Stretch Your Holiday Style: A Clean & Graphic Challenge!

Welcome to Holiday Cards & More Week, friends! I'm stoked as a fire in a chimney before the arrival of Old St. Nick--wouldn't want him to burn his britches now, would I?

Turn on the light, clear off the crafting table, organize your tools, and crack your knuckles, 'cause this week is all about s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g your holiday style!

Remember this post when we talked about style and this post where we talked about taking a risk and putting yourself out there? (Congratulations, by the way, to the whoppin' 19 first-timers who got acceptances last week for the March/April 2010 issue of Paper Crafts magazine!)

This week in the Moxie Fab World we are going to explore all kinds of styles--a different one every day, in fact. And honeys, we're not going to just explore--you're cordially invited to roll up your sleeves, scoop up your courage, and get in there and s-t-r-e-t-c-h.

Today's style? Clean and graphic:

Not a Creature Card by Layle Koncar, p. 66

Moxie Fab Alert: Clean and graphic means white space, clean lines, and simple treatment of text. Layle has all this going on in this card and more. There aren't a lot of different colors--just green, red, and two neutrals; and there aren't a lot of layers. It's simple, to the point, and moxie fab!

'Tis the Season Card by Danni Reid, p. 10

Moxie Fab Alert: The lines in this card are extraordinarily clean and there is plenty of white space. She's used a simple color scheme, and the text? Well, my goodness but doesn't this just make you smile on sight?

Funky Happy Holidays Card by Kim Kesti, p. 30

Moxie Fab Alert: This is clean and graphic at its best! It meets all our requirements: white space, clean lines, and simple treatment of text. Not only that, but the colors are super duper fun!

Ready to play? Here's how:
  1. Create a clean and graphic holiday card, gift wrap, ornament, home decor item, or paper crafted gift.

  2. Upload a photo of your project to your blog, come back here and post the URL to your project (not your blog) in the Mr. Linky box below. Post a link to the Moxie Fab World in your blog's text to encourage your readers to see the other projects that have been linked.

  3. If you don't have a blog, go to this Flickr gallery, upload your photo, and post the URL to your project (not the group) in the Mr. Linky box below.

  4. Just for fun, upload your project to the World Card Making Day Website by clicking here. Your holiday card will become part of the worldwide celebration of the joy of making handmade cards just in time for the holiday card making season! Not only that, but it will also become eligible to win a few contests we've got up our sleeves!
Accomplish this task by midnight MST on Monday, September 7 (that's Labor Day). 2 winning entries will be showcased on this blog on Wednesday, September 9 and will receive the Merrymint collection from American Crafts:

Whether you're style is clean and graphic or if you've always wanted to give it a try, now's your chance to s-t-r-e-t-c-h your holiday style!

Stay tuned tomorrow to find out what the next style contest will be. And be sure and click on over to Paper Crafts Connection where Kelly's interviewed Jennifer Beason, the chic-alicious designer who created that moxie fab nutcracker featured on the cover of Holiday Cards & More!

Keeping it clean yet graphic,

~Cath

Well, Cath, I hope I have done this the right way. I created this card with very non-traditional Christmas colors, but I liked the outcome! I have posted a link to the actual blog entry (not just my homepage). I hope that is what you mean. If it is not, then I'll keep an eye on this post and try to fix it! Thanks for your moxie fab world!

Yeah, I hope that link worked! I LOVED the new American Crafts Blue Skies collection so much. I got Maya road's new chip birds and instantly thought "Partridge in a pear tree!" So here it is!

For some reason, I thought I was going to a Flickr pool (I should know better) so the card is at the end of a post instead of the beginning. Thanks for looking. This one is a really clean one.

This was way out of my comfort zone... I'm a shabby chic kinda girl but I still love my results. Sorry about the image quality... my camera's batteries were low...
