Five for Friday: A Spread of Bedspreads

If there's anything I've learned as an empty nester, it's that empty nests come with revolving doors. My husband and I have two daughters, ages 22 and 20. They both moved out of the house when it was time to go to college, but, like most kids who strike out on their own, they've come back to regroup. Nicole moved back in with us in August of last year, but moved out by the end of December. 28 little days later, Beccah moved in.

Thus, the revolving door.

Of course we are thrilled to provide a bit of sanctuary when it's needed, but I will admit to succombing to a certain "itch" to move in to the bedrooms they had vacated. You know, spread out a little. And wouldn't you know, the new paint was barely dry on the room we had decided to make a "dedicated" spare bedroom when the youngest decided it was time to come back to the fold.

But just because the "dedicated" guest room now has a semi-permanent resident, I don't see why we should stop the redecorating process--and I'm sure that Beccah would be the first to agree. So today, we're talking bedspreads.

We painted the dedicated guest bedroom a happy shade of orange, and though it's tempting to call it the "mac 'n cheese" room, or more likely, the "Kraft Dinner" room, it's not that bright of an orange. Of course, the only chance I had to take a pic of the walls was in the evening, so I had to use a flash. But I think you get the idea of what we're working with here:

It's an east-facing room with a large window, and it's a particularly beautiful space in the mornings. In fact, I think maybe we should start calling it the "morning room."

So today I decided to go shopping for said bedspread, and I wanted to know what you thought. Which of these beauties do you think would go best in this room? I'd love to hear what you think, and I'm willing to pay for it with a prize.

Neroli Quilt

Morning Glory Bedding

Bella Hothouse Bedding

Alhambra Bedding

Homespun Throw

From Urban Outfitters:

Sunshine Medallion Duvet Cover

Asian Poppy Tapestry

Fleur Patchwork Quilt

Pixel Crocheted Afghan

Birdcage Tapestry

Tea Garden Toile Quilt

Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt

Olivetta Owl Organic Duvet Cover

Jillian Patchwork Quilt

Scalloped Organic Quilt

And no matter what bedspread you choose, I'll take one of these to go with:

Basketweave Textured Throw

Me? I'm not kidding, I'd be happy with any of these in that room. I love the patchworky hominess of most and the bright palettes of all. But mostly I love how easy it was to come up with all these options because the color we chose is very versatile for today's trends. And since we are living in the Moxie Fab World here, price is no object so we can choose whatever we like.

Which of these do you prefer and why? Or do you need to give me your top 3? Whatever you choose, do it before Sunday at midnight MST and I'll select 3 random winners for a moxie fab prize.

Sounds like a great start to the weekend to me!

Cheers!

Wow ~ these are all gorgeous!

Here are my three choices / three different styles:
1. Classic: Tea Garden Toile quilt {I have never seen toile in orange, and am quite intrigued; although I'd probably be boring and go with more of a cream on cream toile and throw in some orange throw pillows; also good if you get sick of the orange walls!}
2. Shabby chic: Morning Glory bedding {reminds me of a quaint bed & breakfast, seems very welcoming for a guest bedroom}
3. Bold yet Natural: Asian Poppy Tapestry {I like the touch of bold orange, and the hint of nature}

Good luck with your decision Cath, you've found some delish pieces to choose from!!

Ok, I would go with the 'morning glory bedspread' and the crocheted throw. good Luck and happy shopping!

I suppose it would depend on what look to are try to acheive,
1. Homely look I would go for Spring Fling patchwork quilt, you can then mix with lots of other accent colours which are in the quilt.
2. Scalloped quilt for a more sutle look.
3. I love the poppies of the Asian poppy, which I think would look nice for a more contempery and modern look.

Good Luck, I'm sure whatever you choose the room will look great.

When my daughter left home it took me less than a day to take take over her wardrobe space.

Betty said...

The Jillian Patchwork quilt because of the "other" colors involved. Patchwork quilts are just soooooo inviting and interesting! (Love the orange, btw!) Thanks!

Kelley said...

Okay, I definitely love the asian poppy.. I was going to go with the owl but, it's a little too busy. I think the asian poppy bedspread is just right!

Teresa said...

