I'm Dreaming in Yellow & Gray

Of all the color combinations that have graced the runway of late--to me, this one is the most intriguing.

Polar opposites: cheery yellow and intense gray.

And perhaps exactly because they come diametrically opposed--I will admit an infatuation.

After all, opposites do attract.

So infatuated that I decided that yellow and gray projects would be perfect for the March/April 2009 Moxie Fabs column.

Look at this "fab" little number from trendy card maker Teri Anderson using Moda Bella papers from American Crafts:

And this beautiful bird mobile using the K&Company Lotus Collection from Amy Butler by Celeste Rockwood-Jones:

...not to mention Kim Kesti's super cute gift bag using the Offbeat collection from BasicGrey:

(For more moxie fab yellow and gray projects, go to pages 24-26)

I mean, this color combo is rich and fun at the same time. Check it:

From Anthropologie:

Natural Sunlight Dress

White Pasque Tank

From Urban Outfitters:

Russian Cross Tapestry

From Ann Taylor:

Oval Handle Tote

Sequined Sweater Tank & Margo Faux Denim Pants

From Etsy:

PKT Bubble Notebook from Chikabird

Phew! That's one wonderful dream!

I am happy to say I was moxie fab before I knew it! I knit a baby sweater for my daughter in 1985 using Pingouin's Pingorex Baby Fantasie color 501 (which is white with yellow & gray flecks) It was beautiful, I only wish I had a picture.

Just wondering if we are limited to one project for this challenge? I'm so inspired I have two things I'm going to make. Do I need to choose just one? LOL. That will be tough. Thanks for a great blog!

Hi Ladies,
I'm glad that you're having so much fun with this challenge! I do think it's a combo that grows on you, but once it settles in your brain, it feels really nice.

Thespa, you absolutely can submit more than one project to the challenge. Upload your heart out!

Good luck, and I can't wait to see all of your projects!

Okie Dokie, Here's a link to the post on my blog Gruvi Things Gallery, for the Yellow and Gray Challenge. http://gruvithings.blogspot.com/2009/02/yellow-and-gray-challenge-for-moxie-fab.html
(I had trouble uploading photos to post to the group so hopefully I'm doing this right) What a fun and very challenging challenge for me. Thanks!

Ok, this has been way too much fun! You were right when you said this color combo really grows on you. I haven't had this much yellow in my brain since high school when I learned to play The Beatles Yellow Submarine song on guitar, LOL. That was stuck in there for a while. And no I'm not really from that era, I was just born after my time, LOL. So here is another project I made for the challenge. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Check it out here!
