Stamp It! Week: Celebrating Some Moxie Fab Designers

1,647.

Depending on what you're referring to, that's either a really big or a really small number. It's small if it's the number of scoops of ice cream served in New York City on any given day.

It's big if you're referring to the number of pages in a book you've settled in to read.

It's really big if it's the number of submissions we got for Stamp It! Cards. Record-breaking, in fact.

For it's no mystery, the strength of this issue lies in the quality of its submissions. And there's loads o' that, my friends. In fact, our submissions judging lasted much longer than what we had scheduled because the decisions we had to make were a-g-o-n-i-z-i-n-g. So much good stuff to choose from, so relatively little room.

So today in the Moxie Fab World, I'd like to celebrate everyone who submitted some amazing stamped cards and made it into this stamperific special issue time and time again. Some, like Maren Benedict, had never been published with us before. Others, like Kim Kesti and Teri Anderson, are tried-and-true favorites. But all are part of the Paper Crafts family, just like you and me and everyone who submits and all the good folks who subscribe and the impluse buyers who are drawn in by our covers on the newsstand. And whether you participate more in print or online through blogs like this one, we're all connected through our love of this craft, the joy we find in the gift of a handmade card.

We call it grass roots. And we encourage you to play along.

Today I've got a grass roots gift just for you. I've asked 10 of the most-published designers from Stamp It! Cards to create a never-seen-before, ultra original, stamped cards just for you. Check out these lovelies, for we are all...

Birds of a Feather by Kim Kesti

I'd like to say this to all of you:

Thanks a Million by Melissa Phillips
Deep down we're all...

Mommy's Little Girl by Jen del Muro

You are, in my opinion...

Absolutely Fabulous by Dawn McVey

...as long as you hang on to the

Dream by Maren Benedict

...and celebrate life

In the Numbers Birthday Card by Teri Anderson

...without forgetting the simple things

Hello Card by Debbie Olson

...always making time to

Create Card by Julia Stainton

...and send a lot of this:

Big Time Love Card by Angie Hagist

But most of all, I want you to know that this is what I think of you in my heart:

You're a True Friend Card by Natasha Trupp

For without you, the Moxie Fab World would not be quite so moxie fab!

There's nothing quite like the gift of sending a handmade card and all of these ladies and I are just thrilled to be sending them on their way to you. Leave a comment by Sunday, March 22 at midnight MST about what you love about this hobby, the joy you feel when you make a handmade card, who you love to give handmade cards to the most, what you love about stamping, or which of these cards makes you the happiest and why, and I'll draw a random winner to win all 10 of these signed, original cards.

Enjoying Stamp It! Week, friends? There's still lots more to come including Part II of the Stamps Galore Giveaway tomorrow. And over on the Paper Crafts blog, Paper Crafts Pro Alisa Bangerter is talking about how to work with dye ink sprays--one of the techniques featured in our Stamp It! Week Challenge. (And she's giving away some prizes--so click on over!)

Thanks for being my friend,

~Cath

T'riffic cards, all - TFS and thanx for the blog candy opp! I love creating small projects - whether needlepoint or stamping - so cards are a perfect fit! They're quicker than scrapbooks and my recipients seem genuinely pleased to be on the receiving end!

WOW...These are beautiful. I love Natasha Trupps card. That PTI stamp set is my favorite. I love the fact that I can make different cards the "fit" the recipients, and they appreciate getting a handmade card. I love how it feels to give handmade cards and gifts.

All of these cards are just beautiful. These women just have so much talent and I am grateful for all of the inspiration they offer each time they put one of their creation out there.

Eveline said...

Great cards by very creative people.
I like the pleasure I feel when I sit down in my craftroom, surrounded by my paper, stamps and inks. I do not have a very creative mind and I like to work with sketches but it gives me tons of satisfaction to make a card or scrapbook page.
Eveline.

I love Dawn and Natasha's cards. I love to make cards b/c their are like a small canvas. Scrapbooking, although I do, for family history is so daunting sometimes. I love to make cards for my Grandmother who is 92! She can't get out as much so it truly helps her stay in touch with her friends.

