When I had two daughters of my own, the Easter ensemble was just as important. For what young girl doesn't love a springy new frill to put on to usher in a more tranquil season?
Now my girls are grown, but I still walk a little slower past the little girls' department whenever I'm out and about, remembering what fun it was to dress up my own little ones. Here are some delightful dresses to quicken your Easter memories, and perhaps inspire you to create some paper crafted memories of your own in this, the season of peace, hope, and renewal that is spring.

I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers and my Mother always made dresses and shirts out of the same fabric. It was fun when we were little but not so much as we got older though!!!
Blessings,
Christine
My favorite dress was the white lacy dress I got for Easter.Thefollowing years, I refused to wear anything else!
Thank you for the chance to win!
My younger sister and I always had matching pastel colored dresses and bonnets for Easter! Your question brought back many memories of those outfits!
I remember my little white shoes and the sound they made on the sidewalk (after long winters of wearing boots) more so than any dress. Our new Easter outfits also included gloves, hats & spring coats. Love all of the sweet dresses here!
In my family we oftern celebrated together with aunts, uncles, and cousins before a holiday then spent the actual holiday just with family. One of the funniest moments I remebemr about Easter dresses was when I was maybe 4-5 years old. I had my dress already (a cute little sailor number) but no shoes. I rememebr sitting at the shoe store in my dress trying on little red patent leather mary janes right before we had to be at a family gathering (went straight from the shoe store to dinner!)
I remember when i was about 7-8. I had just gotten this dress with little chickens on it, it was soo cute and i was sooo happy. And the first time i put it on i dropped a big spoon of chocolate icecream on it.. was soooo mad :P

I had many cute dresses with hats, gloves and matching purses when I was a little girl, but my favorite Easter dress was from when I was a teenager!! It was solid white, with eyelet, and a full skirt and was sooo pretty! And it helped that I was a size 5!!! LOL
Little girls here don't wear those gorgeous dresses with Easter but I remember coming to Tucson in March 2001 on a pre visit before we moved to live in that town. We visited the mall there and we took pictures of all the beautiful dresses they had for sale. Lovely.
Eveline.
I do remember loving getting dressed up, with the matching hat and the gloves. I would have loved any of those dresses, but the bottom three are my favorites! how sweet!
Loving the new blog banner. Adorable!
It was a beautiful white dress with little flowers in the middle. I love that dress!
I remember one Easter we took a family picture.... Me and my sister we both had the same dress, a beautiful yellow dress with stitched flowers... i remember it flowing when I was walking! I need to check my boxes to see if I still have mine... this was 26+ years ago!
My grandmother would take me to the Polly Flinders store here in Cincinnati and she would let me pickout 5 new dresses. I always wore one for Easter and had my school picture taken in one. The Polly Flinders dress were always had smocked bodices. When I had my daughter I search high and low so she could wear the same type dresses I used to.
My fave Easter memory is five years ago when my son was born on the Easter weekend. :)
The minute I started reading this post, I thought I must find the photos of me and my brother from Easters past. I always had a new dress, clean white gloves, and white socks with lace. My brother always had some kind of dress jacket. I loved dressing my daughter as well, but I really want to scrap those old Easter photos.
It's not a memory that I remember firsthand, but I have photos of the event...
My mom had us all dressed up and my dress came with a matching bonnet and purse. I decided I didn't want to carry the purse, but since the thing cost my Mom some serious money, she kept giving it to me to hold for pictures.
Long story short, we have a pile of pictures of me, red in the face, throwing, hiding, kicking, and otherwise destroying that poor purse. I was about 3.
My fave Easter memory from Childhood is gettting my basket & running around hunting for eggs! I love Easter baskets & Chocolate, too!
Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane! My sister and I are 7 yrs apart, but yet, my mom made us matching Easter dresses one year; plus, my mom's dress matched ours as well:) I have 2 daughters (now grown), but every Easter I loved planning out their new outfits. And, they always had to have an Easter bonnet!
i don't remember many of my easter dresses, but the one i do remember my mom smocked and sewed herself. the dresses she made for my sister and me were purple and had little smocked aprons with bunnies that went over them. looking back we could have really done without the mocked bonnets. seems like the bonnets really dated the outfit. i still have the dresses somewhere.
Amy (amykiane@gmail.com)
For my little girl's first Easter I got her the cutest yellow corduroy dress from Gymboree. With a matching hat. Of course =). Oh, the LOs you can create when the outfit is right...