I think any of your choices would be great, but my fave three are Tea garden toile, Asian poppy tapestry and Sunshine medallion duvet cover. I'm in love with orange at the moment, but I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to paint the walls in that colour. I'm sure you'll make it look fabulous!

Jan (Magpie) said...

1. Morning glory
2. Tea Garden Toile
3. Jillian

I really like Jillian the best, but I'm thinking orange walls and a busy bedspread might make for guests who cannot fall asleep. Back in the 80s when I got my first job, I worked at a publishing house that had cubicles with bright orange walls. That was done on purpose, because it was thought that, ergonomically speaking (or maybe energetically speaking), orange was a wakeful color and would keep people focused and full of energy. If that's true, then it seems like a good idea to make your bedspread something a little more understated.

Good luck deciding. You really picked a horde of gorgeous choices.

Indigo Wings said...

They are all so lovely, but my absolute favorite is the Olivetta Owl Organic Duvet Cover from Pottery Barn. I love it for your rooms because it incorporates the beautiful shade of orange you picked for the walls, but it has a soothing white base and an extra accent of vibrant red. Have fun with the rest of your decorating!

Stunning choices, Cath! My top two are:
Asian Poppy Tapestry and Tea Garden Toile. (I have a thing for toile...) I think either of these would pop off the bed since you have the white wainscotting. Fab color choice for the walls!

Parker and Emma's Mom said...

I love the Owl ones...I super into birds right now!

Beth said...

Hi Cathy! I recently found your blog and absolutley love it!! I am close to an empty nester. Oldest is almost 20 and has his own apartment (for now), youngest is graduating and going to college in the fall.

AND my scraproom is the exact color of your guest room! I prefer to call it Tangerine and it makes me happy every time I walk in! I love so many of the quilts but here are my top 3
1.Antrolpolgie
2.Neroli
3. Jillian Patchwork

What a hard decision! Good luck!

carabecca said...

Love the Asian Poppy Tapestry from Urban Outfitters. Modern, but classic.

Bibi said...

I think they're all beautiful but my favourite one is the birdcage tapestry because I'm so into birds and I think this is the most unique one. However, I also love the bright colours of the Bella hothouse and the country cottage feel of the morning glory :)

~amy~ said...

Wow...tough decision...I {heart} the Alhambra Bedding....it is soooo bright, fun & happy!!!

Thespa said...

I'm loving that Morning Glory quilt, although the crochet throw is pretty cool too, but then again I'm a bit of a hippy chic who like the bold bright colors. I like the idea of the bright colors, what a cheery room that will be when you get through. Wow!

Julie Masse said...

Oh boy all of these are beautiful!! I would have to say my favorite is the toile - I have a thing for toile!! BUT I think it might be too much orange with the orange walls so my choice would probably be the Morning Glory Quilt, or the Scalloped Quilt or Spring Fling Quilt. They all have lovely shades that would look great in your room and would be a nice balance of color!

ScrapMomOf2 said...

I'm going to pick just one! I would choose the Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt. It's timeless, cozy, and beautiful! I almost chose the Birdcage Tapestry, but it's too trendy for my taste. The patchwork quilt will never go out of style. It's like a hug!

I have to admit though, if you want a bold look, you have some amazing choices too! I really love all of them. So fun to look at!! Have a great weekend!!

Julie said...

My pick would be for the Alhambra Bedding. Love the colors and pattern!!

Janet said...

Definitely the basket weave blanket--the last one. I love the texture of it.

JulieP said...

I didn't look at prices because I didn't want it to influence my decision but I'd definitely go with either the Naroli or the Jillian.

Melanie said...

I like:
1) Neroli Quilt
2) Alhambra Bedding
3) Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt
4)Jillian Patchwork Quilt

They are all really beautiful. I hope you let us see a pic of the finished room! happy Friday!

Lea L. said...

I can't narrow it down to one, but I can give you my top three! These are all gorgeous!

1. Neroli Quilt from Anthropologie
2. Asian Poppy Tapestry from Urban Outfitters (it would need more pillows and throws for my liking, but it is a good start!)
3. Tea Garden Toile from Pottery Barn. (This one you could add some other colors into it, and get some great vibrant throws to go with it.)

You will have to let us know what you do end up picking out!

