It never hurts to have a good s-t-r-e-t-c-h every now and then, does it now? I'm glad you had such a good time with this one!
Bethany Paull:
I love the classic look of this card paired with the whimsy in the patterned paper at the bottom. I also like that Bethany has added an additional neutral color to our color combo--cream--but kept it consistently balanced throughout. Moxie fab!
On this card, I love that yellow is the star of the show and that she has allowed the gray to be simply an accent color. There is a softness to its geometrical nature, and that is all achieved by the addition of the gray.
For me, this card is all about balance. Nothing is overdone. Color, design elements, and even texture are in perfect harmony with one another. I also love that she's used yellow as an accent color--just enough of it--so that the gray plays a strong supporting role underneath.
La vie est belle means "life is good" in French--and oh, la, la--this card is tres chic! I love the play on pattern (houndstooth mixed with fruit) as well as the play on shape (the familiar icon, the flower, even the birds.) This card has moxie because she has taken some risks by combining such different factions--and then pulled it off! Tres bien, mon amie! Tu as un coeur pour l'art, et aussi pour les couleurs jaune et gris, n'est-ce pas? (Translation: Very good, my friend! You have a heart for art, and also for the colors yellow and gray, isn't that right?)
Did your jaw just drop to the floor? Mine did the moment I saw this layout in the Moxie Fab World group. Here, the simplicity of the design, the beautiful photos, and the minimal but well-chosen words are all set off perfectly by the color combination. I can't think of a better application for this combo--and to think that it was just waiting for us all to give it a little try!
I'm so proud of all of you who gave this a go!
A hearty congratulations to the winners of our challenge. Ladies, send me your addresses with the challenge name in the subject line to cedvalson@ckmedia.com and I'll send you a bunch of stuff!
In the meantime, if you haven't left a comment here, there's still time to be entered to win either the Eva or Porcelain lines designed by Celeste Rockwood-Jones for BasicGrey. (I've got 2 sets of each!) Now that's a moxie fab way to start a weekend!
See you next week in the Moxie Fab World, my friends. Have a fantastic weekend, and rejoice in the fact that February is almost over! (Was that the sound of spring I just heard?)
Toodles!
~Cath
P.S. Itching for more challenging fun? There's a fun gallery challenge going on through Monday at the Paper Crafts website. Click here for all the lovey details (yes, that's a hint.)