I loved all my easter dresses as a kid, it was so much fun receiving it on easter morning, with the little white socks with the lace ruffle and the white mary janes but what I will never forget is the easter hat (grrrr). lol
My mom would always make my dresses too but when you put them on for the first time, watch out! There would always be a leftover pin or two in the dress. Just a little reminder that she loved me. :)
Mine is from this year! I have two daughters, Zoey age 3 and Natalie, age 1.5. They received Easter dresses from Nana in the mail and were so excited to see them, I let them try the dresses on. And then we ate lunch... with chocolate pudding... it was everywhere! Luckily I got the dresses in the wash quickly and they are ready to go for Easter! Hee!
Every Easter my Grandma used to take me shopping for the perfect dress. Now that she has passed, I wish I still had a few of those dresses to help keep the memories fresh.
My mother always dressed my sisters and I in matching dresses. Some were homemade, and some were storebought. She did the same thing for Christmas. One year, my younger sisters, my cousin, and I all had the same outfit for school pictures as well!
For me it was always the hats! My mom would pick out matching dresses for my sister and I but we got to choose our own hat and gloves. Man those were the days!!!
Sadly, I don't remember getting Easter dresses....
I remember sitting in church with my easter hat on. I don't remember the dress that much, except there was frilly chiffon fabric. But the hat was awesome.
My Mom made matching dresses for both of us one year. That particular year we were visiting family friends who happen to be a pastor and family. Their oldest and I got bored and went to the park to play while the adults socialized after lunch. We played and played on this merry-go-round in our Easter clothes. A newspaper reporter ended up interviewing us (totally covered in filth -- suffice it to say my white patton shoes weren't white anymore, and my dress may have been torn a bit) and taking our photos which appeared in the Monday newspaper. Needless to say our parents were not exactly proud.
When my daughter was born at the very end of Feb. I got the cutest little easter outfit for her. We decided against a dress as it wasn`t really practical but it had the cutest print pants with ruffles on the bum. Still one of my fave outfits ever!
I remember one Easter, in my Easter dress no doubt, I spent the afternoon drawing an elaborate picture of my house on the sidewalk with chalk. My mom still has picture of me "crafting."
It wasn't a dress, but my mother sewed me this pink floral jumper when I was 9. I HATED it. She had to yell at me to wear it and I remember all the kids in school making fun of me for it. I came home crying and that was the end of my mother's sewing career.
I still feel terrible about it to this day! But I did acquire her sewing machine so I think it all worked out. LOL
I never got a new Easter dress as a child, we didn't have money for such things, so as and adult with an 8 year old, I always make sure my daughter has a new dress at Easter. I sometimes get a new one for Mother's Day!
My birthday is close to Easter . . . and I remember one year -- I must have been about 7 -- my grandma took me to a store and let me pick out an Easter ensemble as my birthday gift. I will never forget trying on dresses and having the sales ladies "ooh" and "aah" over me as I modeled them for my g'ma! I picked out a lovely blue (polyester, LOL!) dress with white gloves, a pretty white purse, and of course, a sweet little white Easter bonnet. I felt so special! And 30+ years later, I have wonderful memories about the afternoon that my grandma spent making me feel like a princess!
When I had a little girl I learned to smock and sew, in that order! I had to learn to sew to put together the dresses I had smocked!
I always made a dress for special occasions and I loved the Easter dress I did when she was 4. It had spring flowers and butterflies and she wore is several times. We joined the town egg hunt and she scrambled around after the eggs it a sea of children. After her age group we sat on the hill and watch the older kids. She snuggled up to our yellow Lab and I have a great photo of them (from the back) with her arm around Abby, her best friend. I was so sad when she out grew the dress, so I am saving it for her daughter someday.
Easter was a wonderful time for our family too. I remember shopping every year for my dress. One dress came with a light pink button down shirt and a velvet green smock over the shirt with pink flowers sewn on. Loved it. Thanks for the memories!
There were 6 of us, 3 boys and 3 girls. The boys always got cute suits and we girls always got new pastel dresses (all the same) with a matching coat, a new purse, a bonnet and white gloves (yes I said white gloves). We would all go to mass, then all go to the Bronx Zoo. There are so many pictures of us on Easter Sundays dressed up at the zoo, I think its because it was the only time we managed to stay clean - LOL! We would then traipse home where my grandmother would put finish the Easter dinner she had started early that morning and then we would get our Easter treats. So many great memories.
Thanks - Elaine Allen
Easter dresses have always been Special in our family. I have fond memories of favorite dresses made by my grandmother, and also dresses I have made for my granddaughters.
Those dresses remind me of when my daughter was little. I loved dressing her up. It also reminds me of stories my mom liked to tell about when we were little. She would buy the mother/daughter dresses for us but it was 1 mom and 5 daughters all dresses alike!
I'm creating a wonderful Easter dress memory this year. My 8 month old daughter will be wearing a dress that was mine as an infant for her Easter photo shoot.
I actualy got the cutest dress for my 3 year old Lola this year- Its really puffy and great pattern, I'm thinking it would be great scrapbook paper!!
