Five (x4) for Friday: Let's Celebrate Summer with a BBQ in the Moxie Fab World!

Happy Summer, friends! While Memorial Day is a somber holiday in the U.S., it's also the official kick-off of summer! Do you have plans this weekend? No? Oh great! 'Cause I'd love to have you join me for a BBQ here in the Moxie Fab World!

Oh, I'm so glad you'll be able to come! What's that? You'd like to bring something? Oh that's wonderful, thanks for offering. I'll be making Greek Chicken and Sour Cream Lemon Pie. You're not sure what you'll bring? Oh no worries, surprise me! There will be plenty to go around, I'm sure!

What an environment for a great party. I'll bring a greek salad made the Tarpon Springs way with a scoop of potato salad at the bottom of each bowl. Also, some fun filled group party games...charades, wacky relays and any others that come to mind.

I'll bring the Crunchy Romaine Salad... ssshhhh, want to know my secret?! I mix in a package of Craisins (DELISH!), and substitute walnuts for the pecans... don't tell!!

Here's the recipe for the perfect picnic cookie:
Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 Cup sugar,2 ¼ Cups flour,1 Cup mashed bananas,2/3 Cup vegetable shortening,2/3 Teaspoon salt,2 eggs,2 Teaspoons baking powder,2 Teaspoons vanilla flavoring,1/4 Teaspoon baking soda,1 package chocolate chips (12 ounces)

Sift all dry ingredients together. In another bowl, cream the shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla to the creamed mixture. Slowly add the mashed bananas alternately
with the dry ingredients. When blended, add the chocolate chips
and gently fold. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for approximately 9-11 minutes. Makes about 2-3 dozen cookies, depending on the size you wish. ENJOY

I will bring BLT dip as an appetizer:

1 cup miricle whip
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup of bacon pieces (I buy the bags)
1/2 cup chopped tomato
1/4 cup chopped green onion or chives
a dash or two of garlic powder

Mix and chill for a couple of hours. Serve with crackers or bread cubes.

That was wonderful!! Felt like I was really there...ok heres the recipe and a link to the pic hehe

2 cups shredded cooked chicken meat
2 cups chopped celery
2 cups sliced almonds
2 cups small seasoned croutons
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
4 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and chopped
2 cups creamy salad dressing, e.g. Miracle Whip
In a large bowl, toss together the chicken, celery, almonds, croutons, Cheddar cheese and eggs. Mix in salad dressing until the ingredients are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight before serving for best flavor.

This is the best salmon marinade you will ever use!

1/2C. butter, 1/4C catsup, 1/4C Soy Sauce, 1T worcestershire sauce, 2T mustard, 2 clover garlic.

Blend together over low heat. Enjoy!

that was great. i have an awesome recipie that had everything to do with chocolate. who doesnt need some chocolate? i do all the time lol. these are called cubin lunches (not sure why):
1 pkg pb chocolate chips
1 pkg reg chocolate chips
1 pkg of butterscotch chocolate chips

mix them all in a large bowl and melt them in the microware (make sure you mix after 45 sec. if they not melted still put in for more time).

add 2 cups of rice krispies and 1 cup raisins to the melted chocolate chips and mix throughly very quick. scoop with a spoon into small or med. baking cups (the paper ones for cupcakes)
put in the fridge and enjoy!

I love these burgers:

1 lb hamburger
1 egg
1/2 cup or so French's fried onions
1 can sliced mushrooms, chopped
1 TBS Worchestershire Sauce
1 TBS Soy sauce

Mix it all together, make into patties and bbq. So delicious!

I'll bring an easy, peasy recipe. Ambrosia Salad -- luv this stuff.
1 can pineapple (drained), 1 can mandarin oranges (drained), 1 bag shredded coconut (8 oz bag), 1 bag mini marshmellows, and 1 container sour cream. Mix it all together and YUMMO. Jenny

Perfect for a no-cook hot summer day
...Peanut Butter Balls

1 reg. size jar crunchy peanut butter
1 pack mini choc. chips
2 c. confectioner's sugar
1 c. nonfat dry milk
6 tbsp. water...

Mix together and make into little balls. Roll balls through graham cracker crumbs. Refrigerate for 1 hour...perfect summer party snack!

