But first, let’s talk moxie fabulousness. Moxie fab is a phrase I coined not long after joining the Paper Crafts team 3 ½ years ago. Since my main job in the magazine is to make sure that the “stuff” we put in the magazine is fresh, fun, and right-up-your-alley, I started needing a descriptor that I could use that would adequately characterize the super cool, terrifically trendy, and rev-up-my-heartbeat projects, techniques, and products that I started seeing on a daily basis. It just wasn’t enough to say, “Oh, that’s pretty.” Or “Why yes, that’s nice.” Because what I was seeing was so far beyond that—what I was seeing was simply moxie fab!
Later, moxie fab turned into a column (nestled between the Joy of Card Making and Paper Crafts 101), and now it’s turned into a blog! What’s next? Hard to tell, because it is, as you know, a moxie fab world in which the possibilities are absolutely endless!
While the Moxie Fabs column in the magazine explores current trends and shows you how to incorporate them into your projects, this blog will take it to a whole new level. We’ll talk about all kinds of trends that we’ll find in all kinds of places. We’ll learn about the trends that designers in our industry are paying attention to right now and how they are inspired by them. We’ll talk more about how to design with these trends in mind, and I’ll be inviting you to contribute on a regular basis with challenges, contests, prizes, and much, much more.
But more than that, Moxie Fab World is a place where we can all get to know one another a little better. It’s a place where we can enjoy a stout cup of coffee, a warm spot of tea, or a sweet sip of cocoa and gather around our computers on our own time and on our own terms. It’s a place where we will share ideas, explore the trendy possibilities, and uncover the magical opportunities we have to connect with one another in this most heartfelt of hobbies, paper crafting.
So let's jump in gals! Below you'll find some uber cool trends that we've all been seeing in the moxie fab world lately.
Owls from Nicole LaRue:
Hounds tooth from Ann Taylor:
Pears from Twinkie Chan:
Which trends have you incorporated the most in your paper crafting as of late?--or which trends would you like to incorporate more of in your paper crafting?--or just say "hello!" Leave me a comment by Monday, November 17 at midnight MST and I will draw a random winner to receive a moxie fab prize!Again, thanks for stopping by my trendy friend! Be sure to tune in tomorrow for some more moxie fab fun!

Wow Cath! I'm excited about this blog! I'm Moxie Fab and didn't even know it! I've incorporated, owls, damask and houndstooth in my papercrafting-can't seem to get enough.
Very cool...I am going to love this blog Cath!
My favorite latest trend is finding cute but relevant ways to use the animal images that have shown up on a lot of product these days like deer, owls, bunnies...etc. I just love finding a way to use them and make sense when using them! My faves are pretty much ANY collection by Sassafras Lass, and that cute paper with the deer by October Afternoon. AND, the Kim Hughes Collection stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms have a lot of these cute animals as well, and I just love them!

fun blog! My favorite trends center around texture. Damask shows up alot in my work, as does the houndstooth pattern. Classic, elegant, and trendy all at once.
What a great new blog, Cath! I'm loving seeing Damask these days. Looking forward to future posts!
Love the new blog Cath! It is fabulous already! I would say one of my new favorites would have to be all the vintage images.
Hi Cath, so excited about your new blog!

Owls, more owls, and even more owls! See my owls at http://preview.tinyurl.com/5jjr85 on the QVC blog.u And 70's inspired typography. I also can't seem to get enough turquoise and red, especially together with a bit of butter yellow, yummmy!

I love damask and houndstooth - found some houndstooth ribbon at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section for 50% off!
Thanks for the inspo - Ms. Moxie Fabulous!
Good morning, Cath! What a fun new blog! I'm seeing romance and sumptuous cards everywhere I look--piling on of the details. Of course, that could well mean that clean and Spartan is already waiting in the wings. :-D

I have always loved pears and owls, getting to like damask. I like shabby chic and am looking forward to decorating my new studio that style!
So, raiding the antique stores and thrift stores!!!
Ooh, OK, can I just tell you how awesome your blog topper is!? Did Stace have something to do with that? I am in love with ruffles and branches and unexpected texture mixes right now. This blog is cooooooooooool, just like you. :)

Owls and Damask have been my two favorites lately. What a wonderful new blog! I'm looking forward to checking it out regularly.
Good morning Cath! What a fun place to find you.
I sure am enjoying darling little "shrooms" of the mushroom variety lately :) They are appearing on sweet pj's my little one wears, stationary,(Miss Kim Kesti's cards), t-shirts, fabric....they are fun and happy. Also loving birdcages, old chairs, vintage typewriter images along with several other images...so much to love and anticipate using in cards and such.