Oh.... this is a great memory for me. My mom's now former boss who is retired gave her a bonus one sping. when he gave her a check, he told her that he included a little extra in her check (which was already more than sufficient!) so that she could buy that pretty little granddaughter of hers an equally pretty spring dress. She asked if he had a specific color in mind and he said that it should be pink. So we went to the children's place, bought her a pink linen embroidered dress, got her pictures taken, had one framed, and took one to him. He was the sweetest man, my mom worked for him for many years and he became almost like a member of our extended family. I kept the dress, it's in a box that I am saving for when she has babies of her own.
My funniest memory is one my daughter pointed out. My mother made all my clothes and when my daughter and I were looking at pictures not too long ago she pointed out that my mother had used the same fabric to make my dress 2 years in a row - just a different style. I never noticed...must have been a great sale on that fabric.
My favorite Easter dress memory would be that of my daughter. She just looked adorable and tiny in her smocked dress and bonnet! I tear up thinking about her being so little and growing up so fast. Oh, and I actually have one of those dresses for her! Great choices!
I don't really have an Easter dress memory of my own days, but now that I have a daughter, I like to get her dressed up for Easeter. Unfortunately, my now-7yo daughter doesn't like to dress "fancy" so much. Beware of tights! She even wanted to put pants underneath her fancy dress last year because it was "itchy"! *sigh*
my childhood memories... i actually hated frilly dresses when i was little. they always made me itch and i liked to play in the yard w/ my brother & cousins & would rather be dirty. haha
My Grandmother made me and my sibs special Easter dresses evey year when we were young. Wish I was 5 again. Jill S
my two great grandmothers would argue on which would get to make my dress...so many times I had two and would have to change 1/2 way thru the day!! I now miss that as my little one does not have a homemade dress for easter...the art of sewing did not get passed down!! I remember my dresses though!!!
My mom would make my sister and I Easter dresses every year. And my dad would always buy us an Easter corsage. The two never matched! So we'd wear our flowers on Easter and our dresses the next Sunday!
We never did the Easter dress thing growing up, but my daughter is the only grand daughter on my husband's side..so Gma gets her one every year. This year she even bought her two - she's a little spoiled!
My mom used to dress me and my two younger sisters identically when we were younger. I remember one time after hearing mass during Easter, someone asked my mom if we were triplets. We were wearing a pink dress with white polka dots on it.
I loved sewing for my girls. They are 3 years apart, so they were close in size and I usually made the same dress, just a different coloration. One year was the pinafore (worn like a sleeveless dress) with long pintucked pantaloons underneath. They had wide fabric bows tied in back. They were sooooo cute. They also took soooo long to make, that we had to buy the Easter dresses and the sewn garments were dubbed by the girls as "the Mother's Day dresses"! So goes the best of intentions. No matter when they were ready to wear, they were darling in them! Julie Rae
I honestly don't have any memories of my Easter dresses, but since I have two older sisters, I'm willing to bet that most of my Easter dresses were hand-me-downs.
My mom made all of my easter dresses growing up and I loved each and every one of them. She is keeping them for me until I have daughters of my own...or until I learn to sew properly. :)
Definitely the Rare Editions Colorblock Dress reminds me most of my easter frock from years past. Although my dresses were always pretty much all white lace with some sort of pastel bow, and of course a new pair of black mary jane shoes (that always seemed to pinch) and a matching purse, white gloves and a new Easter bonnet would always finish off the ensemble. Thanks for helping me take a walk down memory lane and Happy Easter to everyone!
My mom always made me a new dress for Easter also. Thanks for the chance to win.
I loved the lilac dress and matching coat my Mother got me when I was 6. When my daughter was little I made her a lilac print dress and matching solid lilac coat and we travelled back to Boston for Easter with my Mom! Mom couldn't believe I had such a wonderful memory. Thanks for letting me share.
My favorite is was 2yrs ago when I got my granddaughters matching dresses for EAster and this was one of my first LO's I scrapped.
Ah the memories....and it all comes flooding back..the Rainbow plaid looks like they took fabric from my youth, saved it, and then brought it back to sell. What's old is new, heh? You found some great stuff!
My favorite Easter dress wasn't one of my own, but the first Easter dress of our daughter. Little pastel polka dots. She loved it for being so little.
I actually don't remember getting Easter dresses...can I still get in on some pastel love from American Crafts???
My mom's favorite color was mauve. She made my 2 older sisters and I matching dresses that had mauve sleeves and a wildly printed body. These dresses were very cute, until my sisters outgrew theirs and got passed down to me year after year. It didn't take long for me to hate this dress...I'll never, ever forget it!
The best memory of Easter besides the Easter baskets, was getting our Easter dresses. My mom made each of us girls one. Which was quite a feat considering there are 4 girls. I would make dresses for my 2 girls, but it just isn't economical anymore.