These cards are all so amazing! Especially love the colors and different patterns in Dawn's card. I just made a card for my Grandmother's 90th birthday and she was so excited to receive it...warms my heart!

Angy said...

Wow! Love those cards ~ especially Dawn's as I am a huge PTI fan. I love stamping. I love creating one of a kind gifts for others. I love taking the time to send a smile to someone by sending a homemade card. Plus, it is almost immediate gratification. I can sit down and within a relatively short amount of time (not counting stamper's block) I can have a card or gift created and ready to send. Not so with other crafts I enjoy like cross-stitching, quilting etc.

donna calamari said...

The showcased cards are all beautiful! I fell in love with cardmaking from my first stamping lesson. It gives me so much pleasure to create something pretty. I particularly love packaging up a group of cards and giving it as a gift.

I love making cards for others since it is a little way to show them how I am thinking about them not only by sending them a card but by making them that particular card. All the cards posted are gorgeous and the lucky winner will surely appreciate it all.

so nice to see all of these originals in one place. And how clever of you to connect them all that way.

My favorite thing about making cards is the feeling when it is done, everything matches, is cut and put into place. i crave the feeling of completeness. ah, bliss. Oh, it's also cool when your husband sells a bunch at his work. :}

Thanks again for the great post and selection.

My favorite person to send cards to is my Grandma. She raves about them, literally, until the next holiday when she gets her next card. I'm flattered, but I don't exactly send the most labor intensive, detailed cards... just a thought. I love to send to her because I know it means so much to her. :)

I love this craft because you get to meet so many amazing people. I love the smell of stamps and ink and the sound of a stamp being pulled from the paper and the crisp image that is left behind. I love seeing inspiration in everything around me and having the chance to apply it to something I can give to a loved one. I love thinking of the person I am creating for and hoping they will like it. I just love everything about it! I must, since I just can't pull myself away!

Well I'm relatively new to the stamping and cardmaking world, but I really love the sense of accomplishment I get when I finish a card. Each one is like it's own little work of art, and giving that away makes me feel good!

It's a way of expressing yourself and in my case it's therapy!!! With 3 kids this hobby allows me to recharge my batteries.

I love to make cards for my family. I make and send a card to each member of the family for their B-days each year. I usually end up sending between 4-6 cards a month. My favorite person to send it to is a friend I made on line, who also makes cards and we exchange them. I so love getting her card each holiday. I always save the homemade cards. They are my favorite.

These are all beautiful cards. I love paper crafting because I find it relaxing a good way to unwind at the end of the day. Even if all I do is clean up my area, being around my toys is enough to make me happy!

All of the cards a fabulous. What makes me happy about stamping is that I can create from my own imagination and not have to worry that I am in my own world. My favorite person in the world to give cards to was my Mother. She passed away in Nov. 2008. She would adore my cards and call me each time she received one to tell me how pretty or cute they were. She saved each and every one of them.

Thanks for the chance to win. Alice R.

I love this hobby because it is so different from my "real" job. I love to create and use color and positive thoughts and sweet sentiments and fun little extras. It is just a joy to work on the craft.

What a fabulous giveaway! Thanks so much for the chance to win!

Ally said...

All such beautiful cards today! I love that giving a homemade card feels like there is so much "more" feeling attached to it. And the creating process is pretty fun too!

Dana said...

Most of my handmade cards end up going to my mom. She's the person who origially inspired me as a child. She used to FORCE me to make cards for my family on all holidays (and I dreaded doing it too!). She laughs every time I send her one becasue she remembers how I would whine and complain as a child about having to do it! But, obviously, I adore it now and have made quite a hobby out of it! (Thanks mom). The satisfaction of creating a small work of art tailored to a specific person is why I do what I do. It makes ME feel good, and I know it will make the recipiant feel good too.

Ashlea said...