Moxie Fab is one of my favorite features in Paper Crafts, so I'm psyched to check out the blog! I'm about the most un-trendy crafter, but I do have a weakness for damask. That is one thing I'd like to use more of. Thanks for the giveaway op :)
Great Blog!!!!

Hi, I am one of your younger readers and I have to say I love your column and I am always to incorporate "moxie fabs" in my card making and scabooking.
How fun is this blog! Very Moxie FAb! My favorite trend is that people have gone to my way of thinking with a needle and thread, be it the sewing machine or hand stitching. I'm a huge fan of hand stitching as a design element to my work.
:)
Love the blog, Cath. I am totally into owls, owls and more owls :)
Hello! Love the blog! I love owls and birds right now. :)
Owls and glitter/bling seem to be used a lot in my scrap room lately.
What a fun blog here! I've used the houndstooth and damasks in my layouts.

Oooh, congrats Cath! This looks so fun! And I love owls and deer right now. And I love finding inspiration from clothing and catalogs. Fun, fun!
Great blog! i would love to get myself using some more wood grain stuff. Love the look of it but have pretty much just been hoarding the stuff
I'd have to say at the moment, I'm most taken with the owl trend .I've been a collector of owl ornaments since 1989, and was thrilled to see them become a popular image in the papercrafting world.
Thanks for starting a blog to keep us up to date on the latest "in things' Living in Australia, we're often a little behind on finding out "what's hot'
Sarah

How fun is this going to be?!? Fun stuff, Cath! :o)
I love the Owls! SO cute!
Your blog is really cool. One trend I've noticed but don't have a picture of is yellow and gray together. It looks so cool because it is a bright yellow.
Love the phrase you've coined. Just this past weekend I was bemoaning the fact that I find myself using the term "awesome" all too much. "Terrific" was suggested as an alternate, but I am thinking "moxie fab" will do even better!
As to your question, I was recently designing a digi scrap kit and felt a real need for some houndstooth. So obviously I guess that makes me trendy and moxie fab! How terrific is that?!
Owls! I love owls. Subscribed to your blog, btw. :)
Congrats on the new blog Cath - I'm sure it will be moxie fab - just like you! In addition to damask and houndstooth, I'm seeing lots of silver & sequins - lots of shimmer and bling - as well as vintage/ruffles and a bit of tailored jackets and dresses, fitted with tiny belts - Audrey Hepburnish.
Reading your blog is going to be such fun! I love your magazine articles. This is going to be even more timely in identifying trends.
too cute. i am excited to view your new blog. anything with cath is fun. love the colorful settings too. congrats. and hmmm. i wish i were more trendy / scrappy, but still i love my paper cutter.. that's a trend that never dies.
Ooooh, now THIS looks like a fun blog!!
Well, I gonna say that I've used quite a few trees, owls, and deer as well as houndstooth lately.
Oh, Cath, what a wonderful place you've created here!!! Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve. As for trends, I'm loving using fabrics and tulle lately.
I think I love the "black and white" trend. It may be a little old, but I still love it!
love the blog. Trends we are incorporating are the handstiching as well as the patterns. Excited to post a link on my blog so that my friends can keep up to date also.
What a great new blog...can't wait to see what's in store. New trends? I won't claim to have "started" any, but I love using twine & border punches on my projects now.

I see more and more ocloring on cards - especially with Copic markers, but I could be biased as that is what I do.
Felt and fabric on card is another.
I love your new blog, congrats on this new venture!
Suzy Haghighi
I am in love with the damask plate. I can't wait to see more of what you come up with. I am totally in love with OWLS!!!!!!!!