I remember the first Easter I had with my new step-mother's family when I was 10. I grew up hunting Easter eggs filled with sweet goodies. Well it was a huge shock when I went to open the eggs from her family's Easter hunting adventure to find cash! Yes that's right...nickel's, dimes, quarters, and even dollar bills. Of course we were showered with candies and sweet later but at 10 years old I was super excited to have $$ to spend all on my own!
We've never really practiced Easter in Asia. I just remember people not allowed to eat or bathe 'til 6pm on a Good Friday.
So, now that I live in Canada & have 2 sons, obviously, I can't sew dresses for them but sure can make it something fun & memorable for them! These dresses makes me want to have a daughter!!! Aw!
My Grandma always bought me a little straw purse.I specifically recall one that was white wicker with yellow flowers on it.
Do bonnets count? My mother would make bonnets to go with our Easter dresses! I have some great photos of bright sunny Easter days with my sister and I in matching bonnets!
Easter was one holiday that I got a new "frilly" dress as a girl. During the rehearsal for my sister's wedding (I was the Maid of Honor), my pastor explained to everyone there that his first memory of my sister and I as a little girl at church was one Easter that we decided to kartwheel across the church lawn in a frilly Easter dresses (with ruffled panties showing to everyone)!! I think I was 5 years old.
I always had a new easter dress with new hair ribbons and shoes. Every year it was white or pink or yellow. lol. And a bonnet. I love all the dresses you showed in your post, very cute!
My mom used to make a new dress for me every year too! We recently found a couple of them. I've washed them and plan to put my daughter in a couple of them!
Alas, I have three boys and don't get to purchase these pretty frocks, boo hoo. My most favoritest Easter dress was yellow with tiny white pinstripes. It was made of layers of gauzy cotton fabric that came to my knees, had long white puffy sleeves and a little white apron trimmed in lace. *Sigh* I loved that dress. I believe I was 6 or 7.
I have no particular story in mind, but I loved all my Easter dresses (although non was as cute as the ones you showed us in today's blog). I was excited and hopped around like a Easter bunny when it was time to dress up for the Easter service :-)
My favorite Easter dress memory is my daughter wearing a yellow polka dot Easter dress that I wore when I was little. It brought back so many memories from my childhood and it was great to pass down the tradition.
I remember my mother sewing matching dresses for her and I for Easter. They were purple with white collars. We both wore white hats and white gloves with the dress when we went to church. Wow, that was a long time ago.
my easter dress story is just that my daughter got a really beautiful dress for my sister-in-law's wedding, and my mother-in-law sent it early so that she could wear it for easter. it was silk and i made matching bows for the dress. i think she can still wear it now, but she looked like such a princess.
My fave is: Bonnie Jean Graduated-Dot Shantung Dress
They are beautiful, though! Happy Friday!
B
I don't know about a specific Easter dress memory but I know that I miss dressing my daughter in those beautiful little girl dresses! She is 13 now and a pretty little Easter dress at 13 is out of the question... it's all about skinny jeans and t-shirts now.
Thanks for the op to win

darn spammers! lol
Having JUST bought my children's Easter outfits this morning, I found this blog post to be rather timely...
I was a tomboy to the core as a child, but when Easter rolled around, boy, did I dress up! Sure, I had a boy's haircut, skinned knees and perpetually chewed fingernails, but I thought I was SUMPTHIN'! LOL! I miss the days of picking out cute sailor dresses for my daughter....todays choice involved hot pink and animal print.... *SIGH* Why do we let them develop minds of their own? LOL!
~Heather
I always loved my Easter hat more than anything. My sister and I were always decked out with our new hat for church. Have a great weekend!
My mother will probably be horrified at me, but I don't remember if she dressed us up or not for Easter...I'm sure she did!! The fun part is that now I have a daughter (she's almost 3 months old) and I have bought *ahem* 3 Easter outfits for her...maybe she'll be like Beyonce and have "costume changes" throughout the day :)
My favorite "dress" memory is of my daughter when she was three. She wore a total ensemble from Gymboree (given to us) with the dress, shoes, tights, hat, and even a mathching coat....CUTE!
I think the Ribbon Party Dress reminds of the ones my Mom used to buy me and my 2 sisters. We would always dress the same! Sigh....the lovely memories!! Thanks ;)
my favorite memory of easter was when my siblings and i had to hunt for our easter baskets that were hidden in the house somewhere. I don't remember any particular dress that i wore, but i know i was the best dressed gal around! ;) not to mention those adorable (horrible for a ME!) bonnets!
When my girls were younger I always sponge rolled their hair the night before Easter so they would be beautiful in their new Easter dress!