What beautiful choices!! My 2 faves are:
1.Morning Glory
2. Jillian Patchwork

I Love BRIGHT colors. Maybe because I'm so FREAKING sick of winter!!
Have fun shopping and redecorating!

Amypcd K. said...

Asian Poppy is not too busy, but shows both wall colors. Have fun choosing!

Rosemary D said...

I like either the very bold Alhambra Bedding or the very subtle Scalloped Organice bedding. So, go bold or go subtle!

Stacy said...

Hands down birdcage tapestry does it for me. I love that bedspread, maybe I will have to repaint my bedroom so I can have that one too. Good luck with your search. Stacy

Shellie H. said...

I love them all but I think my favs are Morning Glory Bedding and Tea Garden Toile Quilt. I think the pop of green would look great against the orange.

Sharyn said...

Spring Fling

It speaks to me. :)

Lrerg said...

I absolutely love the color you chose for the walls! You've got me thinking of taking the plunge to repaint my bedroom -- this would be such a yummy color to wake up to. When we moved into this house three years ago, I made paint choices (with the help of a pro) that I'm not happy with, so I've been on the low-key look for ideas. Anyway, on to your order of business. You've got some wonderful choices here, so it was difficult to pick a single one.
-- Morning Glory, because it lends itself to using other colors for accents. Plus, it's beautiful.
-- Sunshine Medallion, because I personally like this type of design, but it could be a bit much, I suppose, if the room is small and the bed is larger than a double.
-- Scalloped Organic Quilt, because, like Morning Glory, it lends itself to using other colors, and I think all of these would complement that gorgeous wall color.

I hope you'll let us see how this turns out -- whatever you choose, I'm sure it will be wonderful. Enjoy the process.

Sammie said...

My favorite is Morning Glory. With the bold, bright wall color, the white in this bedspread would be a nice contrast.

TheLegacyLady said...

Asian Poppy Tapestry with a red or orange basketweave throw - it would make for a nice contrast and very hip room.

If I were bold and adventurous I would go with the Jillian Patchwork Quilt.

And another fave is the Olivetta Owl Organic Duvet Cover...

And lastly for a monochromatic look the Tea Garden Toile Quilt.

Can't you buy one for every month and just change it? We are talking no budget, right?

Julie Campbell said...

Oh man! Sorry to hear about your mom! :( Yikers!

You're making me want to paint my room! :) I really love them all... but my fav would have to be the Sunshine Medallion Duvet Cover!

AaronB said...

I am all about the 1st one, it just seems to go best, and it has that "home" feel. Great color by the way, you are brave to put on your wall! Me I am a white wall kinda girl!

Mary said...

My faves:
1) Tea Garden Toile Quilt - love the color!
2) Olivetta Owl Organic Duvet Cover - fresh and fun.
3) Alhambra Bedding - oooo, so pretty

Have fun decorating your room!

The Savvy Scrapbooker said...

I like the morning glory one, but they are all super cute! You could really take the room a tonne of different directions based on any of these. Happy hunting!

Alice said...

They would all be great and fun to work with, but my eye keeps coming back to the Fleur Patchwork Quilt - I could see a lot of fun ways to pull things from that in the accessories. My second choices are Spring Fling patchwork quilt and the Toile (but maybe in a different color? perhaps too much of a good thing in orange w/ orange walls...wouldn't it be nice if you could try it out before you order.

Rebecca said...

I've been eyeing the spring fling from Pottery Barn for myself...so of course I love it, but I adore Alhambra and Fleur. But that Scalloped Organic Quilt....would be perfect for your room...it seems like it would work perfectly with the room color and balance everything out....just think of all the different colors you could accessorize with!

buzzy said...

My favorite is the Tea Garden Toile Quilt but I think with the color on the walls I'd pick the Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt. It should be fun to see what you end up with...keep us posted!

Scrapycandy said...

I think the morning glory bedspread would work out for the long term...it's a little more subtle and the white area would play off the walls a little more. So fun to redecorate!

jennie said...

Becasue the room has the trim and wascott in the light color, I liked the choices with a good balance or color and white/off white. I have to say that Morning glory is stunning and I would paint a room around the colors in that one in an instant! Also love the neroli Quilt for the same reason. But I cannot help but to love those birdcages. Might be too light for the room, but it is so dang cool!

