I think this was an extra fun challenge because there's a lot of new product to play with and though perhaps a little cheesy, I think this type of theme lends itself well to an encouragement card. If you know me well at all, you know how much I value the ability to marry a design with a keen sentiment. For the sentiment is the point of giving a card--otherwise we wouldn't spend so much time in the card aisle at Target hunting for the perfect card to give someone. It has to look just the right way while at the same time say just the right thing. The winners of this challenge all did that superbly. They married the sentiment with the design in truly moxie fab ways!
But I digress. Here are the winning entries of our A Rainy Day Challenge. I hope you enjoy them as much as I d0!
Our first winning entry comes from anya.schrier who has paired a lovely color combination with these trendy umbrellas--perfectly executed and placed, btw--with a cheerful sentiment. Bravo!

Here, camcasfam has worked up a card with the Wellies & Brellas collection we featured in a Moxie Monday a couple of weeks ago to perfection! I love the grouping of the flowers and wellies, and the sentiment paired with the girl underneath the umbrella is quite poignant!

This cute card by stampinangie is another example of a perfect sentiment/design pairing. She's done a cute play on words here, for the inside sentiment reads, "make a splash!" What a better way to encourage someone than that?

In this super creative transparent card by dscrapyard the sentiment inside reads, "The way I see it...if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."--Dolly Parton. It's as though those two little snails were chatting with one another, figuring things out together. I love, love, love the beads/sequins hanging down from the clouds as "raindrops" and the little puddle underneath the snails? TDF cute!

And last but certainly not least, this super cute card from Tiffany Heilman. I love the retro image of the girl in the galoshes with the umbrella, I love that Tiffany used the raindrop pattered paper in the background, I love the splash of color that she got with the ribbon, and again, the sentiment is absolutely perfect. It's a double entendre in that someone might be under the weather in the sense of being "sick" and also in that this girl is literally "under the weather." Way to go, Tiffany!
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who played. Ladies, please send me your addresses with "A Rainy Day Challenge Winner" in the subject line at cedvalson@ckmedia.com and I'll get a moxie fab prize ready to send your direction.
Stay tuned tomorrow to find out what the next "colorful" challenge might be!
Until then, make it moxie fabulous!
~Cath