I remember one Easter my Mom dressed me and my sis alike. we wore pink plaid outfits and a pink bonnet. we alos had a purse and black patent leather shoes and white socks. i loved being dressed up. but I did not like the elastic on the bonnet. :) I thankyou for the chance to win some goodies. I love PINK!
I remember my Easter dresses had lots of frills and lace and always came with matching purse and gloves.
I never wore dresses as a little girl but I remember that my mom and her friends would hide lots of chocolate eggs in the back yard for all us kids to find.
Mine isn't exactly an Easter dress story. Mine involves my brand new Easter shoes. I was wearing them outside one day (I was probably 9-10) when my mom wasn't home and I fell into a huge puddle and got completely head to toe soaked and ruined my shoes! I was so afraid my mom would freak. She handled it in true mom fashion...I was grounded for a week!
My fave Easter ememorie is when my daughter was 3. We went to the woods that I used to play in as a kid. We hid loads of eggs, bunnies, and toys. Then with our friends we had an Easter parade to the woods. When we got there all the kids ran through the woods collecting all sorts of magical treats. It was pure magic!

i remember getting new easter dresses every year as a kid, and i always wanted my dress to somewhat match my older cousins dress (we were like sisters). now i get dresses for my daughter, its so fun shopping for her easter dress!
Oooh! All those pretty dresses make me want to go shopping for my little girl. In fact I just bought that first one from Gymboree and am waiting for it to arrive.
I don't remember having pretty Easter dresses as a little girl although I'm sure I would have loved them. I love dressing my daughter and two sons in coordinating Easter outfits. They all look so stinking cute!
I LOVE Easter dresses! In fact, your blog has inspired me to go shop for one for myself. I rarely buy any clothes because I wear a uniform to work (and outside of work I spend my time stamping!) I have my standard church clothes, but now I'm going to spruce it up for Easter! Thanks for the encouragement. Growing up, I always had a new Easter dress and beautiful black-patent (sp?) shoes. It was GREAT! Easter blessings to you and your readers.
I know I always wore dresses for church, no matter what Sunday it was. But I'm almost certain I wore a new one on Easter Sunday. My favorite memories is one Easter it snowed and my mom & aunt hid our eggs outside in the snow.
Easter dresses weren't a thing in my family, but I do remember watching EASTER PARADE the movie with Fred Astaire and Judy Garland every year growing up.
Oh my gosh.. I AM LOVING all those dresses my DD is 2 right now and I want all of those! Ok sorry went left field there.. LOL.. lets see my fav. dress for Easter I remembr was when I was 9 years old it was a soft yellow I remember my granddad took me to Macy's to pick a dress it was my first time going to Macy's and I remember walking thorugh the door and all the perfumes and all the people and going on up on the elevator and when it opened up.. WOW.. all these dresses colors it was AWESOME.. but there in a group of pastel greens, pinks purples was this dress and I went to it but it was a size 14.. I am not one for yellow bu I liked it because it was so pretty with soft flowers on the waist :) then I turned around and saw my grandfather next to a row of that dress! I WAS SOO Excited because in his hand he had my size! Then we went and got pretty cotton gloves that had little buttons on it and a hat to match.. I remember when Easter came I didn't even want to sit down because I didn't want to get dirty! lol.. Hmm I wish I would have kept it.. sigh.. :)How do I know that story so well because my Granddaddy tells it EVERY year! lol
Empire waists are a fav of mine, so Floral Print Empire Dress for Baby is my final answer :)
My Mom used to always make new matching Easter dresses for my sister and me, and would often make one of coordinating fabric for herself too. I haven't been able to resist doing the same for my two girls! Here's a layout with a photo of my girls in their matching dresses from a couple years ago - I love this photo!
http://www.apeekintoyesterday.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10810&ppuser=9
I'll take one of each dress for my 4 yr old please! LOL. They are all so darn cute. I've been shopping around for easter dresses for Abbi for a while and there are so many cute ones out there, I just can't choose!
I don't so much remember specific dresses as I do the shoes and hats. The shoes were white patent leather (which I tried desperately not to scuff), and those darn hats always had the elastic band that went under the chin--so uncomfortable!
Those dresses are so cute and sweet. I don't celebrate Easter, but one of my favorite dresses growing up was the flower girl dress that I wore to my uncle's wedding. My mother still has it to this day.
My grandmother used to see fancy designs in department stores like Ralph Lauren. She would remember them, make a pattern, and remake the dress for me. So gorgeous! I remember a pastel plaid one she made for me one Easter. Such a pretty dress!
My grandmother would make identical or very similar dresses for my older sister and me. I always got to wear the "dress" twice - once as my own and then next year, my sister's. I didn't mind because they were very nice dresses.