ScrapAddict21 said...

I'm loving the Morning Glory and Asian Poppy.

susan opel said...

1)Asian Poppy
2)Birdcage Tapestry
3)Tea Garden Toile

All three of these would work well with lots of yummy accent pillows.

Heidi Van Laar said...

Well I couldn't choose just one, so I narrowed it down to two...

I love both the Asian Poppy (sleek, graphic and sophisticated)and the Olivett Owl (more fun and whimsical)

(-: Heidi

Melanie said...

I'm no help becuase I love them all. We just repainted our room a nice rusty terratcotta and I'm not happy with the spread we bought. Maybe I should repaint and pick one of your spread choices.

Michele W said...

Wow these are all fabulous!!! My vote is for the Bella Hothouse-fun, festive, friendly!! Perfect!

Sherry D said...

I love the "Tea Garden Toile"! Then my second favorite is "Sping Fling Patchwork" I love the colors but it makes me laugh because those colors would scare my poor DH to death!!LOL!!

Valonda L. said...

Beautiful choices across the board.
My favorites though:

1) Asian Poppy Tapestry - I could stare at this one for hours. I'd never want to leave the room. Simple, beautiful design

2) Neroli Quilt - major "wow" factor. Would be a stunning focal point in a room.

3) Olivetta Owl - trendy, yet peaceful and calming design

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them though, they are all gorgeous.

Anita said...

I love the Spring Fling Patchwork from Pottery Barn - but I love all things Pottery Barn. My house is loaded with their stuff!! Have fun decorating!!!

MANDEE said...

These are all fantastic! I love the pottery barn one, or the jillian patchwork! what a great color that orange is, so happy and mellow! ~Amanda

Julie O. said...

Wow~you've really done your shopping!! They are all so beautiful. I think the 3 that would be my fave and would match that 'mac n' cheese' paint are these:

1) Jillian Patchwork Quilt
2) Asian Poppy Tapestry
3) Neroli Quilt

My question is, who are your guests? Mostly adults or will be a room where children stay? That would be a consideration if I was trying to make this decision.

Good luck and thanks for including us. Fun! Can't wait to hear what you pick.

Jan said...

My very favorite is the Tea Garden Toile, but that might be too much orange. Second favorite is Scalloped organic next is Spring Fling Patchwork. All from Pottery Barn - maybe I should check them out a little more!

Lindsay Spencer said...

I love the last one. The scalloped organic quilt. It brings the fun energetic orange down to a peaceful calm welcome home feeling. I think it's a great color to work with, how fun! I can't wait to see the room finished.

Amy R. said...

Neroli Quilt and the Homespun Throw are my favorites! :) I love the colors together. So cozy.

kristie sessions said...

The jilian patchwork quilt hands down. I love the vibrant colors, which you can find in quite a few of the bedspreads, but it has a sophisticated quality to it that makes it feel a bit older than the others you find from anthropologie and urban outfitters. dont get me wrong, I love both of those stores and wear their fashions quite often, but feel some of their youth and vibrancy and style wont stand the test of time. i think the jilian can work for you for ages to come no matter how many times that door revolves.

Erika said...

Oh, wow! The Neroli or Alhambra bedding from Anthropologie are DEFINITELY moxie fab-licious! They make me inspired to redo my daughter's room! So bright and cheery...I need an Anthropologie fix!

Diane Du said...

The scalloped organic is so comforting and homey with a vintage feel yet has come bright, trendy colors as well. It wouldn't seem to busy and should welcome all your guests no matter what their personal taste.

Jen said...

I had to leave my top three! Anthropologie, Neroli & Bella Hothouse!

angela said...

the spring fling patchwork from PB is my absolute favorite. lots of awesome choices, though!

Nicole said...

Okay, so since this is my old bedroom, I think that my comment should bear some weight here! :) I'm still thinking that it might be good to have a quilt that doesn't have so much orange in it since the walls are so bright.

My vote is a toss up between the Fleur and Spring Fling Patchwork Quilts. I like those ones and I think the orange and white walls will compliment them nicely.

Tammy Hershberger said...

