasonal Tuesday Triggers for the months of January and February to me at tuesdaytrigger@gmail.com.

What part of the Moxie Fab World will I countdown tomorrow? Be sure and tune in for the reveal!

Counting it down,

~Cath

I just put my comment under the wrong section (your house looked awesome by the way!) Love all of these beautiful paper treats, but I'll head to the Basic Grey Nook and Pantry first, please!

I love Nook and Pantry by Basic Grey! I love the colors and the designs...makes me want to eat cupcakes all day long!

Michelle said...

I'm goin' with Sassafras on this one. And I think it's just like you said - the unexpected pairings that always work. One of their diecut stickers had that lil' deer in a bright, sunny cloud...kinda odd if you think of it but the colors and the vintagey look of it - didn't even think twice about using it!

Donna VW said...

Sassafras Lass Vintage Yummy is oh so cute - but so is Cosmo Cricket Boyfriend - and don't forget October Afternoon Recess. Thanks for the recap.

There were so many great collections this year. I'd have to say my personal favourites were Cosmo Cricket's Nutmeg and Jolly by Golly and from your list I'm loving Nook and Pantry!

Michelle said...

Sassafras Vintage Yummy all the way. I have "a thing" for old office papers and I love the backs of these papers!

Laurel said...

Oh, I love American Crafts, October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket so those are my favorites!

Andrea said...

I voted for the Cosmo Cricket line and actually I love all their products but my favourite collection of the year was MME OohLaLa :)

Laura said...

The voting widget only let me vote once, so I chose The Boyfriend by Cosmo Cricket. I also really like October Afternoon's Report Card line. I hope Cosmo Cricket gets even more well-known in 2010 -- they are really imaginative and unique. I'm planning on picking up some Jolly by Golly, by golly. lol The only full collections of paper I chose to buy this year were Everyday and Merrymint by American Crafts. I have a small child and some of these other, more sophisticated or vintage-inspired lines just don't work for what I want to be scrapping right now. (But might work great for cards!!)

Yvonne said...

My 3 faves were: Peyton (love it, so bold), Mode Bella (so funky) and Just Chillin' (butterflies and wooodgrain...mmmm). All the collections are great!

AC cause of the gorg clear colors, Pink Paislee cause of the gorg mix of color&patterns and ugh, 3rd is hard - OA because of the wholesome colors&patterns or the fun whimsiness of Sassafras...and I have to say the cosmo one is gorg despite being somewhat muted (and I don't really like muted)

Christina said...

Oh my, I love the American Crafts line!

janelle_d said...

It never fails... I'm always attracted to the Cosmo Cricket products. Although, October Afternoon isn't far behind.

Penny D. said...

tlqueen said...

Love the colors of Bohemian - reminds me of a dress I had in high school in the early 70s. Love the vintage of Communique and Vintage Yummy.

Kimberly S said...

Tough to pick just 3 of them! :) I'd have to say, Peyton from Anna Griffin (that particular pattern is great for Zoo or Animal Kingdom pages...or for Safari stamped cards), The Boyfriend by Cosmo Cricket (just an all around fun collection) & Report Card by October Afternoon (perfect for a family album made up of everyone's school photos). :)

Michelle (mla1111) said...

Just Chillin, Nook & Pantry and Boyfriend! I really loved MME colorful Christmas line too! So adorable.

Mary said...

Hi Cath, I tried to vote and when I clicked on the vote tab it came up page can't be found. I voted for communique from Graphic 45 because I love that Vintage feel and I would work the Peyton animal print in with it of course. That would look oh so wild.

Love anything from Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket. I also loved the Graphic 45 lines. I received all my grandmothers pics from my mom and aunt so I could salvage them from those horrible magnetic, stick em down albums (and my grandmother added scotch tape for extra staying power). That paper line is perfect for those pics. It only took 4 bottles of undo and 5 hours of scanning to get those pics out and on discs for the whole family.

My favorites in order: Making Memories: Just Chilling, American Crafts: Moda Bella, and Pink Paislee: Winsome. I prefer these becacuase the overall designs don't compete with my pictures. I don't chose graphic designs that I feel I cannot scrap over....some are so detailed that I would rather frame them than scrap on top of them.

My favorite is the bella paper. It is colorful, graphic and it pops. I also love the Pink Paislee and the boyfriend paper, because they just speak to me.

So, I could only vote for one, so I went with Sassafrass! It's awesome. However, I also dug absolutely everything Cosmo Cricket did this year. So colorful and fun!

I voted for Vintage Yummy as I thought it was the most well done of the retro-cute. Nook & Pantry for the 30's patterns with a mod twist, and Graphics 45 Communique for the nostalgic blast from the past!

I couldn't seem to vote for 3 collections, only 1. My top 3 are Winsome, Nook & Pantry and Report Card. But my very favorite collection is probably Farm Fresh by October Afternoon - love the colors and patterns. My top 3 manufacturers are October Afternoon, Pink Paislee and Basic Grey.

Sassafrass got my vote. All the designs in this collection are great but that butterfly on woodgrain is stunning.

All of these collections are great but surprisingly the only ones I bought are Nook and Pantry and The Boyfriend. OA's Report Card is next on my list, though. My vote went for the OA Report Card.

Glad to hear the Tuesday Trigger will go a few more months. I'm off to search for some submissions.

The Boyfriend, Report Card and Nook & Pantry are my faves. The colors are what catch my eye. The poll would only let me vote for ONE, not three, though. =(

I love the colors in Lemon Meringue Pie! (Oh and sounds good too!!)

I love them all, but the Boyfriend and Nook & Pantry are awesome. My favorite of the year would have to be Earth Love, by CC.

Along with the vintage prints I adore (graphica and memory lane), I think Boyfriend is just plain fun! Those are my three :)

My favorite is Report Card by October Afternoon because I am a homeschool teacher/Mom to my 2 boys. Next would be Sassafass Vintage Yummy because I love vintage. Finally, I like the Sweet as Cherry Pie by Webster Pages because I love the good old USA and apple pie. Thanks for letting me play. By the way, I could only vote once. God bless and Happy New Year!

The poll only allowed me to vote for one. I chose Sweet as Cherry Pie because I love everything Webster's Pages puts out. I wish more crafters knew about their lines. Thanks to you, the word IS getting out.