I do remember one Easter morning waking up and finding the most gorgeous frilly duster on each of our beds. I have 2 sisters and they were so all pretty. Not quite a favorite dress but we loved them just the same. Ok some might not know that a duster back then was sort of like a robe.
thanks much
I would have to say that my favorite Easter Dress memory is last year when my two little girls wore the same dress! White with pink tulips around the bottom! I have have a picture where they are so happy and giving each other a huge hug!!! So precious!!
All of these dresses are adorable. My favorite easter outfit was not so much the dress. I begged and begged my mother for a zebra striped trench coat for easter. I adored that coat and wouldn't take it off when we went to my Aunt's for dinner. I was probably 13 or 14 at the time and thought I was so grown up in that coat.
When I was about 5-6, my mom made me and her matching peach colored easter dresses complete with hats! Looking back they are so silly (especially with the matching Dorothy Hamill haircuts), but what a memory I still have. As a matter of fact I am thinking of how I can scrap that photo right now! Anyone have any peach lace- to match the doily collar from my outer matching jacket?
Our neighbor used to make dresses my two sisters and me. I loved the silky fabrics and the Easter hats. For some reason, I always picked a pattern with a square bib on it, like a sailor's uniform. Thanks for the chance to win!
We only went clothes shopping twice a year growing up...just before school started and then again especially for our Easter outfits. My favorite dress was all white with an over skirt of lacy white eyelet material. I still love that kind of material! And of course we had to choose an easter hat (white with a yellow ribbon) Easter shoes (white patent leather) and a basket weave white purse with bakelite handles. Now picture a little redheaded girl with all of this riding on a carousel horse merry go round. That was me! What a great memory :)
Thanks!
Kim Marie
I remember my sister had this beautiful purple skirt that she got for Easter. I really loved it and eventually, when I got older, it was passed down to me :)
The first dress I bought for my little girl's first Easter was a mini Prom dress! She looked like she was going to prom with her little white shoes with a little heel! What a sweet memory!!
I remember when I was little - mom always dressed my sister and I in matching dresses with hats. When my daughter was younger, I always dressed her in a special dress for Easter.
My favorite dress memory was in 1985.. I was ten.
My Mom married my Step Dad on Easter Sunday that year and I was my Mom's bridesmaid. We lived in South GA and it was pretty warm already so I wore a pretty
light pink sundress that was lacy.. So pretty. But I won't lie.. I was a major tomboy and wasn't too happy to be in that dress, LOL.
And my shoes were pearl white jelly shoes.. Remember those? Oh how they hurt my feet but they were the trend back then, LOL.
My favorite Easter dress was a picture I have of when I was 3 years old wearing a beautiful chiffon yellow dress wih my mary janes, handbag and hat :)
I didn't have Easter dresses but have enjoyed special outfits for my dd. They were never fancy but cute.
My funny memory is actually during Easter photos that my dad was taking. I was the tallest and oldest and he wanted me closer to my brothers' height. He told me to pretend I was sitting, so I did. Mom and I were looking at those photos last year and thinking just how ODD it was that I was standing up, squatted a bit. LOL, my dad thought it looked good.
looove the Bonnie Jean dot print dress! The colors are fantastic and the layout is so cute! Thanks for sharing these inspirational dresses!
When I was about 7 or so my mom made matching dresses for my sister and I. They were white tafetta-like with pastel polka dots. I love the picture she has of us in those matching dresses.
I always loved getting dressed up. So I preferred a dress that "twirled" - one with a full skirt! And I liked the underwear with the lace ruffles, and then the best part after easter was when I was going to grow out of my patent leather shoes soon, Mom would let me wear them ALL the time!!! I was in 7th heaven!!
While I don't remember Easter dresses, I do remember going every year to the local Ben Franklin and seeing the same lady to pick out Easter hats. We then wore the hats to church the rest of the summer.
Robbie
OH, those dresses are just darling!~ My mom used to make my sister and I the same exact dress...the one I remember was PINK! Pink collar, pink buttons, pink ruffles, everything pink and then we wore white gloves had little white purses, and brand new white socks with new black patent leather shoes! Thanks for the recollection of memories!
My mom sewed us dresses when we were young (5 girls in my family). I remember when I was 5 we went to Disneyland and I was wearing my new Easter dress and so worried I would get it wet on the Matterhorn and she would get mad. The funny things we remember!
My mom usually let me pick out a new dress. But I was the only girl of four. Now, I have three girls but DH doesn't think three new dresses every year is so great! :)
I have three boys, and let me just say dressing them for Easter is not anywhere near as much fun as it is to dress a little girl!
My little girl had the most adorable little easter dress with embroidered birdies from Gymboree. I think I cried when she finally out grew it.
I remember the pictures of my sister and I in our Easter dresses with our little hats and gloves. I don't have the pictures any longer due to a house fire when I was a teen but I'll always remember how cute we looked.