Wow, I'm usually a patchwork kinda' girl, but that Asian Poppy Tapestry really caught my eye! How striking that would be against those pretty walls, with the morning sun shining in! The Birdcage Tapestry is a close second for it's definite Moxie Fab-ness! Third choice would be the Tea Garden Toile! But they're all beautiful! Be sure to let us know what you pick! :)

Kathleen said...

Tea Garden Toile Quilt----I think that would look amazing in that room (and, I just happen to like it alot!) Have fun dressing up your room---

Julie Magallanes said...

I love the Alhambra bedding, it looks so homey and cozy. I think it would look marvelous in that room. Can I ask what that paint color is called and who is the brand? I LOVE it. It is so inspiring!

And U Jest said...

Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt
I think would work the best...
With your walls... you don't want to have to much orange...this patchwork quilt gives you the color plus more... and it will ground the bed in the room...
Hanve you thought of furniture and the color of that furniture?
This quit would go with just about any sytle and color...
GOOD LUCK!

Dianne said...

I love the color of the paint in the room....and the Tea Garden Toile Quilt is absolutely gorgeous. The Touch of white in the pattern cools the orange just a bit.
I also liked the Scalloped Organic Quilt...it was so gentle and inviting looking.

wendyp said...

LOVE that wall color!!! We have a light orange color in our kitchen and I love it. Its such a warm cheery color!

My first choice would be the olivetta owl spread. The white just adds a bit of brightness and what can I say, I'm digging that grey in there. LOL!

My other two choices would be Spring fling and Neroli quilt. Good luck with your decision!

Lexi said...

Asian poppy, Asian poppy, Asian poppy

Ms. Maxwell said...

Alhambra all the way!

Jenn said...

I think I'm going with Asian Poppy, it's little more clean line :)

Ashley Harris said...

Super fab choices Cath, but I have to go with the Anthropologie. It just hit me in the gut the second I saw it. I scrolled down to give the rest a chance, but no, that's the one. Good luck! Have a great day!

Beth W. said...

I am a quilt girl and a Pottery Barn addict, so I have to pick Spring Fling and Jillian as my Moxie Fab Favs!

Kenna said...

I love the anthropologie bedspread. With all the other colors in it you will not have orange overload. You could also change the room color and still use this bedspread. It is a nice bright bedspread too.

cards4ever said...

What beautiful bedspreads I love them all but my favorite is the spring fling patchwork quilt and my favorite thpow to go with that would be the orange.

julie.schellin said...

love love love the colors of the Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt, so fresh and bright and would go great with mac-n-cheese orange! :)

Tamikko said...

My fav is the Tea Garden Toile Quilt. I'm not partial to orange, so I would opt for a different wall colour. Love the tea garden though.
Thanks for the chance to win, and happy decorating!

able mabel said...

I scrolled up and down, up and down until I was almost dizzy.

The first to catch my eye was the Asian Poppy. Then I decided it was maybe to trendy.

I next stopped at the Pixel Crocheted Afghan. Love the colors in this one. But then...I kept going.

I paused a long time at Jillian Patchwork Quilt...

My decision...Since money isn't an issue in this Moxie World, you buy all three and use whichever one fits the mood of the day/week/month. The other two you store in a cute little cedar chest at the foot of the bed.

{Anya} said...

I love love love the Asian Poppy Tapestry pattern. Just enough color to pop!

Michelle (aka mybelle101) said...

Well, I'm going to have to go with my top 3, since I can't narrow it down! (and they're all from Pottery Barn, so that will make shopping easier when you buy your basket weave throw...one stop shopping! *wink*)
1: Spring Fling Patchwork quilt...love the bright, fresh take on a classic quilt
2: Oliveta Owl Organic Duvet Cover...fabulous graphic look, and of course owls are all the rage right now (especially with me!)
3: Scalloped Organic Quilt...love the softer colors in this one, and I think it'd be GLORIOUS in the morning. Super sunny ;)

Good luck deciding! I know I'd have a hard time choosing!

Cass said...

I like Neroli Quilt because it's quirky, Morning Glory Bedding because it's pretty and Asian Poppy Tapestry because it's artsy. I guess I'd need to buy all three! Good thing it's Moxie Fab World so I don't have to worry about paying!