I love the idea of creating something unique and special, and that the recipient KNOWS that you took the extra time to make them something instead of just going out and buying it. I'm not that crafty, so when someone does get something hand made from me, they know that I put effort into it. Thanks for the chance at winning all of those beautiful cards!!!

I love to stamp cards to send or give away to special people in my life. All too often, before I made my own cards, if someone came to mind, I wondered how they were, but I didn't do anything about it. Now, I go to my craft room, pull out C/S, stamps, paper and inks, and I make a card - whether a "Hello" kind of card or "Thanks a Million" or "You're a True Friend" - and because I made it, the recipients know that I truly care about them!

Holy Moly-all 10?! Cardmaking, creating anything for that matter, is my therapy. It just feels good. And it feels really good when the recipient truly appreciates the effort you put into a card for them. Most of my handmade cards go to family members...I have A LOT! They look forward to receiving them as much as I love to send them! There is an endless supply of inspiration among stampers and an endless supply of products to create with. Every day is a new idea to look forward to! I don't think I could possibly pick my favorite of these ten...they are all fabulous! I can't pick one, I just can't!

What I love most about my stamping hobby is the 'WOW' factor when someone opens a card or unwraps a project that I made especially for them. My FIL passed away in August and every year for his birthday (which was in November) he'd tell my MIL - I wonder what type of card T is making for me this year! He always called me up to thank me for taking the time to make him a special card and he showed them off to his friends. Those are the simple reward that make this hobby (addiction) so special.

There is nothing more satisfying than sense of gratitude I receive from someone after they realize thay I made a card by hand for them. These cards are all fabulous and the designers have outdone themselves (again!)

It would be a real treat to get this collection!

today I sat and made a complicated harmonica card for my friend Lindsey who is having a rough time at the moment. It took me a day to make, but the thought and love that went into it, and the sentiments I stamped on it, will go to show her that she is in my thoughts and that I think of her even though we live in different countries and haven't seen one another for a while. My scrapping joy is being sent to a dear friend, and that is what I love about creating something with my own hands and heart, uniquely for my friends and family. I get to share this with them. x

Most of the time I find stamping and card making to be relaxing BUT there are exceptions to this of course. There are times that I feel I've hit a brick wall and lack creativity. I absolutely love sharing my creations with my mother....she's my biggest fan. She adores most everything I do. She even claims to be stingy and not use them because they're too good to give away. Hee Hee! Thanks Mom...you're the best!
My favorite of these cards has got to be the peacock. I've always been fascinated with peacocks.

There are many things I love about this hobby, but one of the most meaningful is the people you meet and share your passion with! Such a warm and fun group of people who you can actually learn more things than just tips and techniques about stamping. You end up sharing portions of your life with each other and finding connections you might otherwise not have found!

Thank you to all of the super creative people for sharing your ideas and talent on the internet! I don't get to stamp as much as I'd like, but it is nice to take a 5-10 minute break and look at some of your projects and get inspired or learn a new technique. Thanks,

What beautiful cards! I love to see the creativity!

I have made so many wonderful friends through stamping. We go away for weekends about four times a year. It may be to a convention of some sort or just to a local hotel to stamp together all weekend. Without this hobby, I would not have met my very best friends!

Not having an artistic bone in my body but still wanting to create, stamping cards gives me the opportunity to use the artistry of others (in the form of stamps). Handmade cards offer a personal touch to recipients. I keep doing it because of an aunt who says she is going to frame every card she's received from me!

Is it weird to say I like the sincerity of handmade cards? They seem to have that personal touch that says, "I really mean this." Finding just the right sentiment and combining it with just the right papers and embellishments, and then mixing it up a bit to have something totally new is great fun. Thanks for the chance to win these inspirational designs.

I love stamping because it lets me be as creative as I want to be! There's a stamp, color combo, paper set, or embellishment for whatever mood I'm in.

I love to make cards for our congregation--get well, thinking of you, celebration, etc. A beautiful handmade card with a loving handwritten note is something most people don't get these days; and I'm glad to supply!