My kids are 23 and 19 and still look forward to thier Easter baskets. I have been a single parent all along and my extended family is tiny so I always felt I had to make a big deal of all holidays. Easter was as big as Christmas in our house. I incorporated thier spring/summer clothes , bathing suits, shoes and anything else they had to have around this time of year into thier Easter. They didn't get just a basket, they got a basket plus thier Easter outfits/shoes, thier spring/summer wardrobe and some toys. They had no idea what thier Easter clothes looked like til the Easter bunny brought them. They were always so surprised and so happy. We didn't have arguments about the clothes because it was from the Easter bunny. After church we had a Christmas type meal with a turkey and then we hunted eggs. My kids have wonderful memories of Easter. As they got older the Easter bunny quit bringing clothes and we had to start shopping together and more than once i heard them say how much they liked it when the Easter bunny brought thier Easter clothes. ms.cheryl
Well my most memorable easter was when my sister was "putting the final touches on" my and my other sister in the bathroom right before easter Sunday mass. She took the old powder clorox and dusted our heads with it. there are 5 of us - 2 older girls then 7, 6, 4 and the twins 2. I thought my mom was going to kill my sister. Problem was, there wasn't enough time, we had to get to mass. She cleaned off our heads and shoulders and off to mass we went, smelling like bleach and all. Oh the memories. And yes we all had on hand made dressies tha mom made. ~ Jennine
Actually in Spain we do not put something extraordinary in easter. And a years before I was living in France and is the same ... I only remember that on sunday we have to put white sockets.
Lot of sunny kiss

Ahhh, good memories, thanks for reminding me! I have red hair and my mom always dressed me in a green dress for Easter because it went so well with my hair! One year I begged for a change and got a yellow dress, I was so excited! lol! Thanks again!
I remember my sister and I always being in the same dresses. I loved when I got to pick out a dress, and a matching bonnet :)
I was a tom boy...no dresses thank you very much! But that is why I now have a 4 year old daughter who insists that her dress be pink with hearts!
I remember the dresses made by our mother for my sister and I. They were made of the wedding dress of my mother !! It was fun because we were like brides ahaahahaha !
Last year was a fave, my 3 girls wore matching floral pastel print dresses. On Easter, we had lunch at the end of our O'side Pier. The picks of them with the ocean and the vintage feel of the wooden planks on the pier made great photos shots and classic lasting memories.
All beautiful dresses!! I remember an Easter about 3-4 years ago when we were visiting my brother in GA. I crazily decided to make (& hand smock) dresses for my 2 girls and my 2 nieces . . . They turned out beautiful but I spent the night before our trip hemming dresses with my mom! :)
My Mom was an expert seamstress so I was lucky enough to have some beautiful hand-sewn originals! Since my Mom could sew, my sisters and I never had to learn a thing...so I am seriously deficient in the sewing dept...the most I do is paper-piercing some holes and sewing buttons on cardstock!
I love dressing myself and my girls all the same. Although it is hard to find the same things with such a wide age range.
My mom would always dress my sister and I alike, even though we are two years apart in age!! I loved buying and wearing a new dress for Easter!
My grandma always made my sisters and I dresses for Christmas, Easter & even Independance day. One year she made me a dress that was pink and yellow, with flowers and music notes. I think that one was my favorite! =)
My mom didn't sew that often, but once made my older sister and I these cute little dresses. Unfortunately it took her longer than she'd hoped to make them, and my sister's ended up being quite short! My mother insisted she still wear it and we have these terrific pictures of me in my perfect dress & my sis with the biggest scowl on her face wearing hers - I think she was about 8 at the time!
I was quite a tomboy when I was little so I don't remember my mother ever being able to get me into a frilly dress and God only blessed my with a boy so when my sister had her first girl I went out and bought her the cutest Easter dress (with matching hat of course) that I could find.
I just want to set the record straight about my daughter's comment on not remembering having an Easter Dress!! She most certainly DID and I have the picture to prove it! She may have forgotten because I made her wear the funniest Easter HAT! which she didn't like lol!!
When I was little my mom used to sew my dresses, but I always chose the fabric, LOL. Now I am a mom and I sew too, but in my cards, but my daughter always loves dresses. I love all the dresses you have posted, DD actually has 1 of them from Old Navy.
God bless
Giovana
Easter was always a huge holiday in my family growing up. My mom would gussy us up in fluffy dresses, hats and all the bells and whistles! I used to love how the dress sounded when I would walk in it...kind of like Runaway Bride...swish swish. :) I just had a baby girl...and I can't WAIT to dress her up in fun dresses!