Kristie said...

I'm loving the Tea Garden Toile...it's a total classic, the Alhambra for something a little brighter, and the Asian Poppy for something a little more *Moxie Fab*. But you're right...they're all fabulous! AND you've made me feel like going shopping for new bedding :)

Renee said...

Jillian Patchwork Quilt and

Neroli Quilt are my two faves.

Have fun with the decorating!!!

Karen said...

Very favorite Neroli you can do so much with it and if you get tired of the orange walls - you can just pick another color wall and change the look. Second fav Jillian - same true here.

Melissa said...

I love bedding and could never settle for just one - even for a guest room....so my pics would be
Asian Poppy Tapestry (for it's boldness and clean lines) and Spring Fling (for it's fun blend of texture and colour)
Both have an underlying asian theme and similar colourway so would work perfectly with the same artwork and decorative accents you choose for the room.

Karen said...

Spring Fling is my fave. It's colorful, but subtle, and I think would "wear well" over time. I have a beautiful blue, yellow, and white Pottery Barn quilt that I've had for years. I have never tired of it, and I don't think I would tire of Spring Fling either!

Olivia M. said...

Wow, these are really nice. Here are my choices & why:

1. PB's Olivetta Owl with the solid orange throw, because it has enough organe to go, but not to much to feel like you're inside an orange.

2. Urban Outfitters's Asian Poppy, but with a cream or brown throw; again enough orange to tie in the color but not too much to overwhelm.

&

3. Spring Fling from PB because it's fun and has tons of color but not too much of one particular so you could add orange and soft buttery yellow throw pillows and get a solid blanket.

This was fun! You should do this more often!

Good luck in your decorating adventures.

Greta said...

I think Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt is my favorite but you definitely have picked out a lot of beautiful choices! :)

Karen said...

This is a hard choice, but I would have to go with the Asian Poppy Tapestry. It gives you a subtle pop of color and will make the room more serene.

scandi said...

I think I like Morning Glory or Sunshine Medallion the best (what a great name!) I do really like the quilted look too... this is really hard! You have picked such great ones to choose from. I think I would pick Morning Glory- that was my first instinct and I could see that with a bright throw. Good Luck picking!

K said...

I would go with Asian Poppy because it would "calm" the space while still adding interest and color.

Flo said...

Cath,
These are fabulous! I absolutely adore the bright and patch-worky ones. The Spring Fling & Scalloped Organic are my favorite! The shades of green and white in these bed toppers would be a very sassy compliment to the orangy-gold of your walls! Have fun re-decorating your Morning Room!

Jarie said...

They are gorgeous but my top three are:

1. - Asian Poppy Tapestry because I really like black with bright colors and also the khaki. That combination would would great for a card I think.
2. - Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt - nothing like having a nice homey type of bedding a room.
3. - Olivetta Owl Organic Duvet Cover is my third choice - I just like the design and color combinations in that piece.

Asian Poppies and the Birdcage are my favorites. I have to admit, I'm not much of a patchwork person - i like bold, clean designs. :)

I like the owl one because it has alot of colors but also alot of white and I think it would stand out beautifully while still complimenting the walls.

Ink, paper and BLING! said...

They are all so stunning, and very craft like, they have a homemade feel to them.
I like the Owl one because the owls are a bit unexpected, and also because it is organic, and not over the top femanine; since one day it does hope to return to a guest room!
For the same reasons I love the organic scallop quilt.
Have fun decorating!

I like the Fleur Patchwork Quilt from Urban Outfitters, with the blue Basketweave throw to go along with it. The orange is beautiful, but I think for a bedroom it would be nice to offset it somewhat with a the soothing ski blue in these two choices - the opposite on the color wheel. That fun quilt reminds me of patterned paper, with some SU Baja Breeze for the throw (tee hee). Happy Decorating!

auntkell said...

I really like the Asian Poppy Tapestry...It's very mod-looking, has that energetic pop of color, but is grounded by the soothing neutrals. The wall color is so exciting--this cover tones that feeling down just a bit. I also think I'd get 2 throws--one that plays up each mood! I'm interested to see which one you choose!

tommiejo said...