FABuloUS CHickEN SaLad...I PROMISE the best ever! Boil Chicken Breasts until fully cooked. Cut into half inch cubes. In a seperate bowl mix together 2 heaping table spoons Helmanns Mayo, dash lemon juice, dash garlic powder, 1/4 cup tiny chopped onions, 1/2 cup chopped celery. Mix while chiken is still warm for best turnout. Wait an hour then serve in Pita Bread. MMMMMMMM! I think I will make some tomorrow!

Great party! Here is a favorite Cole Slaw recipe that is just beautiful and tasty!

Picnic Cole Slaw

1 (1 pound) bag old-fashioned cole slaw mix
1 (11 oz.) can whole kernel mexicorn, drained
1 (2 oz.) jar diced pimentos, drained
2 cups broccoli florets
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup minced fresh parsley
1 red onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/8 cup Splenda
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
In a large bowl, combine the first 8 ingredients, tossing gently.
In a large saucepan, combine apple cider vinegar and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat, let cool completely. Pour dressing mixture over slaw, tossing gently to coat.

I'll bring what my family calls Mexican pie. Line a pie pan with a tortilla load it with cheese and chicken (from those roaster prepared at the supermarket) and your favorite veggies. Add another tortilla on top. Enjoy!

Yougart Jello Ribbon salad - it's really easy to make, just takes some time for the jello to set. Hint: use real Jello brand jello. It sets much better.

Ice tea Boiling water, 3 large tea bags, a splach of lemon or pineapple juice, 1 1/2cups oc sugar

I'll bring the Cowboy Caviar (black bean salsa):
2 cans of black beans (or 1 bb and 1 of another bean) rinsed
1 can of corn rinsed
3 tomatoes chopped
1 avocado (optional) chopped
Fresh parsley or cilantro
2 t red wine vinegar
1 t olive oil
Stir and chill. Served with blue chips, it's addicting!!

Wow...I had a fabulous time and you have the most beautiful things. My favorite was the margarita...or was that margaritaS and the jam jars were way cool. While this isn't a typical BBQ recipe, it wasn't a "typical" BBQ. Besides, these chocolate covered cherries are divine:)

Fruit Dip
One jar of marshmallow cream
One package of cream cheese
One teaspoon of lemon juice

Mix together and served chilled - YUM!

Your party was a great kick-off for summer! Thanks for the invitation. Here's the recipe for the Apple Berry Salsa I brought. We scooped it up with Cinnamon Pita Chips.
2 medium Granny Smith apples, coarsely chopped
1 pint strawberries, diced
2 kiwi, peeled and diced
1 small orange
Measure 1 teaspoon orange zest
Measure 2 tablespoons squeezed juice
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons apple jelly or apricot jam
Mix all gently and serve.

Beer Bread - so simple!
3 cups self rising flour
1 cup sugar (you can less sugar if you prefer)
1 can room temp beer (or any carbonated beverage, NA beer, pop etc)

Cook for 1 hour at 350 in large bread pan.

Cube and serve with dip.

We make this caramel apple salad, and it truly does taste like a caramel apple!! We only use 2 red apples and 2 green apples, leaving out the yellow. Baby Ruth or Snickers, are just as good.


I would bring you a basket of fresh veggies and some wonderful strawberries home grown less than a mile from me as a summer~y and southern hostess gift and bring


1 graham cracker crust
1 can frozen lemonaide
1 can Eagle Brand milk
1 (6 oz.) Cool Whip

Mix milk, lemonaide and Cool Whip together. Stir well. Pour into graham cracker crust and chill for 2 hours or until firm.

thanks for inviting us! We're a big family so I'll bring plenty of the easiest grilled shrimp. Just take a bag of frozen shrimp peeled but tails on.Defrost under water for a couple minutes and then throw in a bowl.Add your favorite zesty itailan dressing and a packet of dry italian salad dressing mix. Marinade in fridge at least 2 hours (overnite is ok too)put on skewers and grill until pink! very good!

This sounds like heaven and I would bring a little slice of heaven with that is simply deeeelicious and you don't even have to feel guilty when eating:

You spread low fat caramel on a large tray. Mix together fat free whipped cream cheese and ad fat free marshmallow topping and then spread that on caramel. Add crush heath on top of that and serve with sliced apples! Yum, Yum! Can't wait for the gathering!!!