I get my girls dresses each year, and even if here in Michigan the weather is usually very cold at Easter, we always end up with sleveless dresses that would be better suited for July! Any outdoor photos usually have the kids all egg hunting in frilly dresses and winter coats:)
These dresses are all adorable!! I love putting my girls in dresses... so long as they sit like 'ladies'.. LOL!!! ;) My fave is the Bonnie Jean Dot-Print Dress! Adorable & fun!!
I always loved to get a new Easter dress as well! My grandparents would always buy them for my sister and I, until I was about 11 or 12 when they bought this pink, lace-y, chiffon-y dress that was sooo not me at that age. I made my mom promise to buy (and let me help pick out) my dress after that. I still enjoy buying myself a new dress every Easter and am now buying outfits for my children as well. Some great memories recalled tonight from my past Easter holidays... :-)
I love dressing my girls in matching outfits...this year will be yellow...
i remember growing up that we always went shopping right before Easter for a new outfit--from head to toe, not just the dress, but new socks, white shoes, gloves and a matching purse and HAT!!!
I can SO relate to your Easter dress memories! And remember the matching bonnets for real little girls? One of my favorite pix of my daughter (who is now grown) is of her in a darling little pink Easter dress with a pink and white bonnet!
My mom would always make a dress for me with the same material as hers. The idea was cute, and my mom has great sewing talent, but I would always throw a huge fit when I had to wear the dresses. I remember something about them being too "itchy". I probably was just trying to be difficult. Haha.
The most beautiful dress I ever owned as a child was one that had been purchased as an 'Easter Dress'. Pale blue on top, white on the bottom, with the most delicate little blue 3-D roses sewn all around the bottom. Of course, there was a matching white straw hat, with matching blue rosebuds, a new tiny purse, white cotton socks with lacey trim, white patent mary-janes, and the final touch...white gloves. I was only three, but I remember feeling like the most beautiful princess in the world when I wore it.
I don't have a memory from an Easter Dress, but I do remember a couple of favorite dresses that I had as a little girl. Don't know why they were favorites, but I love looking at old pictures. And no daughters for me.
My favorite memories are my mom's obession with the Easter hat, and we both ALWAYS wore hats and gloves on Easter along with out corsages!
Honestly, Easter memories revolve around egg hunts. Everything we wore were hand-me-downs and new dresses were normally reserved for Christmas. I am the proud mom of two boys so all that *need* to dress up little girls goes to my younger sister who has been blessed with a boy and two sweet girls. I just recently bought them a couple of sweet dresses and can't wait to see the pictures!!
I still have a picture framed on my mantel of my sister and I in matching Easter dresses/bonnets- I'm about 4 and she's about 2. There's this sweet look of pure adoration on her face as she's looking up at me!
ooooooo Love the pastel dresses and you are so right--have many memories of my Mom, sister and I in new dresses plus sometimes, new hats too. Oh my! dating myself! LOL! :) My fave picture was my mom in a new dress AND her new pastel blue coat with matching pill box hat a-la Jackie Kennedy.....well,it was the 60's!
so gorgeous! The colours are like icecream and candy!
I remember always having a frilly dress with matching hat, gloves, tights and shoes and some years even a parasol!
My Mom always made my Easter dresses, also, and they were always
so special, but my favorite memory
was the Easter hats. I loved those
precious hats, and still love them!
Easter was always one of my favorite holidays. Thanks! Diane
I don't really have one, but this dress is cute - Flower Tank Dress
My Easter dress memory is that my grandma, who has now passed on, made all of my Easter (and birthday) dresses when I was little. They were beautiful!
I remember my mom making matching dresses for me, my sister and her for Easter when we were little girls!
Oh those dresses are just too cute! I guess I don't have a specific memory of Easter dresses however, i do remember that my mom always dressed me to the nines for Easter. I always had an Easter bonnet and pretty dress!
As the oldest of five most of our clothes were hand-me-downs from older cousins or hand sewn by my grandmother. Today I have an appreciation for the ways our parents provided when funds were few. However back then, a cherished memory is my first store-bought Easter dress--a navy blus organza with a fluffy petticoat. I was so excited to go to Sunday School in that dress.
My brother, sister and I always got new fancy church outfits for Easter. Now that, I'm grown and have a daughter and son, I do the same, except I try really hard to coordinate their outfits. There is something so special about a fancy Easter outfit to wear to church and going on an egg hunt.
One of my favorite memories, was one Easter getting all dressed up with my children and husband, going to a nice Easter brunch dowtown Charleston, SC and then having a photo shoot in the streets.
When we (my 2 sisters and I)were little my mom make dresses for us for easter. Same fabric and same pattern. All three of us will be a good representation of Small, Medium and Large sizes. lol.
I like this post really very informative for fashion lover I love that dress
The ankle boots are the most popular ladies shoes in this category which can be worn under trousers. The ankle boots are now more worn with jeans and skirts though pants is also another option.