I'm partial to the Neroli AND the Olivetta Owl but honestly, they're all pretty!

My favorite (what great eye candy!) in order of preference:
Scalloped Organic Quilt
Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt
Jillian Patchwork Quilt

Love the colors, like the more subtle/moderny patterns/look!!

Sprytebyrd said...

Wow - you've got quite a difficult decision there! I'm going to my vote in for the Birdcage tapestry.. I love the birds and the color combo and that's it not quite as busy as some of the others. I also like the owls.. and to totally contradict myself, the Bella was my first choice, until I saw the birds! Good Luck!

I'd go with the Asian Poppy Tapestry because the strong simplicity is just moxie fab!

I absolutely LOVE the Morning Glory Bedding. I think it would be a nice soft compliment to your orange walls and wouldn't over power the room.

Morning Glory, Birdcage Tapestry, and Fleur Patchwork Quilt are my top three. They're all SO happy!! It's just too bad I wouldn't be able to put any of them on my bed with the way my dogs love to sleep in our bed. Any bit of white gets dirty immediately. lol. The price I pay for the best puppies in the universe, right?

I like them all. Great choices. My favorite is the Alhambra bedding because of the colors & style of layout. Bold yet homey looking. Good luck shopping.

Those are all so pretty and vibrant, there's certainly more than one I'd love!! But my absolute favorite is the Olivetta Owl Duvet!!

I don't think i would have ever thought to paint a room orange! But so far it looks great and I think with the Neroli quilt set (everything in that first picture) the room would look fabulous!!!! Nice and bright and cheery!

Dolly Mixtures said...

I'm all for the scalloped organic quilt (I couldn't resist the cushions). Ithink it has just the right amount of orange to compliment the walls without it being overpowering. I am dumbstruck by the choice you have.I am a Scot living in the Netherlands and choice is very thin on the ground. Which ever of these you choose would make br beautiful. Have fun! Angela

I say the morning glory quilt, all the green in it will contrast really nicely with your new yummy orange walls. Plus its not too trendy where you will want a new quilt in a few years, its a forever blanket.

From an interior design perspective, with those glossy soft orange (but very beautiful) walls, I would go with one of these three:

-Jillian
-Spring Fling
-Olivetta Owl

Any of these would complement the wall... good luck deciding!

MY fave is the scalloped organic quilt

The asian Poppy tops my lists, can't help it..my dh travels to Japan and I have a lot of asian decor!

Here is my 3:

1) Bird cage tapestry: I think the fact that there is white in it grounds the print.
2) Neroli: Very warm and makes me think of sunshine.
3) Fleur Patchwork: Really for the same reason, but as it's not just the one colour so a bit more versatile.

Hope you get some help here...

Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt gets my vote. I think it tones down the orange and it has a bit of green with I love.

I would choose Anthropologie's Neroli Quilt. Looking at it just makes me happy and sunny - which is I think the theme you are going with in this room.

I love all of these. I would have to say that I'd go with the Tea Garden Toile though. The Asian Poppy tapestry is kind of funky and cool too!

Tiff said...

I absolutely heart the tea garden toile!!!! It was not very difficult for me to choose!!!!

I think some of the designs that are heavy with orange might be a bit overkill with the orange walls. My choice would be the Spring Fling Patchwork ... I think the shades of green would really brighten up the orange. Thanks for the tour of the fabulous bedding.

My favorite is the Morning Glory bedding by Anthropologie. I like the white contrast with the orange.

Oooooh, how fun! Love that color, so different and unexpected! You have me thinking I need to repaint my master bedroom tomorrow!

Anyway, noticing the white beadboarding in the room, I'd have to go with the Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt.

If your daughter wants something a little more bright and funky, a good second choice would be Bella Hothouse Bedding.

Or, if she's fun, but sophisticated, (and future guests may be also), I'd say the Alhambra.

All of those don't have SO much orange in them, they won't overhwhelm the room, and they will let you bring in more colors for accents, at least in my novice reasoning! lol! Can't wait to see how it all turns out!

The Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt is the most inviting and cozy bedspread. It has "home" written all over it!

Spring Fling Patchwork quilt-I love the lime green with the orange-makes it pop!

Oh.

My.

Gosh.

Seriously you cannot go wrong with ANY of these! Holey Schmoley! How fun! I love the Asian Poppy one with the walls best but geeeesh how do I really pick? LOL

travelingmama said...

Wow! Those are all GORGEOUS! I would have a really hard time choosing too! Personally, I loved the one from Urban Outfitters because it has a touch of the orange, but really pulls a lot of other colors into the room. Whatever you choose I hope you'll share with us!!

chinamomxtwo said...

I 'd say any of the ones form Anthropologie. you found some wonderful choices!! Thx for sharing the resources.off to "window" shop!

This is a tough choice because all of your picks are gorgeous! I'd have to say that my top 3 are the Sunshine Medallion Duvet Cover
Asian Poppy Tapestry
Neroli Quilt
That room is going to be gorgeous in the bright sunshine!

I think i like the Asian Poppy best...adds some sophistication to the 'kraft dinner walls'!

Bethany Paull said...

I love the energy of orange and blue right now, so I'll go with the Sunshine Medallion from Urban Outfitters. It's also a pale enough blue to keep a guest room relaxed. And has enough colors in it to get you started accessorizing.

Rebecca said...

I think the Neroli quilt from Anthropologie would be perfect in your room. It is bright and cheerful!

I liked the Neroi, Morning Glory and Curved Organics. Love the color of the walls.

this is my favorite - love the brighter colors --- Fleur Patchwork Quilt

I like both the asian poppy tapestry and the tea garden toile. The toile being more classic and the asian poppy being more mod.

The Jilllian Patchwork Quilt for sure!!! I dream of a home with those colors all around. They speak of sunshiney days all year round and I LOVE for the sun to shine in!!!
GORGEOUS!!!

I like Alahambra, Fleur Patchwork, and Anthro! BUT I LOVE the color of the room! I would so do this in my house if my husband would let me! He is an ex paratrooper so any shade of Olive drab is great with him!

stephanie b. said...

who would have thought orange would be so versatile!!! I had to go with three choices. I think something with green in it gives it a nice balance.
1.spring fling patchwork quilt
2.birdcage tapestry
3.scalloped organic quilt.

have fun choosing!

Daniela said...

Wow, my first choice was Neroli Quilt, because it's bright and colorful. Then I saw Asian Poppy Tapestry. The colors match and it has a touch of orange, like the wall. I would go with that.
Let us know what you decide.

strent said...

Well, I love all things Asian, so gotta go with Asian Poppy Tapestry. Then the Birdcage tapestry. Good luck!!

Rachel Greig said...

Wow - great bedspreads!!! Makes me want to redecorate some of my rooms too! My choice hands down would be the Spring Fling Quilt! It has a little bit of orange so it would go with the walls, and yet not too much orange that it would be just an orange fest!

Can't wait to see what you choose! We'll want photos too no doubt ;)

Funny how hard having too many choices can be! I pick "morning glory" by Anthropologie. This gives you a neutral base to the room and you can accessorize boldly (throws, pillows, bed skirt, lamp) without making the room too busy.

Anthonette said...

The one that spoke to me more is the Olivetta Owl Organic Duvet Cover. I love colors on the wall. You chose a good one!

Eveline said...

I'm probably to late for a comment but I love the bedspreads. I would go with the first. Made me happy to look at.

I love the Spring Fling Patchwork Quilt. I think with so much orangeon the walls you don't want TOO much on the bed as well. And it gives a lot of other color choices for accessories and curtain fabric! Just my opinion! They are all very fun choices.

I like the patchwork quilt ones: Fleur and Spring Fling. I'm just surprised you found so many that go with your "mac&cheese' room!

Kelly S. said...

Gotta go with the Morning Glory quilt...some of the others are sooooo cool...but the big question is, will you STILL like them after a year or so...that's what I always struggle with when decorating! The Morning Glory one is subtle but so cheeery and I think it will POP in that mac and cheese room...good luck, with your design skill ANYTHING you do will turn out awesome, I mean Moxie Fab or course, hee!

Scallop organic is my suggestion. The walls are bold and this softens it all out. Plus, I foyu decided to change the walls at any point, the quilt has so many options. Now, if you want BOLD, bella boathouse is my vote. Such beautiful options!
